Wow! That was so cool! I really appreciate how much theming makes a difference on this ride. With the light's on, it's more like a carnival ride. Thanks for sharing!
This is fascinating! I didn't realize how technically intricate this ride is! I love it even more now! 🤦🏾♀️ I will say it's a LOT more intense when you can see how close the metal beams are! Lol! 🙋🏾♀️ Lights off for me please! 😂
The only thing scarier than riding with all the lights off is riding with them on!! (Seriously tho' so much respect for the engineering genius behind this ride)💜
This looks fantastic! I didn't know that the Florida version of Space Mountain was so technically intricate and the amount of theming really makes a difference on this ride. 🪐🪐☄️🛸🚀🚀🚀🎢🎢🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️
Rode it in the dark in the late 90's at Orlando and loved it for my first experience! I was scared at first when the cross bars of the track came at me thinking I was gonna loose my head. But shortly over came that.
Is and always be my favorite Disney attraction. Remembering visiting WDW when there were 'Coming next year' signing along the train ride. Then, my first ride had about a 2 hour wait. Worth it all. In love.
I was super lucky and got to ride with the lights on 5 years ago. The left track broke down but the right track was working. We were going up the lift hill and the left side stopped, the lights turned on, but our side continued moving! Such a cool experience!
Now you know you must keep you feet and hands inside the Rocket it's so tight . Space Mountain in California is much safer to raise your hands . But in Orlando you cannot even raise your hands clearances are way too tight and risky. I never ridden on this version of Space Mountain before I am looking forward to ride version of the ride . I ridden the California Ride Thousands of times in my life. I can not say which one is better till I actually ride it. Because videos will not do justice. Nice Video !
The ride is scarier in the dark because you can't tell how fast you're going and can only sense that the support bars are closeby (thus making you reluctant to raise your arms). Especially in WDW where the ride vehicle is one seat per row, making you feel more like you're riding a rocket alone through all that (an illusion that gets broken somewhat when there's someone [or an empty seat] next to you in DL). But it's also kinda creepy with the lights on too, being able to get so close to the inside of the ceiling of the giant dome that you normally only see from a distance or from the ground (almost like touching the sky). And you can actually tell how close the bars really are, which makes them seem even more dangerous (like some of the clearances on Big Thunder Mountain).
Lights on just shows how much Disney needs new rides and Epic is going to do some damage. But this ride still has its moments in the dark and it's nostalgic. I think with a track update to make it smoother and a good update this thing will be good for many years to come. But we know how Disney does updates. Only after it falls apart or they get pressure by outside forces.
Lights on or not you will always have space to travel for sure I've rode it many of times always gets better along the way just like being with God on Sundays.😅❤🎉 2:59
@@fallingstar_Yas No they don't. The Halloween version is in complete darkness, no stars or lightning effects at all and the Christmas version has Christmas music and strobe lighting whilst still being in the dark.

I'm gonna show this video to my son, calm his fears for his first ride on Space Mountain
It’s no that scary (Disneyland) but Disney World, yeah. Be terrified. It’s like put your hand up, nope
@SpeedyCrabbit1533 I have 90 credits, mainly on the east coast, and this and DarkCoaster are the only rides I don't put my hands up while riding
@ space (pun intended) from the track needs to be far away
@SpeedyCrabbit1533I have heard from a few CMs that someone actually lost a hand from putting up their arm.
I still remember vividly how much the drop at 02.07 in the video surprised me, and I was 12 and it was almost 30 years ago. Awesome ride.

Remembering the time I got my disabled, late mother to ride this with me. Great times, miss you mom.
So amazing you got it with the Lights on!! So glad I’m going in 12 days!!
Omg 😊 I got to go with the lights on. It was at Disneyland for the cast members holiday party. This was like December 2001. It's scary with them on.

So cool...
Awesome!!!
Ok so since the dark ride gives a "faster" feeling, did it feel "slower" with the lights on?
Whenever I ride this ride, I instinctively keep my head ducked

The secondquest is so correct on the comments
My thought exactly !
The lights are on alot at times of the year. Also the lights and music change over christmas during the ride.
NEAT! ❤
I like it better with the lights on. great vid as usual guys!
Love to see WDW offer this during the year. It’s less scary with lights on.

Yeah, Universal is known for their maintenance, like when the tongue fell off the T-Rex a few weeks ago and went down the drop
Rode the Disneyland one with lights on around 79 or 80.
This really shows how slow the sleds actually go!
Dang it man!!! I was off of work and could’ve gone 😢
There are a lot of lights on during MVMCP too. It's not as illuminated as this but enough to get the same effect.
Looks so slow with lights on. But during the dark it’s like 49 mph it feels like
Lights on or not you will always have space to travel for sure I've rode it many of times always gets better along the way just like being with God on Sundays.😅❤🎉 2:59
Thanks for making this happen. And all it cost was a bunch of money and a wrecked back, right?
More of light headedness and temporary heart rhythmic for me 😂
When was the last time Disney changed the ride vehicle design?
Must have been nice being a guest of a Club 33 member.
It was
Is it just me or does it look like especially towards the end that if you put your hands up, you can hit the bar or definitely the red tunnel
You actually can touch the top of the red tunnel. I’ve done it multiple times. I even touched the top of the blue tunnel a few times
@@justiceleaguebattleformetr9239 cause like that tunnel comes out of no wear so like what if you had your hands up. That’s gotta hurt 😭
When was this? I was there and rode SM several times the afternoon of Jan 15th? 98% of the people in the queue knew nothing of the anniversary...
Do you guys know how long it will be like this? I’m going in March and really hope I can do this!!
It was only for like an hour for a private event
They also do this during Christmas during the Christmas party as well as Halloween event
@@fallingstar_Yas No they don't. The Halloween version is in complete darkness, no stars or lightning effects at all and the Christmas version has Christmas music and strobe lighting whilst still being in the dark.
@ look I’m just basing it on 2022 when I had a DCP over there. N it was during the party event u had to extra for
@ also DCP ppl gets it with light off for training purposes
It's really not that scary at all! The speed for this ride is probably like in the middle
My first time on this ride the lights were on. It kind of ruined the illusion not gonna lie 😅
very blurry
Where lol
This ride makes me so sick
Yeah no it’s better in the dark it takes away the space element it’s just interior mountain now…
California’s is SO MUCH BETTER!! 🤷🏼♂️😎
California wouldn’t exist without this one
I hadn’t realized there were two tracks in WDW (only rode it once in 2017)… thought only one like DLR.
My all time favorite ride (at least at DLR). 🚀
