I will take Verster's words. If I EVER, EVER, see incidents about Line 5 when it opens, I will absolutely blame him. The level of completion of this project for the time it takes should allow NONE, ZERO issue when Line 5 is in service, as we were told and expected.

I still don’t understand why the Eglinton Crosstown was not extended to Pearson Airport in the West and Scarborough Town Centre in the East using the existing Scarborough RT route and stations. The money wasted on extending Line 2 to STC could have been used to extend Line 4 the Sheppard Subway to STC. This way we would have a more convenient and complete transit system.😂😂

My guess is that the difficulty with these LRT lines is that when it’s on the surface block signalling is used but in the tunnels CBTC/moving block/in cab signals are used. Integrating these 2 systems is usually very difficult and the usual solution is to launch with a combination of line of sight operations and operating at lower speeds until the signalling issues can be resolved. My guess is that these LRTs will open with line of sight operation, as for when it will occur it will happen just before the next election campaign begins.

It's unfortunate that Metrolinx is getting the blame, but they're the project sponsor. Look carefully at all the other projects currently underway in the GHTA, and the consortiums that are involved. There's only one consortium that includes SNC-Lavalin, and that's Crosslinx.
Crosslinx is now subject to millions and millions of dollars in fines as per the Project Agreement, paid to Metrolinx and IO. Crosslinx, and specifically SNC-Lavalin, are the ONLY reason this project is so badly messed up.
