Eugene:You're certainly in gr8 hands with your '69 Dodge Charger 500 at Nick's garage. Your car is undergoing a restoration second to none. I'm very sure you're looking forward to seeing it completed and on the road again. I can only imagine what the cost will be. In regards to cost, you have one good advantage in that you're paying with $US converted into $CAD funds. It's a heck of a lot cheaper this way. If it were the other way around it would be a lot more expensive. Happy new year and happy motoring when you get the car back 😀🇺🇸💯👍.
I used to work at an assembly plant. We ran 55 cars an hour. That's a little over a minute to complete your job. A little over a minute to install a headliner. When you do the same thing every day, 55 times an hour, you get real good at it. Great show as always Nick.
@@richvandervoort2950........Good Point. The 500 was sent to Creative Industries for the Back Glass and front grille conversion. How long did it take them for the headliner ?
Still a ways to go, but it's slowly coming together, and all the assembly is adding up. Another week, more will have been done, then another month, the 500 will be getting much closer to being complete and then all the final pieces will be assembled and ready to roll down the street for a shakedown cruise and any final touches. A labor of love for sure
Thank Eugene for serving. Both my Uncles served in Vietnam, an Uncle in the Air Force that did something with radar deployment and I had an Uncle, now passed away who served on a Hospital Ship the USS Sanctuary. Can't wait for the test drive of this car.
When I had my 1963 Grand Prix's Interior redone. I spent time and searching to find the pieces and then I went to the Upholstery shop in town. The Place was around before I was born.. The owner Said that My car would be his last Job. It took him a couple of weeks but the Insides looked brand new.. This included him rebuilding my Door covers from scratch and from the Ones I had found and provided.. The first car show in town he showed up and was happy to see his final job actually being shown for all to see.
There's a lot of old cars out there built by enthusiastic backyard mechanics, but there's nothing like a well-built car assembled by skilled tradesmen (getting rare). I feel fortunate to have found a car built by a talented mechanic which was his own personal ride for many years. These old gems are becoming priceless. Was a great era to be alive :)
Nick is so right about headliners. Ivan is a master! The two and a half day nightmare of my 63 Belvedere wagon was so different from the cardboard and foam of a 79 Firebird. Eugene was wise to choose Nick's team of true craftsman.
Was fortunate to meet Ivan a month ago with my friend François at his upholstery shop, he's a down to earth guy and won't settle for less than perfection... I was blown away when he showed us his special parts that he made himself for his 62 Lincoln 4 doors convertible... those part are not available repro but he made them exactly like the original.... 2 thumbs to Ivan .... 👍👍
Hardest job I ever did put a used headliner in another car..I couldn't find one. 12 hours later it came out .steam pull tug pull tug nightmare. I appreciate his effort.
The last time this kind of work happened to this car,it was 1968 Hamtramck, Detroit and those guys just wanted to get out of the factory and go home, non of them ever said to themselves “this car is special and will live forever” but now Eugene and Nick they know what they have saved, this treasure will roll into perpetuity.
Wow, that headliner came out looking better than factory! It looks completely flawless, no wrinkles, no sagging, just perfect! Eugene is going to be so happy if everything comes out as good as this headliner did. Ivan clearly knows what he is doing. Man, this car is going to look so awesome when it is all said and done. What a work of art Mr. Nick, Thank you for sharing the entire process with all of us! Fred
It's a Charger 500 a true 69'er Nick and the team are installing the headliner There's a list of jobs as long as your arm Each one requires the experience and skill of a craftsman who will do no harm So This badboy will retain all its original charm Ivan is the interior master He and Robert are taking it serious they've no time for laughter Eugenes Charger is in the right hands It's so cool to see the culmination of Nick's and Eugenes plans Nick's Garage has the passion and the skill and they're gonna make sure to do it right so Eugene can chill
Morning gents, this is my favorite project on the tube right now. The attention to detail is amazing! Interesting to see the alterations made to the 500 versus my 70. I'm currently taking mine back to its original a4 silver, and I appreciate the hours put into this gem.
