What the video does not mention, because I think they were not aware of it at the time, is that Eric was going to be able to leave China and not be put in the camp. But he chose to give up his right to leave China and be free. Instead he asked if a pregnant Chinese woman, who they were going to put in the prison camp, could be set free and that he would take her spot in the prison camp instead. As the video shares, he wound up dying in the camp. I cried for awhile when I heard this. A great example, of many in his life, of seeing Christ's sacrificial life through him. I pray, starting with myself, that more Christians would allow the Lord to live His life through them on a continual basis. If we, those who are Christians, do this - you would see a much different looking world today - obviously we would not see a perfect world at the present time, but a much different looking one. Looking forward to seeing Eric in the future as we, along with all the other believers, will worship and love the Lord together in heaven for all eternity.

Moved me to tears. To see a humble servant of the Lord who allowed the Lord to live His life through him to touch the lives of others for eternity as God had used his life to bring many to Christ. Even the trickle down effect of this is still being seen today as all the lives God touched through him are still touching the lives of others today for God's glory

Actually he was a great runner. No imaginary friends had anything to do with it.

@@dfadden62 Whether you believe in God or not, Eric Liddell ran to glorify God, and many who knew him say he was the kindest, most Christ-like person they ever met. I say this as a Muslim. Eric Liddell is a hero to many, including myself -- not for winning Olympic gold, but because of his tremendous character, integrity, humility, conviction, and devotion to his God and to serving others. . .particularly the most downtrodden and oppressed in society. He literally gave up everything to be of service to others, and he died in the process.

Eric’s message was simple…. “Be good. Do good.” 🌺🌺🌺 What an inspiration. What a BIG life he lived. 🌺🌺🌺 RIP At Peace. 🥇🥇🥇

IT SEEMS LIKE JUST YESTERDAY WHEN THIS MOVIE CAME TO ENGLAND WHERE I WAS LIVING IN A FORREST AND HELPING A RELIGIOUS GROUP THERE, RUNNING 8 MILES DAILY. THIS MOVIE SPOKE TO ME AS NO MOVIE EVER HAS. ABOUT GOD, COUNTRY, OLYMPICS, FRATERNAL SOLIDARITY. IT ALSO SPOKE TO ANTISEMITISM BY ELITE HIERARCHIES TOWARD A STUDENT. THE MOVIE TOOK PLACE DECADES EARLIER. SO THIS MOVIE INSPIRES ME IN PRESENT TIME AND REMINDS ME OF EARLIER TIMES IN WHICH INSPIRATION SPREAD OVER THE PEOPLE AS HUMANITY.

Mary, I listened through it twice. And I am very impressed with Eric Liddel's life. Because of Christ he was who he was. In your story you never mention Jesus Christ once. His memorial stone in China has a Cross on it. Christ said if you deny Me before men, I will deny you before the Father. Matthew 10:33. Paul repeats this in 2 Timothy 2:12. Curious as to whether this was a deliberate act of the network, or just a mistake on your part?

The LORD used this film to His Glory as I was saved and BORN AGAIN by HIS grace alone 3 years after. Today's world (2021) with all going on is 'good news' for all Christians. Jesus said that all things must occur prior to HIM coming back to set things aright. HE is at the door for all unsaved to be BORN AGAIN. We Christians will carry on enduring hardship as all brave soldiers of the Cross mustered into the armies of THE LIVING GOD THE FATHER. And then we will be HOME. (JOhn 3.3, 33-34).
