RAINBOW MOUNTAIN of the Philippines | Blue Soil Hills of Sagada vlog

    There are a couple places in the world where you can see Rainbow Mountains. Rainbow Mountain in Peru is a tough hike at over 4000m, and also the Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park in China. There is something a little bit similar, and my first day in the Philippines lead me to this strange place.
    In this travel Philippines vlog, we head 12h north of Manila to Sagada. Home of the hanging coffins, Marlboro Country and Blue Soil Hills.
    If you're a fan of beautiful nature, adventure, or seeing strange places, the blue soil hills and Marlboro County sunrise hike are epic.
    Most people head to Kiltepan for sunrise. Don't do that. Instead book this hike. I was one of only a few people there. Sunrise at Kiltepan is PACKED. After seeing this amazing show, you hike another 2 hours to Blue Soil Hills.
    Erosion has revealed a section of crumbling blue stone in the forest. Copper is responsible for this phenomenon. The copper in the soil reacts with the air and develops a patina. The fancy word for the green/blue coating you see on copper pennies or church roofs. This gives the soil a very unique appearance! You need to visit this place!
    If you're filipina or filipino, let me know where I should go next. I've just wrapped up my first week, and I'll be here for a month!

    Hey Mike. I just subscribed. Great vlog you got. Yeah, the blue soil was utterly surreal, man. I don't see this on any tourism marketing promos or from other vloggers. You are probably on to something. Now, the Blue soil will add fame to Sagada. Just hope it doesn't get spoiled with vendors and informal settlers crowding the place. But yes, the Philippines does have so much to offer, it's just incredible!!

    You shloud go to Mt. Pulag... You will sea real sea of clouds and the bamboo grass that you will not realized they're bamboo cause you're stepping on them.

      I’ll write it on my list! What island is it on?

    • @shanerhea528
      @shanerhea528 6 лет назад

      Its in Luzon, province of Benguet and atleast 4hours away from baguio. Try to google it i'm sure it will show up. Mt.pulag bokod/kabayan benguet. Its a very different scenery, walking through the thick mossy forrest and camping to the open bamboo grassland.

    • @brebreboolardoo5910
      @brebreboolardoo5910 6 лет назад

      Yeah been there last last year, its so nice, the only thing the ride is too long. Hahah

    • @danalexismarquez
      @danalexismarquez 6 лет назад

      Mt. Pulag is located in Municipality of Kabayan, Benuet, primarily the jump-off is in DENR office of Bokod, Benguet 2-3hrs away from Baguio City, you need to registered 1st in Denr and have a little time for orientation before you proceed to the Babalak Community which is the main jump-of Mt. Pulag Ambangeg Trail.
      There are 4 trails open for public specially for mountaineers and Ambangegbis the easiest trail among. every fridays to sunday DENR won't allow you to camp in Mt. Pulag Campsite you need to pay a homestay in Babalak station or camp there in the community, but every weekdays its allowed to camp in the campsite of Mt. Pulag.
      Anyways I am pretty sure you will love the scenerybof Mt. Pulag when its in good weather. However, there is a micro-weather in Mt. Pulag thats why the weather condition is unpredictable.
      you can message me on facebook :)

    Been a long time since I've been to the Philippines but I loved most everything about it when I was there. Since it was a week long business trip I didn't get to see everything but did see the culture from the main island, the poverty, the happiness, the wealthy, the seedy side but most of all the natural beauty of the water ways and the people in general.

    It was the pine trees that cause acidity to soil, hence pitcher plants that like acidic soil in that area.

    I saw the same soil in palok maragusan. But it's more of a gravel than soil coz they use it for making concrete mortars. You can't see it in the open though. you need to dig it under the surface.
