I’ve gotten numerous royals holding a suited face and 10. I always go for the highest pay as that is how I gamble. Watching your previous plays, you normally don’t and you still win big. You normally hold unsuited face cards even if there is a 10 with the same suit. I think your play was consistent and nothing wrong with that. I’m glad you got the quads and got your money back. Thanks for the videos!
I don't know the math on it but I would imagine that you're not changing your expected return in the long term by much as long as you consistently make that same play. We all have a so called "bad play" that we like to make for some reason or another.....I know I do. To this date I will keep two face cards over a same color pair 5-10. It has never gave me the other pair. I've missed out on some trips but my jacks or better has probably leveled it out. Someday it will get me. It's wrong but I do it anyway. Heck sometimes I just don't know what the right play is so I revert to strategy for a similar game. In Andrews case, the wins seem big but in reality compared to his starting bankroll it is just a good day at the casino. 100,000 is life changing money for most..... maybe even him but the entertainment value is off the charts though. It takes stones to insert that kind of cash in a machine that you may not get back out of it. The pure gold is in the excitement level he provides us. Keep it up Andrew.......I watch religiously.
What do y’all mean by holding a “Suited 10” I just started playing video poker a few months ago, got my first Royal flush a few days ago, but I don’t know what y’all mean by a Suited 10
A wise old woman was sitting next to me when I first tried video poker. I wasn't going to hold the ten and she said you will never get a royal without it. I have played that way ever since
Despite the outcome, you did play the hand at 30:55 correctly. The strategy for Super Triple Bonus for Suited King-Ten, you only hold the King is there is (1) another suited card (with King-Ten) (2) if a 9 is present. In that deal, BOTH scenarios were in play.
I am so sorry. That happened to me last week and I used to always hold the ten with a same suited face card. But after watching so many video poker channels, I've started to not hold it sometimes without even thinking. I think it's programing from watching so much. My very first Royal was holding a king and ten of clubs about 25 years ago. Ugh. I feel your pain.
my first royal was tossing a pair of Queens to hold 3 to a royal. I knew NOTHING about video poker but did know poker. I got the Royal. It was also my very first trip that I played VP. I've been hooked ever since. lol
As said before the rng changes every millisecond. Supposedly the time it would have taken to hold the ten would change the draw. That said I'd be pissed too. Seems that kind of stuff always happens when you're losing. Last few years I've changed my royal holds to less than optimum strategy. Even though it hasn't improved my royals It makes me feel better
That's what I was thinking too. The rng probably would have changed the cards if he pressed the buttons in a different sequence?? Am I wrong in that line of thinking?
Actually, in Nevada video poker machines are required to be “serial” dealt machines, meaning at the time the hand is dealt, five replacement cards, in sequence, are pre-selected by the random number generator. Because those three cards are the first three drawn, he would have absolutely hit the Royal had he held the KT. It would have been the wrong play, but still…the pain is real. You can look this all up online.
I got to disagree with you here . My sister who lives in Vegas . Was playing video poker at the bar . She was the only one playing as there were at least 12 machines . She went to say hi to a friend . Held 2 cards to the Royal . Out of the 12 machines some asshat sits at her machine , she politely told him she has money in that machine . Guy decides to be a dooshbag and put up a fight . Little did he know my sister worked there and the 2 big ass security guys came over and checked dude who quickly left . She hit deal and boom boom boom Royal . At Least 3 to 4 minutes had past before she hit deal .
No reason to feel bad Slotm! They guarantee us that the payouts are random…. But the cards are not. They can be different depending on what we hold. We can’t fool the computer! If you had held differently the cards would not necessarily have been the same. Cheers!
Hello! Do you switch between games out of just wanting to mix it up or what is your thought process from going from bonus to triple double bonus after that run you made on bonus?
That was heart-breaking. And you would ordinarily hold K-10, J-10, or Q-10. I missed a royal 4 days ago by rejecting Q-A of hearts for a pair of sixes. Then the rest of the royal flushed out on the draw. I know I played "correctly" holding the pair since the royal wasn't over twice its normal size but I still felt crushed when the other pieces trailed in. The vagaries of gambling. I'm just glad to see that you remain positive and continue to optimistically bet big.
So, I've been wrong before, and it's not my money - just asking. When you have a 4 card straight, like 5-6-7-8, and the fifth card is a 5,6,7 or 8, I always thought you were supposed to chase the straight. Am I confused in my old age? I haven't played VP for real money in years, so I could be wrong, for sure.
At Red Rock Casino, I had to have a slot tech pay me back because of a malfunction and I asked her about the sequence of cards, she stated that from right to left is the order of your cards even though they are revealed left to right... Anyone heard it explained that way???
