Thanks to all for your feedback. I wish you all the best with your English, your career and your lives. Even a small improvement can make a big difference, as explained in this lesson.
Hi Rebecca mam, I am Deepak from Mumbai(India)....I would like to thank you for sharing information through such a great way. It really help us to learn quickly. Thanks again.
As a native English speaker, I find these videos interesting as well. Never really thought about it before, but yeah if somebody just bluntly says "What do you want?" that does come across as somewhat rude. Although it they were obviously a non-native speaker, I'm sure most people would be willing to give them some leeway. :)
I’d love it if you went further into customer service so I can show my staff. They ask my customers if they want a bag, do you want a receipt, when do you want the order. I’d like them to say would you like a bag, would you like your receipt, when would you like your order. But I feel I’m being picky if I ask them to do this but it’s really winding me up every time I hear want. I want someone to explain that it’s politer and better English. Great video though thank you.
Hi Rebecca, I wonder whether we can use "would not like" in a sentence. I think it is not so common for people to use "wouldn't like" in a sentence. Could you please explain briefly to me? Thank you in advance..
Hi, it's really a useful & enjoyable lesson. It's quite easy to be polite but need more practice. At last i'd like to say thank you very much for uploading this video..
HI Rebecca really like your classes, all the teachers at Engvid are superb. I would like to ask you a question. Do you think reading in a new language is an important way or tool to improve?. Best wishes, Peter
I had this discussion with my girlfriend who asked me "Do you want to go to the park tomorrow". Whenever I hear 'want' I ask myself if I really need something. In this case, do I have the need or desire to go to the park? I didn't, but the question also makes me wonder if the person asking me has this desire and 'wants' me to have the same desire. Well, my girlfriend wanted me to go to the park, because she had the desire to go. I on the other hand 'did not' want to go but knowing my girlfriend I knew she was asking because she wants me to go to the park with her. So I said maybe. It would have been nicer of my girlfriend to have asked me "would you like to go to the park tomorrow". Which let's me know immediately that she wants me to go with her, but is understanding of my own desires in possibly not 'wanting' to go. Which I would have replied "Maybe"! :-)
thank you Rebecca. i really love your vedeos. i had a confusion about the using the words " could , Can, Would, Should, might " . so could you please send me some emails about these vedeos. i hope to get an answer from you and thank you for all what you do for us
Hey Rebecca, i have a question for you. Are you speaking in a normal speed? Because it's strange I understand almost everything, so because of this I think you are speaking slow... Commonly its very difficult to listening. And thanks for you lessons, best regards from Brazil.
