    Thanks for the review. Yours is the 3rd review I have seen so far, but the first so far, to go beyond swatching and performing your tests (I know other channels will do that testing). I was AMAZED as well with the packaging. So many layers, And so much tape, it took ME 20 minutes to get that tin opened! IMO, Amazon needs Ohuhu to teach them how to package art supplies (and other fragile products)

      @@BarbBColorReader I'm honestly scared to buy fragile supplies from Amazon. I had an Amazon driver literally throw a package at my front door.

    I see if you use a light pressure those color pencils are real smooth looking when coloring. What I need to know is how do they compare to Kalour and Brutfuner color pencils. Thank you for your time. I love a swatch a trial always. 🤗❤️👍🏽💯

    Thanx for your review. I don’t usually care much for oil based pencils but decided to give em a try anyways. The other reviews that I have watched didn’t go into depth/testing as yours did & I feel much better having ordered them myself (along with a set of 24 markers that appear to be “new” colors & a new “brush supreme” tip/nib). Now I am even more anxious for them to arrive Tuesday! Thank u again! 😊

    They are already sold out in Canada. The alcohol markers are sold out everywhere. I think they need to out source production to keep up with the demand. Weren’t these just released?

    • @EnderZigg

      @@michellemennaman3220 they’re in stock on Amazon right now and the markers just had a huge restocking that took a couple days to sell out. I gave up stalking their Ohuhu warehouse site (for Canada) and stalked Amazon instead as per Redditor advice and it paid off.

    The gold pencil is the most accurate golds I've seen in a colored pencil. Would like to know how they compare with the original set as I have the 168 set purchased several years ago back around 2017/2018.

    I just ordered a set 4 days ago. Sooo wanting to try them out! I didn't know ohuhu had made colored pencils awhile back! Like 2017. With shipping and all I paid $56.68. I hope I like them. Out of all the sets I have, I usually go to prismas and artistos reg a d watercolor pencils. I use them together because there is diff colors in the wc set. Oh and I like using Black Widows o. Rita bermans and hannah karlzon.

    Thats fine but they are impossible to get in the UK. Amazon wont even admit they exist and everywhere else is listed as no shipping to the UK. The only people who seemvto have them are utubers who are connected to ohuhu.

    I don't see any other comments with this issue, so I am probably just being blind (which happens a bit). However, I can't find the associate link for the product. I found the coupon code (ty for that, btw), but not the link.

    Hmmm. Colour me interested, lol… That said, I must preface this comment with the fact that I do own full sets of nearly every artist-grade pencil on the market, so do I NEED more coloured pencils? No, I do not. However, I am always interested in anything new and shiny and affordable, and I trust Ohuhu as a brand - love their alcohol markers, and their fineliners are also quite lovely.
    I am skeptical about lightfastness in this set, which downgrades them in my books. That said, I’d be willing to take a chance on them if they had colours that aren’t just the same ol’ cobalt blue or violet or hookers green that you get in every set. So, what is your opinion on their colour range? Do they feel very similar to colours you already have, or are there some that feel unique? Even though I have a *large* collection, I feel like I often turn to the same colours time and again. I’m also always looking for good blending options - like very dark values, or pastels. I have what feels like a million mid-tones, and many of those midtones are almost interchangeable (differentiating on very subtle differences in subjective feel). But I would love to welcome more light values for blending and burnishing, as well as very dark values for contrast.
    I’m also interested in how the pigment load feels compared to artist-grade? I do have a set of under-used Castle Arts Gold, and while they’re quite nice pencils, it takes me about double the time to layer the values I want, compared to a Polychromos or Caran D’Ache Luminance. That said, I also have a Brutfuner set, which, though they’re not likely lightfast, layer up almost as well as my Holbeins, and I use them all the time. So, what are your thoughts on pigment load and ease/enjoyment of use?

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  7 дней назад

      So, they don't share the lightfast ratings, and like I said in the video, I don't give them full credit for being lightfast because not only are the ratings not there, but budget brands tend to not be genuinely lightfast (after all, it costs money to make a lightfast pencil with quality pigments). That said, I wouldn't care about lightfast in a coloring book. It's not exposed to sunlight so it's not a big deal and I'm not framing them. If I were, then lightfast would be an issue.
      Thee color range is similar, but so are most brands, so I don't mind the color range at all. I did mention in the video my thoughts on color range though, so you might want to check that out.
      The pigment load is quite nice, but if you watch my layering test you can see for yourself to get an idea.

    Professional grade, or just some nice pencils to play around with? Usually making them lightfast drives the price up - and no individual rating on the pencils? What are they defining as “lightfast”? Hmmmm. Well, color me “skeptical” for the moment. I guess I really want to see a comparison with other oil-based pencils like Polychromos.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  7 дней назад +3

      Since they don't have lightfast ratings, I wouldn't classify them as artist grade/professional grade. They may have done tests, but they don't have the results, and honestly, this is a budget pencil so I'm not calling them lightfast.

      These are actually quite smooth. Also if you're comparing to Astra pastels keep in mind those have white mixed in which makes them smoother regardless
