    *Summary*
    *Introduction (**0:00**-**0:03**)*
    - Welcome to a remote-controlled (RC) test flight video featuring a Halloween special theme.
    *Previous Halloween Projects (**0:04**-**0:17**)*
    - A brief overview of prior Halloween experiments involving pumpkins.
    *Today's Experiment Objective (**0:18**-**0:23**)*
    - Goal to sink a pumpkin in a lake to test for implosion.
    *Test Rig Details (**0:24**-**0:45**)*
    - Description of the rig designed to hold and sink the pumpkin.
    *First Sinking Attempt (**0:46**-**1:01**)*
    - Initial attempt to sink the pumpkin fails due to inadequate weight.
    *Technical Issues (**1:02**-**1:26**)*
    - Rope angle issues due to wind and a microphone falling into the water.
    *Submarine Experiment Results (**1:27**-**1:54**)*
    - Sub stops at 180 ft; pumpkin experiences a minor crack but doesn't implode.
    *Secondary Tests (**1:55**-**3:06**)*
    - Experiment with sealed containers also yields inconclusive results.
    *Preparing for Deep Dive (**3:07**-**4:51**)*
    - Talk about moving to "fugia sound" for better results and pumpkin preparation.
    *Second Deep Dive (**4:52**-**6:03**)*
    - Pumpkin cracks but doesn't implode even after lowering to 145 ft.
    *Sponsored Interlude (**6:36**-**7:37**)*
    - Brief segment discussing meal service, Factor.
    *Final Attempt and Summary (**7:38**-**8:13**)*
    - Last pumpkin heavy with water but doesn't implode; need to remove air from bags for future tests.
    *Bag Issues (**8:17**-**9:29**)*
    - Troubleshooting bag issues, from air leaks to cave-ins at certain depths.
    *Vacuum Bags and Buoyancy (**9:30**-**10:19**)*
    - Using vacuum bags and weights; finally sinks but collapses quickly.
    *Operational Concerns (**10:23**-**11:30**)*
    - Concerns about ocean currents, potential obstacles, and efficient reeling methods.
    *Depth Achieved (**11:39**-**12:20**)*
    - Reached a depth of 675 ft, deeper than the Space Needle.
    *Post-Experiment Observations (**12:24**-**13:52**)*
    - Items pulled up, observations on deformities in metal and glass, and pumpkin states.
    *Additional Pressure Tests (**13:55**-**15:11**)*
    - Further tests focusing on pressure impacts on pumpkins.
    *Conclusive Remarks (**15:13**-**15:38**)*
    - Final thoughts on the experiment, including a cracked pumpkin bottom and water ingress.

Not sure if you're kidding or not but here are my two cents: Not any better. Epoxy by itself doesn't have much strength and is fairly brittle. It would crack as soon as the pumpkin deformed just a bit. In a composite part, the fibers are where the strentgh come from.

    • @JaredWyns
      @JaredWyns Год назад +1

@@AntiVaganza true, I was thinking that if the layer was thick enough it would be able to extend how long it takes for cavitation to start, thus hopefully a better implosion when it reaches terminal failure at a deeper pressure. The fiber does give strength, but for a thick enough layer of just epoxy that's been cured enough i'd kind of expect an extended time before a crack and then hopefully a shatter due to the then pressure difference. Might be fun to test next year myself once I've moved up near puget sound

Obtain a KB4-NS/3, use it to cut the top off an ostridge egg (good omelette), re-glue the top of the egg back, and test it against pressure. I'd use an epoxy glue, try to glue it as neatly as possible, any excess might just as well cause you issues.
You can also try to pierce the top with a small drill after you've shaken the egg like you're trying to shake someone back into their senses, and eject the contents through that hole, after you've made a small needle hole to blow the guts the other way around. Then you can just use drops of glue to seal the egg shell back, tho that might be a bit difficult. I know it's possible, but i've never managed to get it all out (shaking the egg vigorously breaks up the content. I know some people have it down pat and they use that technique to save time on mixing the egg.

    • @slycooper1001
      @slycooper1001 Год назад

i tried looking this up earlier but could not see any results
eggs are both known to be structurally strong and somewhat permeable
the membrane inside the egg has a tiny air pocket
surrounded by fluid ie: egg yolk
the structural stability is compromised when the egg is opened
so the test would have to include undamaged eggs
i wanted to see the effects of high ocean pressure on a egg
because all i could find were the calculations determining how much it would take before going crack
and not a actual video showing the descent until it cracks

Always fun seeing your videos. Just 2 things, if you use the winch for anything in the future maybe attach an electric winch to the wheel. Secondly when taking out a small open top boat out that far please wear a PFD

Edit: after watching you struggle to pull that line up from deeper, I realized that you should build some sort of electric windless into your boat for dealing with anchor cables and such.

If you put a co2 cartridge inside the pumpkin it might of exploded, even thought they are built to contain pressure I am not sure they would resist outside pressure. Maybe nothing or maybe on the way back up they would explode , if it didn't sink it back to the bottom and don't bring it home because if it did explode it could send shrapnel at you . Scuba tanks are built to do both but I am not sure about a co2 cartridge.

11.26 he ask is there a smarter way to do it. yes there is a simple way to lift that from the bottom. when we fish and need to pull an anchor from the deep you use a drum with a stainless steel ring on with the rope running thru it. by driving the boat forward the drum floats and the weight comes up in a breez.
