  • In this video I am cutting a single track trail with the brush hog! I have been meaning to make a trail in the woods for years and I finally bit the bullet. There is about 10 acres of woods and I think I can end up with a 1.5 - 2 mile trail. I am only partially done but its super fun.

      Haha
Go in the spring or winter when everything is dead and you can really see everything. Then figure out the trail and make it in the spring before anything grows.

Appreciate you having fun, but this scares the deer and other animals shitless, causing them to stay in cover and eat the bark off trees. This can cause damages of multiple THOUSAND dollars, not to speak of the fungus that can invade through the open bark and kill the tree from the inside... But hey... It's your woods

    • @Corn-ped

I ride the trail once a week on a electric bike. There is also thousands of acres of woods next to this small spot. The deer were eating my hibiscus infront of my bedroom this morning. There is no hunting or other recreational vehicles in the area. I think the wild life will be OK.

@@ourcountryacres4862 and I am a hunter, in the country I live in, hunters go through an extensive to week course (8am to 5pm) where we learn a crapton about the local flora and fauna. At the end of that course there is an exam too. Hunters here work together with farners and foresters to try our best and achieve a balance between the admittadly expansionist needs of humans and the needs of wildlife. Any damages caused by wildlife managed by the hunters are to be paid in full by the hunter assigned to that area. Which can get quite expesive. (10000€ and more in bad cases).
The reason I bang on about riding bikes outside of designated trails, is that it scares the local wildlife to the point of them not coming out pf their hiding places for days and eating everything in that area, including tree bark. A tree with a damaged bark is an easy target for fungus and bark beetles, which can, and in the latter case, almost cirtanly will, multiply and cause extensive damage tonthe forrest
