The last time Jake Elliott hit a walk-off 61 yarder, it turned out to be a pretty damn good, unforgettable year.
Just like old times!!!!
That was against the Giants to win the game. Of course, us Eagles fans know what happened later on that year……

Yeah Al definitely didn't realize Eagles still had a Timeout left or something
@@craigisapunk - more like “something” that he didn’t expect, he only thought they would try a FG from closer to the goalposts. But with no time left in the half, you could try from almost any distance (as long as the FG unit is prepared to tackle a potential runback).
I was laughing too hard at this when Al said it. Also when he kept saying DeVonta Smith had 2 TDs in the game. I was like shouting at my screen, "Get your head in the game, Al!" 😂

That ruling is so stupid....that's a HUGE punishment for a fumble a defense doesn't recover IMO they should treat it sort of like a reverse touchback ball goes to the 20 and the original offense continues on with whatever down they were on. This giving the other team the ball because a WR dives at the pylon is moronic and I can't fathom anyone thinks this rule increases their enjoyment of football somehow.
I woulda called it incomplete pass
As an eagles fan, this has been a horrendous game😂

@racist idiot
Playing on 3 days rest is tough week two. Solid win boys!
The touchback rule is the stupidest penalty in the NFL. I don't see why the opponent should get the ball when they never gained possession in bounds. Instead, I think when a player fumbles the ball and it goes through the end zone, the ball should be moved back to the 20 yard line - but the team that had the ball should retain possession.
Or returned to the spot of the fumble, as it is for forward fumbles that don't reach the end zone.
That option would be better than the current state too.@@samueldeng2336
It was made to prevent players coming short of end zone from "fumbling" into the endzone.....or in lesser term throwing the ball into the endzone.
I think it can be determined with replay if a player intentionally tried to fumble the ball into the end zone (and mark the play dead and penalize the player after the fact). @@tieoneon1614

Worst rule in football. You drive 85 yards to the opponents goal and if you fumble out of bounds on the 1 you get the ball at the 1. But if it goes through the end zone it's the other teams ball at the 20.
It should be YOU keep the ball and go back to the 20.
The end zone belongs to the defense. If you fumble into the end zone you’ve given the ball away.
it should just come out to the 1, there's absolutely no reason for any sort of touchback rule in that situation
@@dt35591 That would be stupid. You can just “fumble” forwards into the endzone just to avoid getting tackled further away. It’s literally just one part of the field where it’s applied so simply don’t fumble there
@@goroadachi9489 you aren't allowed to intentionally fumble fowards anyway. If that were the case everyone would just "fumble" forwards to get first downs. I honestly hate the fact that fumbling into the endzone is a turnover because you also have the rule where hitting the pylon with the ball is a touchdown. What if you fumble while going for the pylon? Touchdown? Turnover? Ball at the 1? Make it make sense

This rule makes no sense at all.. like spot the ball at the 10 and allow the offense to retain the ball.. it makes no sense as to why the defense gets it on the 20.. they didn't recover it, and the offense drove it all the way there.. why reward a defense that got beat?

I think I know exactly what you're referring to, Rosie Nix did it vs. the Broncos I think
@jakethreesixty that was the big one but I feel like we get a couple of these a year
It’s a consistent rule in line with the logic of a live ball. It just doesn’t happen frequently.
Just another 61 yard FG. Just another day at the office.
May someone explain what’s happening/ what happened for a football noobie
There is no explanation..it makes no sense...does not jive with any other rules in football.
@@vdoggydogg3922it makes perfect sense. The ball was live, and went out the back of the endzone. Kick offs are live balls. What happens when a kick off goes out of the back of the endzone? Voila. Simple logic.
He lost control of the ball before it went into the endzone, then it went out of bounds in the endzone.
Basically the offense made the ball go into the endzone, but they didn't have control of it. That makes it a touchback, just like on a punt or kickoff.
I know it feels like the offense should retain the ball, because it left the field to the side, but the side of the endzone is treated the same way as the back of the endzone. A fumble out of the back of the endzone by the offense (which would be pretty hard to pull off) is also a touchback.
Appreciate you saying that you're not sure what's happening, there are a lot of casuals in these comments who don't understand football. Nothing wrong with being a casual, but these people act like they know football when they don't.
Isn't that the exact same thing that happened to the eagles when we played the vikings in the divisional playoffs round back in 04
Terrell Edmunds calls it a touchback right away. He knew what was going on.
One of the dumber rules of the game, any other fumble that goes forward and out of bounds is a marked down at where the person fumbled it, yet for some reason fumbling in the end zone automatically turns the ball over.
Where it goes out of bounds or is recovered, not where it’s fumbled. It’s a live ball.
When it goes out of the end zone it ceases to be a live ball and is a touchback.
@@KarsKiraiand that is one of the dumber rules of the game.

