I would like to ask You the following about the third sentence, since, in my country it is very common to start using a negative form instead, for instance: Don't You think the price is too high? No matter how we phrase it, the 'tone' of the phrase matters a lot. It depends on the cultural background in which one is raised. Even short phrases can be used effectively by the tone. An example, the difference between a child uttering a phrase and an adult using a phrase.

The harsh and direct seems more efficient to me. Less words, to the point, and move on.
I agree with you that is the way English speakers take the words.
In Spanish we would change a verb to sound more polite, with no need to add 3 more words.
