Still love the old terrytoons, mighty mouse, heckle and jeckle, deputy dawg and the rest,we need to see these on good dvd copies not bootleg, although RUclips does have pretty good quality episodes!
@dpf4058 But the TV prints have stuff cut out of them, apparently just for time. The TV print of the Heckle and Jeckle cartoon "Happy Landing" is missing the ending. (A theatrical print of "Happy Landing" can be found online, for comparison.)
I'm curious to how Mighty Mouse exists. DC Comics/Warner Bros. were then and are now quite protective about one of their flagship icons, namely Superman in this case. How did Terrytoons get away with it?
DC was too busy suing Marvel and others over things like Captain Marvel ("Shazam") which looked more like a direct copy. Mighty Mouse, on the other hand, was intended from the beginning to be a parody, which is protected from copyright infringement lawsuits. He even started off as "Super Mouse" with a blue and red outfit, but that was only a few episodes before they changed him to "Mighty Mouse", and soon changed the outfit to yellow and orange. Add to that, I suspect Terrytoons was largely "Judgement-Proof", meaning, you can win all the judgement you want, they didn't have enough money to pay it.
Exciting enough with lots of action and bullets flying around. But even if they were recycling footage from previous cartoons they changes in the design concept for the mice, long limbed, short limbed, clothed or not clothed (the cats too) were distracting.
Yes- especially when, during the final chase, two cats running in the stove become FOUR cats......and, when Mighty Mouse hurls them into the tree, they become FIFTEEN cats!
hey? where's the damsel in distress? dang! If I'm MM, I'm not doing a rescue for Ol' Mammy at 0:40 !!
Mr. Trouble never hung around, when he heard that Mighty sound.....
I love mighty mouse...Its really nice...
The bullets hitting the house had a nice beat you could dance to.

At 5:20, the tree is growing 15 cats and they are all stuck. Thanks to Mighty Mouse. Mighty Mouse was popular cartoon during World War II.
