I finally assembled it on the stand. It took so much effort. Two people and we couldn't make it match, we had to lay the saw body on the ground and attach the base to it and then pull it up, it was the only way to make it match the holes. What a job
@@BudgetPhil on top of that, the pulley on the gearbox was so tight that I had to pry it out... I already have put so much time in this saw today, I will have to tune/align it another day. Slow process, but I'd rather do it right. Your videos help so much, the instruction manual that came with the saw is worthless...
Good video. I used to have one 15 plus years ago. I'm getting one soon also. Cant see buying a wen or jet. They all look the same just different branding. Thanks man.
Had this problem in several HF instructions; when they call for a (for example) M6x12 bolt, I wish they would have a lifesize drawing of one so you can figure out which of the dozen bolts all thrown in the bag at once is an M6x12.

Thanks for a really interesting video. I've got a saw like this, likely a little bit newer version, but it has the same weaknesses. Look at the table You mount at the time 15:10. Why that large rectangular hole next to the blade? Cutting small pieces is dangerous as the support around the blade is nothing. I intend to add a 5 mm thick aluminium plate to the table, attaching it with some M3 - M4 screws. That plate will only have a cut allowing the blade to pass, nothing more. What do You think?
8:12 These feet are in the box but are completely ghosted in the instructions (other than the parts view); apparently they are supposed to magically appear in position somehow. Additionally it says to put the saw base INSIDE the legs when the legs clearly have to fit inside the saw base. Thats why I came here, wanted a sanity check.
I owned one of these saws 30 years ago I used it all day every day for 10 years I just bumped into the guy I sold it to for £50 he tells me apart from a new switch it is still going strong not bad for a £200 machine
After it's assembled, I believe it's about 36 inches long, 16 inches wide, and around 37 inches tall. The height of the table was about 2 ft. That ended up being too low for me so in part 7 of my budget bandsaw series I built a new stand which raised the table height to 31 inches.

I know what you mean. The factory stand was tricky for me to work with also. Very unstable without the bolts inserted.

I agree. Many of the higher quality band saws I've seen have an aluminum plate on the table.

I've noticed the instructions for cheap tools tend to be lacking, or just wrong sometimes. Can be pretty frustrating.

I suppose it's not necessary but I did it so I wouldn't accidentally lose it.
