I’m taking this opportunity to share my favorite piece of AC lore: in ACNL, Occasionally when talking to Lyle from HHA, you can ask him ”What’s new” and he will spill some tea about Tom Nook. One thing Lyle will tell you about is that Tom Nook and Timmy & Tommy became business rivals when they opened their one store. He even tried to spy on them through their store window

Another fun fact! Mable and Sable's Italian names are Agostina and Filomena, their shop's name is an abbreviation of their names, making it "Ago&Filo", which translates too "needle and thread"!
In Japanese all three sisters are named after fabric
Sable - Asami = hemp
Label/Labelle - Kotono/Keito = cotton/wool
Mabel - Kinuyo = silk
Curiously Asami sounds similar to Hasami which means scissors

I actually found Katie wondering around in my town in Wild World a few months ago. My brother has Kaitlin in his town & we only play together through "DS to DS" with the Nintendo DS. So, it still is possible to see them both in Wild World without an actual online connection.
There are actually 7 amiibo cards for Isabelle! Along with the 6 you mentioned, there was a Isabelle promo card in the September/October 2015 issue of the Japanese magazine Pikopuri. There was also a K.K. Slider promo card in the April/June 2016 issue.

just one little correction, katie is also in new leaf! she asks you to take her to someone else's town. only her mother doesn't come back, but katie is still able to be seen at least in one game

I have a very special place in my heart for porter and champ. porter shares a birthday with me! he's also one of the least popular special characters, but i still have a sticker and a plushie of him. accf was my first animal crossing game and champ was one of my neighbors growing up. i ADORED him. his shirt is my favorite color and he was always so sweet to me. I was absolutely heartbroken to find out he was the ONLY villager cut after city folk. i want them to bring him back so bad

This video made me so happy. I love your content anyway but deep dives into AC lore are just my thing. Now I realized that having bought so many special character Amiibos for NH (I think, actually all of them now) to complete my existing collection, I totally have to go back to Happy Home Designer and create homes for them because of all the lore tidbits you get in this game when you're chatting with them afterwards, even more than in HHP.

On random nights, Wisp appears on your island from 8pm to 5am. Just keep checking around your island daily in between those times, you'll find him eventually.

Pete doesn't really appear in a traditional sense. Phyllis has to be invited to the Roost and she'll invite Pelly and Pete along with her.

One fact that I learned recently while replaying Animal Crossing HHD for the 3DS, was the fact that Lottie can sometime not wear makeup some days. Apparently Lottie can sometimes oversleep, and didn't have enough time to put on make-up when getting ready to go to work. She also even tells the player to not look at her face, meaning that she is actually pretty insecure about herself if she isn't wearing make-up. When I first saw this, I honest to god got genuinly freaked out about it because I thought it was a glitch in the game.
frillard is mentioned in new leaf by dr shrunk as he was shrunk’s comedy mentor and even does the jokes he did in city folk!

adding onto the fact for jingle, only MALE reindeer shed their antlers in the winter. Female reindeer grow their antlers in the winter!
this wasnt the only character to be implied to possibly be transgender in accidental design choices or text dialogues- Sahara was originally male in the Japanese versions of the game, but was made to be female for English audiences. I dont remember which but one of the Able Sisters (I believe it was Label) had some text in what I believe was Pocket Camp or amiibo festival about changing her name to feel more like her true self, which a lot of people took as a reference to trans people changing their name from their deadname to their real name! And of course we have the characters Shino and Sasha, while not special characters, are very much gender non-conforming characters or even possibly trans :)
Not everything is about trans nonsense. It's literally just character design and changes to fit the region it's going to. Stop trying to pin woke trash on everything, especially this franchise that doesn't give 2 shits about LBTQRSTUVWXYZ junk
Julia is trans since only biologically male peacocks are colourful like she is 🥰
It is Label who makes the comment about changing her name! Originally she went by Labelle in her first appearance (City Folk i think?) a name Gracie suggested as a pseudonym so she would stand out more in the fashion industry! (Also because she had run off from Able and Sable cause of their parents death, so she probably didn’t want to associate her name with them anymore.)
She continues using it again in New Leaf, but after leaving to become a fashion designer on her own, she went back to her birth name, Label, and used Labelle as her brand name so she could continue to feel connected to both Gracie and her roots! (yes i know a lot about a fictional hedgehog but i love the Able Sisters let me have my fake hedgehogs)

gracie was a dude in the japanese version of the game but changed to girl on localization. i wonder if that was due to homophobia given the characters gender nonconforming appearance... blanca was also originally a dude, not sure why they changed that tho

The way deers work in animal crossing is that males have antlers and females don't, none b of the male deer villages will shed their antlers in winter either

Dagnel, I'm sorry but I politely disagree on Frillard being the most obscure special character for the simple fact that I don't think anyone would naturally try to THROW AN AXE INTO THE FOUNTAIN. Just... *what!?* I haven't been this perplexed upon discovering an AC feature before... lol.
*But* you could argue Serena is more consistently attainable, whereas Frillard requires RNG (seeing him appear in one of select few theater performances), so it's not a baseless claim-- I'll give you that.