Strategically, poker calculators rank K 10 the third best hand based on expected return. There is a reason that people who use strategy are more successful at video poker. In the long run the numbers always work best using proper strategy. An old poker pro told me once to focus on the strategy not the result. Doesn't make it less painful though. After my three near misses this summer it starts to feel personal....lol. To those saying always go for the royal, if you always go for the royal what do you do with trip aces and suited JQ? Throw out the pair of aces and go for the royal? You don't always go for the royal. Game and pay table dictate the play.
Every card has a card behind. A slot tech showed me how it works many years ago. Each card is independent from the next. Just because you threw away the 10 of hearts in first card it does not move the ace of hearts to the 5th card.
Honestly, on this arcane pay table, I'm not sure if that was the right hold but it likely was. Even though I know it's not the optimal play, I often hold face/10 suited if there's nothing else since its disadvantage versus the optimal hold is usually negligible depending on the game. Also, like many have said in the comments, that's how I get most of my royals. Nothing wrong with either strategy, you just gotta do what feels right by you.
Love your videos, however don't like to see you hit the machine. I totally get the frustration, as it's happened to me as well. But, curse. all you want / need to. I'm always rooting for you
Aloha sir, We have all been there just last trip couple calls cost me it happens move on and kick there ass.. Thanks for showing good and bad When you headed back to LV?
Three fucking times this summer I played it right to watch the rest of my royal run out on the screen. No matter if it was correct, you still feel like puking.
You always keep the 2 to the Royal if that’s the best cards first dealt . As much as he plays baffled why he didn’t . But I bet he will from that moment on .
Yeah I noticed that to, he didn’t hold the best 2 of the Royals in a lot of his hands lol I’m shocked watching this and seein him hold the wrong cards so many times
Seeing that almost made me physically sick. A couple of years ago I had a K 10 suited and a J unsuited, and in Double Bonus you're supposed to hold K J. Needless to say, almost quit that day. Would have been an $8,000 win.
Like you I play a lot of ace advantage games and I have held 2 aces hands that also comprises 3 RF and on the draw holding 2 aces the other 2 RFs appear. It happens. I knew a player that practically goes for the RF on all non bird in hand draws and she swore by its strategy.
I know in 9/6 JoB how you played the K 10 was correct because a 9 card and another same suit was showing. I don't know the correct play for that game. Thanks for the videos.
That is correct, a rare play situation for Jacks or Better, not many know about. If it was 9/6 DDB, it would require holding King, 10 ,and the suited card to miss that Royal Flush
Maybe you meant to hit the button and it was sticky. This is something the gaming control board would get involved in. I've heard of this before and they paid the jackpot.
At first before I had time to process it, I thought “ wrong move” but I believe it not to be. The Ace came where the 10 was sitting, IMO, the Ace would have only popped up in that spot. I’ll admit, I don’t know the inner workings of the computer, but had you held that 10, the ace wouldn’t have surfaced
So the Ace of hearts replaced the 10 of hearts so I don't think it would have rolled out. There were a number of mistakes but I don't want you to hate me so not saying. LOL
Bummer! Wow, don’t know what to say without making you feel worse, I always hold the face card and ten, except with an Ace, but in bonus or JOB I’ll hold the ten with an ace or any face card. Hard to keep playing after that. You’ll come back and hit something big again!
31:01 Good job..!! $20.000 donated to the casino..!! this should be an expensive lesson to learn from , never ever throw a way a suited face card, you do know the "ten" is a face card and without it there is no such thing called ROYAL FLUSH...dummy.
@Paul is it required to say "only" nice things when posting a comment ?? do you really know what it means to "comment" on something ?? obviously , you don't..!!
@Paul telling the "truth" has nothing to do with "negativity", for some one who tells the viewers he is more than 99% accurate in playing video poker and he is rich and it's his money and does "NOT" needs your advice, then ask for your donation and join his channel..!! the truth he is full of it..!! your positivity is nothing but "hypocritical" feed back to an arrogant person , and by the way, can you name one positive thing he is doing by posting his (glorified) videos ??
@Paul I am glad we agree on something, I have nothing against Andrew as a person, I lived most of my life in Las Vegas and worked in the casinos, I 've been playing video poker for over 40 years I've hit a lot of jackpots (3000+) I used to play almost every day, and you know what I still lost more than a million dollars over the years, one thing I don't like and I don't understand is for some one to think playing high stakes video poker qualifies him as an expert or at least as an almost a perfect video poker player and all he got show for is getting a hand pay for a quad or even three of kind ($1500) while playing $500 a hand..!! it's ok to post your video for every body to watch and enjoy, it does not matter if you playing 5 cents or $500 a hand just be real and humble and don't brag about how good you are , don't give the younger people a false sense or impression that gambling is not dangerous and you can make a living doing it, just like the old days, when young people running a way from home to Hollywood to be movie stars, I believe you know the rest of story, I see "them" in every traffic stop light and under the bridges all over Las Vegas.
