  • Located on the outskirts of the city is a natural wetlands park. This is a wonderful place to do easy hiking trails, ride your bike, bird watch, and take in the scenery. The great thing is this place is it is also totally free to visit. There was a recent wildfire here and I show you some of the damaged areas of the park as well. If you want a nearby place to go off into nature for a little bit this is the place for you.

    Thanks for the video. I live in Vegas and your channel inspired me to start hiking about 8 months ago. I am a disabled veteran and this new hobby helped me lose 55 lbs. I now have a better quality of life. Keep them coming so I can know where to hike next! LOL

      This has to be the most wonderful comment I have ever gotten on a RUclips video! I am so glad I was able to help get you into hiking. I remember 8 years ago when I first seriously started getting into hiking, it made me appreciate living in Las Vegas a lot more. Hiking and being out in nature does wonderful things for your mind and body and I'm so glad you discover that . Congratulations on losing 55 pounds. That's really quite an accomplishment! It is getting too hot now and they do have a lot of spots closed because of the virus so I am limited on where I can go hike and film. Mount Charleston is still a good option for me and I just have to get up early in the morning to beat the crowds. I really really appreciate your comments because it's going to push myself to hike more myself and pump out more videos to hopefully inspire more people. Thanks my friend, keep up the great work and stay safe.

      Adventuring Outdoors With Eric That is so true. I started appreciating Vegas once I started hiking. I download the AllTrails app to find places to hike. Haven’t been to Mt Charleston yet, but it’s now on my list since you mentioned it. My wife actually bought me a GoPro last week so I can film. Thanks for the encouragement bro.

    I was thinking you were far out in the desert somewhere until you said you were still in Las Vegas. Pretty nice little park with a river running through it. to bad about the fire, but at least they are doing something about it quickly. Nice little getaway.

      Yeah I was thankful that this park was still open and not crowded. Yeah only a half hour drive from my house. I live on the West side and this park is on the East side of town. Thanks for watching Lance!

      Yeah it's really a nice place to visit and not far from home. Yeah we actually get a pretty decent amount of rain from time to time. The funny thing is during the hottest times of the year July and August we have monsoon season. I really appreciate you checking out this video and stay safe.

    excellent video, being from the east coast you always think of the surrounding area in Las Vegas as being a desert and here you have wet lands, a very beautiful park

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  4 года назад +1

      Yeah most of the Las Vegas area is definitely desert, but I know of 3 different places including this one that have wetlands. These ones are the most vast and lush by far though. Literally what you would call an Oasis in desert. Thanks Craig and it's really nice to hear from you my friend. Hope you are staying safe.

    An oasis in the desert! Fires can cause a lot of problems, but they can also help. Let's hope the area benefits from this! I don't think the bridge would agree however.

    if you haven’t id recommend going a day after it floods theres a lot of fish and crayfish or something like that that get brought up into like tide pools but be careful going at night if you decide to ive seen a lot of homeless

      Forget the homeless my daughter took me and my wife there right before dark and it turned dark out there and there were tons of spiders on the ground and in the bushes she said they were black widows I am very arachniphobic love the place I’ll go during the day but the night time no thank you .she said she saw a black widow that was the size of her hand out there so I’m sure the birds have plenty to eat .but a wonderful place to go to during the day.

    Hey friend. Is that area wheelchair accessible? My family wan5s to fo really bas but, they'd have to push me.I just wanna know of the trails are well made or,if there's spots for people like me that'd be easy. We just wanna see the ducks & stuff . we live here

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  3 года назад

      Yeah a lot of the trails there are definitely wheelchair-accessible because they're made of concrete. You actually can see a lot of the Wetlands and the birds.

    Went there at night two weeks ago my daughter took us we have never been me and my wife we didn’t see any drug dealers or homeless people I think the spiders ate them I saw at least 20 spiders on the ground as we hurried out of that place and my daughter said she saw a black widow the size of her hand so I’ll go there during the day it’s beautiful but nighttime probably not a good idea they tried to get me to walk through some bushes as it started to turn dark and I told them no and said I was leaving I am very spider phobic i’m sure the birds have plenty of food to eat there.

  • @orthopraxis235

    Videos can't show you the sewage smells that make up the water here. Why is the water so murky? Why is there strange foam on it? Well, it's because 99% of the water here is partially treated water right from the sewer plants in las vegas. They hope it will clean itself as this shit water passes over the wash. But it smells like shit. They made it into a kind of park, but they cannot hide the smell.
