Tips: choose emett as your captain, his ability that gives you two of each material everyday is super useful. I also recommend only taking 2-3 people, a 4th is useless and I only take a 3rd to be safe. Focus mainly on soup as it’s the biggest danger, just have one person scavenge and keep making food till you win

Actually... the heart would be either the crystal because it generates the clock signal, or the full bridge rectifier inside the PSU because it "pumps" power to the entire system. Also if we're talking about system critical components, the power cable is also just as important...

For the best crew pick:Emmett as captain:he’s the smartest and has a bit of agility, baby:he’s the strongest and very loyal, Deedee:she’s has the most agility and can go longer without food, and finally pick one of the two remaining crew members they are mostly dead weight, or just leave them behind. The top most important items are in order: soup ,resource,communicator,artifact,gun and what ever else you can grab.
ONLY FEED EVERYONE WHEN THEY ARE STARVING!!!!

Tips (Event tho I'm 3 years late):
Choose Emmet as the captain since he can produce chemicals for soup (cure hunger), sock (cure insanity), and med-kit (cure ailments and injuries). Otherwise, making a crewmate with a positive morale successfully help you makes them a 'Payload Officer' in which they produce only one chemical every day permanently until they die. Comms Officer makes power and another officer I forgot the name makes minerals.
While scavenging on the ship, if you find a cafeteria, you can find a machine that spits out limited amounts of soup cans. This can save you some time.
Grab at least two crafting supplies. Each will give you 30 of the material shown, or, if you got a box that has [? ?] on it, it gives you 30 of a random material.
Being well-fed is not necessary and might actually cause trouble if you are selfish and stay well-fed while your crewmates are starving. You wouldn't want *traitors* or *enemies* right?
There are five types of hazards.
1) Spiked Grass ~ Can be countered with Armor
2) Biohazard ~ Can be countered with Gas Mask
3) Darkness ~ Can be countered with Lighter
4) Monsters ~ Can be countered with Gun
5) Pentagram ~ Can be countered with Artifact
Being careless about the hazards can make the explorer sick, injured and more... And die as well!
Extra supplies from expeditions can be gained by luck, or extra crafting materials by:
1) Handbook ~ Get extra Chemicals
2) Shovel ~ Get extra Minerals
3) Atomic Battery ~ Get extra Power

3.5) Tape ~ Extra precaution if you want no broken items
Upgrade Crafting Module and Expeditron X-100 to Level II to make your life easy but not hard as well.

One tip I've seen (although it takes forever to set up) is in the starting screen the timer doesn't start until you pick up all the listed items. In the meantime you are able to push every resource if not nearly every resource towards the hatch so you can just spam click them and get nearly every item.

I personally played it and it doesn't have as much layers or difference than Papers Please. What I mean by that is that, at least early game, you do more of the same, only adding maybe 1 or 2 things every now and then. While Papers Please added so much more every in game day.

I'd bet there's a trade-off in results though. If something is more likely to succeed it probably yields mundane results, while risky approach might be more rewarding and provide unexpected outcome.
Jack did note that about three quarters of the way through the video. He simply did not notice the tally marks until it was too late.
Andrewik Not quite, but different attributes will usually yield a different reward depending on the scenario. For example, there is one scenario where you can open a box with agility for one reward or use intelligence to break the box down for a different reward.
(I believe, anyway. It is entirely possible the reward is randomized, but what I wrote above would make sense given the wording of some of the scenarios.)
Stefan M. While he was still in space they passed an asteroid, the options were to use Strength to harvest the minerals, or Intelligence to harvest power. Some of them are more obvious, some are less so.

A little tip, the options when you first started (agility, strength, and intelligence) all have little tallies next to them. The one with the most tallies should always be the one that you go for because it means how specialized you are in that category (how you had three tallies next to agility rather than the ones next to the other options). Happy playing!

It can also help with the killer robot penguins
It can help you get an ending on some sort of planet that I can't remember the name of.
