I love O'Hara being a pro and saying yes so it lands and picking the right time to say no. Even the final two lines of these masters wrapping it up with, "you brought it up", "sorry, I did." Obviously she didn't REALLY, but I love that she said she did. BOOM. Two old Canadian improvisational besties who were categorically the best.

No one helped him deal with the comments by snobbish movie reviewers. One comment about "the funny fat guy" tormented him always.I would have pointed out that he didn't do his work for snobby elites. He did it for the every man...all of whom LOVED him. I was just a girl when he came on the scene, but to me his appearance in a scene was like my favorite crazy uncle or aunt arriving for a visit. Everything was going to be great from then on 😂. He did a lot of damage to his young body self medicating with food and alcohol to ease that pain. If only someone had explained to him that he was like beloved family to his fans, he might still be here. There aren't many other actors people have felt that way about. To me he was like a favorite uncle and to Dad, he was a favorite brother... someone to get into trouble with at family get togethers .

@@dgeneeknapp3168 Thanks for the touching reply to my post. The funny fat guy will always be in my heart but he's not a fat guy to me he is a glimmer of hope. It's a different world now than when he was here. A world with lots of disrespect and a lack of compassion but when I see your post D'Genee somewhere there is hope. "It's not so much the heat, it's the humidity that 'll kill you" (Cool Runnings) or "Aaah geez if you have to get to Chicago, we'll gladly drive you it's on the way to Milwaukee" -John Candy- Merry Christmas.

It's the subtle things with Candy that are always genius. When she asks if he has ever gone on vacation and left his child home alone...he really lets it sit there for a few long seconds to think if he ever did...because he just may have and possibly forgotten he did that. So he thinks hard for a few seconds and then feels confident enough to say "no" lololol I mean knowing this was all improv for Candy...that is the stuff that just makes it gold!

John Candy shared all of his screentime with Catherine O'Hara. The two previously worked together on SCTV (1976), and were good friends. Candy died on O'Hara's 40th birthday, and O'Hara gave a tearful eulogy at his funeral.

Nash Shaffer, yes you could always tell when Harvey Korman was getting ready to lose it working with Tim Conway...oh, especially if Tim was playing the extremely old, white haired man. Carol could take a lot and was another culprit causing busting up in the scene. I understand she is the only one who ever cracked up one of the queen's guards in London...she was doing a full on Eunice from Momma's Family. I don't know how ANYONE worked on that show. My mom and one of her friends left me and another one the kids in the group at the grocery store. That's what happens when 3 mons with like 9 kids go to the store in a giant 1960s station wagon with a crew of kids all within about 2 years of age of each other and having reddish hair and fair skin. We all had short hair because little red heads just don't grow hair very well as little kids. It took several countings of the mass of moving little people in the back areas of the car to realize SOMEONE is missing. What's bad is MY MOM had exactly ONE and didn't realize I wasn't in the car leaving. 😂. It looked like a kid got xeroxed like 8 times, when we were together as a group 😂.
