  • The Ultra Joe is a new super fun small wave performance shape which has been designed from the ultra popular Average Joe!
    We were able to check out the Ultra Joe in a whole range of conditions, and I've been lucky enough to surf the board quite a bit overt he last 3-4 months.
    The Ultra Joe is at home in small, and very average waves, but doesn't struggle too much when the waves get a little bigger and a little better up to around 3-4 foot (overhead)
    From www.cisurfboards.com/board/ultra-joe
    A few years back, we built the Average Joe to be a fun, simple, easy-to-ride board and it became one of our top sellers. For 2019, after rounds of customer feedback and team testing, we’ve created a souped-up, sleeker version…the Ultra Joe.
    The Ultra Joe boasts foiled rails, a double-bump squash tail, narrower nose with an updated rocker profile, and additional exit rocker. The result is a progressive step forward for beginner/intermediate surfers while at the same time is an inviting step down for average to good surfers seeking something fun and cruisy on the smaller, weaker days.
    Despite all these changes, one thing remains the same: the fun factor.
    In the Ultra Joe I rode a few different fin setups, but primarily the AM2 by Futures Fins -
    The AM2 Honeycomb, designed by Al Merrick of Channel Island Surfboards, is a large size Balanced fin with a Ride Number of 4.6. Featuring a neutral flex pattern this fin is a more versatile option for bigger surfers. The AM2 Honeycomb fin is designed to perform in a variety of conditions and features a smaller center fin for increased maneuverability.

    Where does the most volume sit in this board? Is it under the chest ? Does this make it harder to duck dive if that’s the case or does the volume spread evenly throughout the board / into the tail. Thanks 🙏

    Hi Craig. Look i´ve spent some years surfing but i had to quick because i moved to a city that was away off the beaches. Now Im considering to return to water. My last time on water was 3 years ago. My old board was a 6´4" - 19 1/2 - 2 3/8 - 33 liters ... i was an intermediate level surfer. Im going to buy the ultra joe, do you think a 5’11 x 21 x 2 5/8 - 37.2 liters is too small for me ??? im 5,9 feet tall and i weigh 160 pounds. THANKS SO MUCH. GREAT REVIEW.

      Hey! Do you have a chance to pick one up and put it under your arm? The best way to gauge the size!

    • @SlickWillie
      @SlickWillie 5 лет назад +2

      hey gaston for reference i am 5'11'' and weigh 205 lbs. i just picked up the 5'11 ultra joe. the board floats me very well and is super easy to paddle even for a big guy like me. you may want to get a size smaller. i picked this size up because my pyzel astro pop is 35 liters.. and i need a little bit of push on a wave to get that going. the outline of this board promotes stability and float!

    Do you prefer in terms of speed and manouvability the Ultra Joe or the Hippy Fling?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  4 года назад +1

      Hippy Fling - i think it just held foam in better places making it a little faster and easier to surf.

    Hi Craig, How do you rate the Ultra Joe against the Chum Lee?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 лет назад +2

      The Chumlee was fun, but that big tail limits the board a little bit... The Ultra Joe pulls in nice and tight and let;s you surf a little more freely.

    great vid! how does it stack up against the rocket wide? Or rather why would i want one over the other?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 лет назад +2

      Yuvan-Théo Dumas hey! Ultra Joe for really small waves, and then the Rocket Wide would sit above it as a groveler for slightly larger waves. The Rocket Wide is great, but doesn’t grovel like this! 👍

    So I’m 6”3 and like 235lbs and used to surf for years and years and I’m past being a beginner it’s just been about five years since I’ve surfed. I wanted a Florida board that I can surf without having to pull out a longboard. I want something that’s not bulky I can whip around on this fall. What length and how many liters do y’all recommend for a big guy like myself who is pretty light on my feet from surfing and skating most my life??

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 лет назад

      Hey! Sizing is such an individual thing that its hard to tell someone what size they should ride. I'd say going off literage, add 2-3 litres above your shortboard volume with this board so you get maximum enjoyment! You don't want to go too big, as it will be too bulky and will feel like a mal!
      Do you have a chance to pick one up under your arm?

    How does it compare to your favorites of the Cab Sav and Cab Sav 2?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  5 лет назад +1

      It's similar to the Cab Sav 2, but the tail pulls in neater so you can get it a bit more critical and vertical etc... lots of fun!
