- This year the monsoon season has been much longer and more sever than normal. In many places the waters are reaching the point of flooding and Phuket is one of the effected areas. Due to the heavy and constant rain the canals finally reached the point where they couldn’t handle anymore water. Right near the old clock tower the canal overflowed the banks and flooded the old town area. Many of the neighborhoods were completely underwater and the locals are doing what they can to restore a semblance of normalcy to their lives. I walk around the old town so you can see what it looks like 24 hours after the flood.

Yesterday I filmed Old Town while it was under water. I saw on the news that power was restored and I wanted to see the extent of the damages so I went back to the area. If you want to see what it was like during the flood here is the link to the video I made.

Very nice town enjoyed the video
It looks much better during a sunny day. They also do a night market every Sunday night. That was why we went to Phuket from Khao Lak. The rain ruined my plan. I did visit here about 5 months ago and filmed the area when it was nice weather. Here is the video if you want to see it.

Hi there how is the whether in phuket at the moment?
I’m not sure. I left about 5 days ago. The forecast says no rain today but chance of rain the rest of the week.
I am traveling to Phuket old town this Friday. Can I check no flooding now?
You should be ok on Friday. The flood waters were down when I was back a day later as you could see. I think all of the businesses should be open also. I hope for you that the rain will stop so you can enjoy the old town. It’s such a great place.
Thanks for the quick response !
Hello I'm traveling to phuket on coming Saturday evening is the situation under control near patong beach and near area?
You should be fine. The low areas had a problem with flooding but the waters have went down. It could have a major storm again but I doubt it.
