    I am 67 years old and drove a truck 47 years I have always hunted and fished but due to bad shoulders I never fly fished . Over the last 3 year's I have had both of them replaced and many,many hours of reb. My reward is fly fishing of all the videos I have watched this is by far the best. Thank you so much . I am in love with Joan and the help form her.

    I enjoy watching the elegance and grace of the ladies on the LPGA. They don’t power the ball down the fairway. This is no different. On a good day I may be able to cast 80 feet. Total respect for this artist..

    I taught myself to fly fish at 10yrs old.... my first gear was a Martin combo set for $40 out of a New Mexico supermarket..... there was a Joan Wolf book included....... I fell in love with the sport ......I've been fly fishing for 35 years and I cherished every second of it.... so I dedicate all my trophy catches on the fly to THIS WOMAN..... a true icon in an obscure sport. Thank you!!!!

    Its obvious to me she knows her stuff. She is so eloquent, never misses a beat, and you can tell this isn't rehearsed, but deeply understood. I have fallen in love with fishing over last 2 years and have only been spin casting. I just got a fly rod and am SO excited to try these instructions. It seems she has specific and demonstrable tips for about any scenario one could dream!

      Great! Yeah she teaches those small intricate stuff that most don't elaborate on for some reason, because it is important to get what she is saying. It got me to understand what i was doing wrong. Also, I had a fast action rod, not recommended for beginners.

    Thank you Joan, I physically felt that my cast had improved by following your advice. At 55 I am a fairly new fly fisherman. I am becoming quite passionate about the many aspects. It has become my main hobby and pastime. Making my own flies and leaders/droppers etc. If i get to be half as good as you I will be doing ok. We live and learn and it's nice to live and learn fly fishing. X

    Hi Joan. I used to cast with all the casters, but Carol Green was a great as well. I new Lee, but Jim Green, Steve Rajeff and many others drove me. I enjoyed casting much more than fishing. I could go all day just watching the loop and not caring about fish!

    I love Joan Wulff! I had R.L. Winston custom make a Boron III+ ,9', 5wt with the Joan Wulff thumb alignment depression carved into the western grip. This depression helps immensely in my power snap. I switched to Wulff triangle fly lines several years ago and love them too. I have all her books on casting and I'm pretty sure all her DVD's. It's well worth your time to practice (on the lawn really) and master each of the casts she teaches before moving to the next more difficult one. This will take quite a lot of practice to perfect it. For all the products and instructions Joan has developed, I'm very grateful to Joan!

    Thanks for doing that Joan! Can't believe you misspelled her name in the Title. Very good content. Interesting perspective from a woman's side. Even some humor...at one point she tells you, you don't have to reach with your rod, during the casting stroke, when she is the poster child for reaching and they show that picture 100 times over during the video. Could have made it about 10 minutes shorter without all the repeats.

      Yes, and Lee was a legend in his own right. He was known for trampling the ‘aristocratic snob’ attitude that many old-timers promoted, to show and encourage the ‘common man’ to try fly fishing. I’ve seen old movies made of his fishing where he tied a fly BY HAND, no vise, on the bank, then proceeded to wade in and start catching fish with it! Amazing guy, and a legendary couple. Joan was the ‘show-woman’, who demonstrated casting by keeping 100’ of line in the air false casting, with TWO rods at once, one in each hand, while wearing a ball gown, at sportsman shows!

    • @Cigarhiker
      @Cigarhiker 5 лет назад +1

      The line goes where the rod tip stops. If your line/leader is going to the left it is because you are stopping the rod tip slightly left, not straight ahead. I had the same problem until I checked out Lefty Kreh's four principles of fly casting. Much, much simpler concept and allows one to easily self-correct without worrying about exactly what angle your arm was at, whether you stopped at the right place, etc., etc.. Joan Wulff is truly a fly fishing/casting icon but I find these instructions needlessly complex.