City Folk was my first ac game and i will never forget how much i stressed over getting my hair done. i wanted to look cool so i would look up guides everytime. did that for 10 years before NH let me move on from my hair style torment
I must admit I felt the same way and that was my 1st ac game but I have ww and nh
As a City Folk OG, I decided to use my Mii instead because the quiz always ended up making my character’s hair just look way too ugly! Not that the Mii was any better, but this was before i knew guides existed

@@mirasdiary i played City Folk religiously as a child. Whenever i got enough bells, i always went to see the comedy shows cause i thought by watching them all, it would let me use all of the emotions instead of having to choose just 4 (and either i was wrong or somehow i never saw them all)

orville and wilbur do have one difference between their character models. wilbur has darker eyelids and his neutral expression has slightly droopy eyelids. you can see it if you replace his sunglasses with a pair of glasses where you can see his eyes (I ran a tumblr blog called villagerdetails where I documented this sort of stuff for every character)
Isabelle actually has a 7th amiibo card that was an exclusive bonus with an issue of character parfait magazine. it's the only card I don't have, since I didn't want to shell out $100+ for a card that's exactly like her summer outfit card but in a different pose
one of my favourite facts is all the holiday special NPCs have birthdays on their holiday (or around their holiday if it's not always on the same day). animal crossing celebrates american thanksgiving, but franklin's birthday is in october around canadian thanksgiving

One small inaccuracy I noticed:
You can actually see Kaitlin without using WiFi in animal crossing wild world, provided you use local play and connect with friends. I'm not 100% sure of the conditions, but I'm positive I never connected to the internet on my ds, and got her through playing local play with friends. From what I can tell, if you've played local play before, you have a chance of finding her, and you can use local play again to return her to her mother. The AC Wiki entry seems to mention this as well.

I love your videos on Animal Crossing so much. I've recently been in Shakespeare hell while having to write a great deal about several of the tragedies and I was surprised to see that Flick is a Shakespeare goth, haha... Also many villagers are trans, intersex or nonbinary coded because they display animal traits from the opposite sex. An example is Julia, she is female but male peacocks are the ones with colorful tail plumage for attracting peahens. Some characters like Gracie and Sahara are also the opposite gender in the Japanese versions of the game
You may be overthinking the first one a bit, strictly following gender traits would just limit their possibilities too much. Sahara's gender was changed because Western players could not understand why a male character had long eyelashes

The Katie and Kaitlin fact is actually not true for Wild World! For them to appear you need to have visited someone else’s town at least once, and in Wild World you don’t actually need wifi to do that, you can still visit other people’s towns via wireless connection ^^

Not sure of someone pointed it out already but you made a small mistake with the reindeer there because only the males shed their antlers in the winter, meaning every reindeer character shown with antlers in the winter would be a female :)

On the talk of Tom and father figures he did raise Timmy and Tommy as he found them as orphans on the road and gave them their own business to learn the basics of life, also related but Tom donates 90% of his earnings to an orphanage because of this

Also there’s seemingly a big age gap between Sable and Mabel, so it’s possible only Mabel saw him as a father figure. Plus it would be kinda weird to see a childhood friend (which Sable and Tom were) as a father figure…

Sable is implied to have feelings for Tom but never explicitly confirmed
Sable and Tom where childhood friends, he supported her when her parents died and was said to be like a big brother, which may or may not imply a small age gap
Fun fact, Gracie, Saharah and Blanca are male in the Japanese versions of the games and female everywhere else (except Korea iirc)
Saharah and Blanca were changed by accident because the localizers for AC didn't have any indication for gender like they did for villagers, so they thought Saharah's eyelashes and name, and likely Blanca's voice made them female. Gracie was changed intentionally because in Japan she's a caricature of transgender people and crossdressers. As the video pointed out they made her real name "Gretchen Gruntch" in English but in Japanese it's essentially a slur…
