This is so 80s I went back to my mother's womb.
I've been a guitarist for over 30 years. Never was too interested in bass. Now I am. What a talent.
My girlfriend and I watched this when it aired as a virtual concert for a date night. She made a sushi bake and we got a little dressed up. A night very well spent. Thank you Donnie.
It was my wife's birthday the day it first aired. We too made a night of it and it was amazing!

After listening to his hits, I was immediately hooked. Nobody dares to venture back to the 80s or disco era type music anymore, so it was a pleasant surprise

Dude is an incredible funk bass player and lead singer - a rare combo because it’s so challenging
Gotta say his singing is pretty weak live. Props for being honest live, ergo no playback and no ton of technique on his voice, but vocalwise he really is a studio person. Instrumentalwise he and the band did a solid job!
@@eadghe Actually several hours with a good singing teacher might help him quite a lot. But his bass playing is really good!
@@Bassdriver Yes, there is always a chance for improvement and I think Donny wouldn't struggle, since he works in that field and has the spirit.
@@eadghe and one more thing I have to add after watching the entire show - he REALLY needs to work on his intonation when playing a fretless, at least in high registers. A lined fingerboard might help too ;-)

He was randomly recommended to me on RUclips - Konichiwa - in December and I'm hooked man. Girl of my Dreams is such a good wee tune. Bought Mr Experience on vinyl and haven't had it off the platter. I'm a heavy metal guy as well.
Donny turned my night around and had his way with it!!
Hotter than eating spicy tacos in the sauna with wine on tap while outside the hottest day of the year, at high noon with a smoldering large red sun casting it's sneaker melting rays down into the shimmering waters, where dolphins splash happily off the beach. Benet sums up my life philosophy in this age of troubled minds.

that's never really been his style tbh, most of his studio recordings have the vocals on the dry side too. also you don't really tend to use stereo fx live so much on vocals

It’s been almost 2 years since I found out Donny’s music.
Now it reminds me of the times of my previous and precious idle and peaceful life here in Ukraine. Was supposed to visit his concert last summer in Europe but it is what it is. Hope to see you one day, mr. experience

You know, the very first time I saw one of his videos, I knew that he must be the bass player because the bass lines were so sick. The whole thing tis just a showcase for his bass playing!

I've been on this planet for nearing 40 years and, to this day, I've never understood it when people have said that it's the bass player that gets all the chicks. (I've always felt like it should probably be the lead guitarist, if anything.) While enjoying this fine performance -- somewhere around the mid-point of Second Dinner to be specific -- something clicked with me, and I feel like I finally understand. Thank you, Donny Benét! (For this and other things.)
P.S. This comment is honestly not intended to be ironically humorous (and shame on you if you thought otherwise!); this is my sincere account of some kind of legitimate enlightenment that I believe I just experienced.
