I caught four snappers last weekend (3 keepers), I used sparrows as bait since they float to the top. I've found them to be a little more successful than meat that sinks.
Do you ever add weight to your lines.... I am thinking of a spot that has many small lilly pads and the bait line will lay on top. Does it matter if bait sinks to bottom or stays elevated?
never caught a snapping turtle but when i carp fish i catch small water turtles on the corn almost every time on certain ponds. I wish everyone kept every turtle they caught.. they are such nuissance
Another red neck eating turtles just what we need. You should go down south a few states and do that. Hopefully a 250 lb alligator snapper will take your hand off .A double cheeseburger costs $1.49 at McDonald’s.You should eat some slugs from your grass in the morning too! Hopefully you get ray lung worm
@@bonewildtv Holding animals by the tail like that is just abusive, doesn’t matter whether you are going to eat them or not. It can paralyze and/or kill them. Would you hold your dogs up by their tail?
No fancy manicured pond... alright, sounds good. I wanted to keep my water clear as possible so I know the fish in there can breathe but that isn't good for the turtles... Well, maybe I can do half and half then, so fish will like one side and turtles will like the other side.
I'm 9 year's old and with your tips I caught a 11 pound snapping turtle by hand
+Vivj Jon good job

That sure looked like a good turtle pond! You've got a nice batch of turtles in the tank there! Some good eating for sure!

In PA the smallest hooks we can use have to have a 3 inch shank and a 1 inch gap
I read it as a 3.5" long and 1" between tip and shank in the Pa. Regs.?

Does the eye of the hook have to be normal or should I get one which is especially big

Today I caught 2 snapping turtles and shot them is that fine
You should always let them soak in water for a few days if you can. Clean the mud out of them.
i love snappers please do not harm them
Unfortunately, snappers can be a menace. I read a good article about snappers in China not long ago and how they impacted the ecology.
keep it as a pet
I spoke to a turtle and it told me it feels absolutely no pain with a hook stuck inside its gut while a human is pulling it out of the pond.