Vp machines don’t work that way. They use a continuous rng. If you held the king and 10, you would have pressed draw at a different nano second, so you would not have had the same draw cards.
I threw away 2 in the last 2 months. The first was my fault, dealt K - 10. Only kept K. I now know better. The second I was dealt J-J-J-10-A. Kept the 3 Jacks.....
@31:03 - If you held the 10 ❤, you would have hit the Royal.... Because there were 3 heart cards, K,10 and 3, you did play it correctly just holding the K. In hind site, it's like WTF! Especially with how sour this machine has been. LOL! It gave you a consolation prize :)
I couldn’t find the game on my vp analyzer…but the closest I found is triple bonus+kings and it said the right hold on Kh10h5h7c9d is to hold Kh10h5h. Anyway, the Ah fell on the 10h position, don’t think you would of got it, who knows…But yah…annoying. Been there done that…many times 😡
Here's my quandary and maybe you or someone else can shed some light on this. Are 10 cards dealt with the other 5 underneath, or is the re-draw from the top of the deck so to speak? 🤔
6 hands prior to the almost could have been Royal he held two to the Royal . If there aren’t any pairs and the best starting cards is 2 to the Royal you always play the two 2 the Royal . It’s how I hit my last Royal.
Gut wrenching. But I think anyone that plays a lot has run into that same situation. It does make you feel any better. But switching to 5 dollars from 20. Meant losing from 80k to only 10k. I know I'm a jack for even saying it. Keep your chin up.
Here comes the not helpful comment, it happened to me too. Got a pair of Q's with another suited royal card and bam the other cards came up. I know how that feels. Gut punch. I get the so mad I stopped filming.
Jesus, that was painful...especially after a long, sh*tty session like that. I look at it this way...John "The Master," when he hit his 3 royals in one day, hit his 2nd 8k royal only holding ONE card, the Ace. This tells me one thing...if there's a Ten with that Ace and/or any other Face Card, and it's the same suit, F*ck it, I'm holding the Ten too and going for the royal. Is it "proper" play? I would surmise it's not on a game that pays big for Quad Aces, but I'm still holding it and going for the Royal...
@slotmassacre Those royal cards were not pre determined before hand so it is highly likely if you would have held the 10 the you would not have gotten those cards anyway. Still though i get that it is a sickener all the same
Don't worry you wouldn't have got that royal if you to held the 10 H . It was in the wrong spot. The 10 of hearts would have been on the far right side. When you hit deal/draw, it spits out 10 cards. 5 and five on top. Ask a slot tech to show you your last hand sometime, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
You played that right. Think of it as not holding suited A/10. I'm sure you'll see KQJ of that suite drawn someday, but you'd never hold A/10 despite of it
From what I was told years ago about video poker. You threw the 10 of hearts away and the Ace of hearts appeared in spot. If you held the 10 of hearts the Ace of hearts would have never appeared. You would have had 10 of hearts, King of hearts, Queen of hearts, Jack of hearts. The Ace of hearts does not shift down to the 5th card (4 of clubs). The cards don't shift down. There are five cards to draw on each are separate from the next. You would have never got the royal flush. If the Ace of hearts appeared on the fifth card from the right. You would have missed the royal flush by throwing the 10 away.
JP, you are 100% correct, when a slot tech looks at the history it shows 5 top cards and 5 bottom cards..they fill straight down (behind), not left to right. Think of it as five positions. Position: A-B-C-D-E These cards are filled with cards: F-G-H-I-J So card A becomes card F; card B becomes card G, and so on. There was no changing that 4 of clubs.
@@timspeedinc not in Vegas anymore. You’re describing “parallel dealing,” which used to be the way they were structured. This no longer exists in Nevada. The VP machines now use “serial dealing,” where the five replacement cards are in order. If you only drop one card, the first card in order will always come out first, irrespective of which card from the original deal you keep. This continues on throughout the series of randomly generated cards. Long story short, Andrew absolutely would have hit that Royal had he kept the KT, it just would have been the wrong play.
Honestly suited for royal...depends we've all been there I would've gone for it but with rng ??? I did it holding an Ace Triple double dropped ten of diamonds then...Q J K .. was like dang.
It was the correct play. Even for the lesser variance Super Double Bonus (this game was Super Triple Bonus) for a suited Queen and 10, if there is another same suit, you drop the 10 and only hold the Queen because the Quad Queens are worth so much.
Holding the suited 10 has gotten me many a royal. :)
I always hold the suited ten.