@@KarsKirai No sir, if the ball is fumbled forwards and goes out of bounds it is returned to the spot of the fumble. Unless of course it goes out of the end zone then for some reason the opposing team automatically gets the ball, which is why it is dumb.

This is an antiquated rule that needs to be changed. Defense gets rewarded and they didn't do anything.
except causing a fumble... what are you on? easier solution than changing a fair rule... don't fumble, easy, right?
@@FlareTheFolfNah bro you have no clue what you're talking about. A fumble out of bounds does not automatically give the defense possession anywhere else. A fumble out of the *opposing team's endzone*, which should be the most favorable ruling for the offense as they've already marched the entire length of the field... instead just gets gifted to the defense? Completely indefensible. And I'm not even a Vikings fan.
@@kinggrantking I do know actually, it add risk to the play, high risk, high reward, imagine if a team get rewarded for screwing up the play, seems unfair for the defense, especially when defense already have an unfair disadvantage, offense risked it by JJettas stretching his arm out, defense cause the fumble, went into the endzone, offense risk it and defense get rewarded for their play, and let's be honest, you and bunch of other people are just crying and bitching cause it's the Eagles benefitting from it lol
We are cursed, I’m gonna end it
So from what I’m getting it’s an incomplete pass cause it was the Vikings ball cause when he gets down the ball gets out and it went out of bounds so an eagle player went to the ref and called it a fumble and went out of bounds for a touchback so the reason why the Vikings lost it was because of the eagle player called it
Lol no one thinks it is an incomplete to begin with

Stop it 💀😂
If an offensive player fumbles the ball forward and it goes out of bounds in the end zone, why not just make it the rule the ball is spotted where it first came out and play the next down? I would think just losing a down would be enough incentive for players to not try to “fumble forward” into the end zone (plus the chance the defense would recover.) Why they gotta be so dramatic with the rule? What did the defense do to earn possession of the football AND a free 25 yards?
The opposing endzone belongs to the defense. You really want to hold the offenses hand even more than they already are in this league for a mistake that THEY made?
“Oh I know you just gave the football away but here you can actually have it right back”
What did they do? They knocked the ball out on the goalline! They saved the touchdown. It's the most critical position on the field. Just don't fumble. Also, it's 20 yards, ya casual
cause it's unfair, reaching for the endzone should have a risk to it, if you fumble, you screwed your team over, if they made a rule from being high risk, high reward, to no risk, high reward, it would make it already unfair to the defense as it already is
@JAKEtheRAKE23 Yeah the offense shouldn’t be rewarded for the mistake they made but in that case the defense shouldn’t be rewarded for doing nothing as a mistake
@@calebkennedy2237 right, that’s what I’m saying. Definitely shouldn’t be a touchdown and the offense should be penalized as if it were an infraction, but to just give the defense the ball and 20 yards for doing nothing is ridiculous. The end zone isn’t small, if the defense can’t manage to recover the ball before it rolls out, they shouldn’t just get it. The rule incentivizes defenses to stand back and do nothing in that situation. They already let the offense get to the goal line, they should have to do a little work to get a turnover at that point.