I don't know the math on it but I would imagine that you're not changing your expected return in the long term by much as long as you consistently make that same play. We all have a so called "bad play" that we like to make for some reason or another.....I know I do. To this date I will keep two face cards over a same color pair 5-10.
@@rbailey225 That's right if u play big $ u play whatever u want

A wise old woman was sitting next to me when I first tried video poker. I wasn't going to hold the ten and she said you will never get a royal without it. I have played that way ever since
And you can never hit a royal when you hold all face cards, regardless of the suit. This guy does not play well.
You never got 4 aces with the kicker when you hold the 10 :)
Yea I was about to ask y??
I can vouch for someone who held a 10 and Ace of Diamonds on Jacks or Better; Hit a Royal! It’s one of those iffy hands to play.
Andrew…You have inspired me! Good job! ❤️👏❤️👏

Look it up on Super Triple Bonus; you’re chastising him for making the right play. STB has a very peculiar strategy.
That’s why I always hold the same suited 10 with any J, Q or K but not the Ace. I’ve hit several royals that way.
I am surprised that when you are having a super bad run on a machine you don’t switch machines do you ever do that ?

I’m going to tell you something, I’ve done that and told them I accidentally missed the button and got paid both times
Damn you Royal Flush tease 😳
Vp machines don’t work that way. They use a continuous rng. If you held the king and 10, you would have pressed draw at a different nano second, so you would not have had the same draw cards.
This is wrong, at least in Nevada.
Cards #1 through #10 are fixed at the time of the initial deal.
You can look this up on many websites.
John C you are wrong Sir. State of Nevada is different
I threw away 2 in the last 2 months. The first was my fault, dealt K - 10. Only kept K. I now know better. The second I was dealt J-J-J-10-A. Kept the 3 Jacks.....
I’ve been binge watching lately and I knew that 10 was gonna bite u sooner or later.. hate that for u
They say it would not have happened. that extra button would have changed his timing a split second and those 3 RF heart cards go bye bye.
I've hit more then 1 royal holding the 10, and will continue to do so.
you need the ten for the royal, I've hit few royals by holding just the ten.
Here's my quandary and maybe you or someone else can shed some light on this. Are 10 cards dealt with the other 5 underneath, or is the re-draw from the top of the deck so to speak? 🤔
I didn't like the Creepy Weird Music at the Ene. I like hearing the Casino Sounds and You making comments, it gives Me my Casino fix.
I always hold the 10 with everything but the Ace. Has hit like that a lot. Sorry man.
6 hands prior to the almost could have been Royal he held two to the Royal . If there aren’t any pairs and the best starting cards is 2 to the Royal you always play the two 2 the Royal . It’s how I hit my last Royal.
$20.000 mistake. this should not happen to a professional poker player.
UNLUCKY, BUT TY VM FOR SHOWING HOW TO GET THE ROYAL :0)
I don't understand why you keep half the cards you do. 🤔
Still though i get that it is a sickener all the same
I know. There are a few old Bally’s machines in Vegas that still do preset the cards. Maybe I’ll track them
Down one day. Thx
Give thxs.. gratitude can change everything
what the hell is with the music? :)
Can’t believe he did this😡😡😡
You played that right. Think of it as not holding suited A/10. I'm sure you'll see KQJ of that suite drawn someday, but you'd never hold A/10 despite of it
Ehh it's part of the game....nothing wrong you did
From what I was told years ago about video poker.
Wrong sir....get your facts straight
Tim ask a slot tech show you one day before you say I am wrong. You see the first 5 cards and the second five cards. There are 10 cards on screen.
JP, you are 100% correct, when a slot tech looks at the history it shows 5 top cards and 5 bottom cards..they fill straight down (behind), not left to right. Think of it as five positions.
Position:
A-B-C-D-E
These cards are filled with cards:
F-G-H-I-J
So card A becomes card F; card B becomes card G, and so on.
You played it right. Would not have been the RF outcome if you held the 10. Nice quad recovery though. 👍 😎
Sorry but that’s not true. He would’ve had the royal flush.
Wrong! Gotta hold the 10
You totally would have had the royal, you’ve been on tilt for like 15 minutes soooooo.
Honestly suited for royal...depends we've all been there I would've gone for it but with rng ??? I did it holding an Ace Triple double dropped ten of diamonds then...Q J K .. was like dang.
Slow down. You missed 44 once and another pair
Yep I noticed that too
Sorry about the royal. Hard one to take
Have you ever flipped off a machine? I've done so a million times. 🙃
That was a ball breaker but I think you held correctly
It was the correct play. Even for the lesser variance Super Double Bonus (this game was Super Triple Bonus) for a suited Queen and 10, if there is another same suit, you drop the 10 and only hold the Queen because the Quad Queens are worth so much.
Done it myself , hurts a little . ...