I am loving the music that is being used with the videos. The peaceful music being played while seeing the headliner go in is very soothing. Most enjoyable and entertaining. Keep up the awesome video and music editing.
good morning Nick and team cars shaping up, your right putting a ceiling in is good job for somebody else lol have a great week grandson said he wants want one of those cars
So doing it correctly, the heat gun and many clips are two secrets to a super job, That's going to be a Brand new 1969 Charger 500 a full bare metal restoration I'd say better than new. 👍🇺🇸
That 500 looks better everytime I see it and now looks even better thanks to Ivan & Robert installing the headliner, great job guy's. Morning Nick & George, I see Eugene down in the comments is ready for more 'Y2 yellow' still looks the part and that colour just pops under the shop lights so imagine how nicely its going to pop in the sun with all that bright work, cant wait Eugene still I guess mot to far now bro. Stay safe & well all at this time.
Good moring Nick and crew. The Car is coming along slowly but surely. Watching from ( North York ) Toronto, Ontario Canada. For those who are watching " Enjoy your day wherever you are "...Peace.
From the Space Coast of Florida: Love it sir! Just me again as a young Dodge salesman in 1969 that drove a XX29 (order code) as a demo for a year. Thanks for the post!
Great video. I love watching this process of restoration because It helps me and my dad who are currently restoring a 69 Charger SE together with a few friends. Amazing work.
When he was building his Challenger you could hear the passion in Nick's voice...that same passion is there with this restoration. Eugene, your car is definitely in the best hands possible to bring it back to it's original glory.
No better way to start Monday off than with my 2nd cup of coffee while watching another excellent Nick's Garage video. Eugene's '69 Dodge Charger 500 looks great with the new headliner installed and when finished by Nick and his crew will be a real showstopper and one sharp looking Mopar too!
Geez Nick you look cold, here in Sarasota on Monday January 3 it’s 65 degrees with a 10 mile an hour wind. Can you please send me some Long Johns. Lol!!!!
I did the headliner in that boat to the left. Everyone told me to hire someone but NOOOO, I can handle it I said. LOL, Never again! That headliner looks great and it takes an expert to do it right. That's going to be a sweet looking and running car.
Ivan & Robert you are meister craftman of your profession. And Nick you have pulled together a team for this car 2nd to none. And Eugene you have to be proud of that.
Love the work guys. This will probably the best charger 500 ever restored. A true story of passion from the owner and the guys at nicks garage. Nick, you should be so proud to have been given this opportunity and sven more proud of how it's turning out.
Beautiful job. Foolishly I tore down my headliner in my 70 1/2 Z28 in 1981. What a job especially not knowing each bow had specific location. My wife sewed a headliner from taking apart the old one stitch by stitch and making a pattern back in the late 90's for my 440 powered 67 Dart 270.
Wow Nick you certainly picked the right guy for that head liner, Cheers to Ivan, that is a work of art in itself. You never see them that taunt, and with the slope of the rear window and the huge sail panel, that is just a beauty. It`s nice to be Eugene right now.
Great episode!!! Awesome results from a full day of work... It looks beautiful!!! Better than the original factory work, and this is the type of thing that inspires others to get their machines back on the road!!!
Just going to be one of your most expensive rotisserie restorations you've ever done? This is almost past frame off this is like concours Every attention to detail is just fantastic on this build and what a team you got together
Good Morning Nick and Krew ! Ivan and his friend are artist , doing that type of work is an lost art and skill . Not many around to do that high level quality any more . It looks so very nice . " The Yellow Time Machine " is coming along .....
This is my favorite part of this show. The restoration!! It’s just awesomely entertaining interesting educational motivating. Really awesome show and really good job guys.
Sometime back, Nick, you performed some major engine rebuild work on a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T. Mopar built the 1969 Charger 500 using the front grill of the 1968 Coronet R/T. I'd love to see those two cars side by side.
As someone who has watched several upholstery restorations, it's interesting to be able to follow his work and know what he's doing. For some strange reason I do tend to follow upholstery really well, even though I haven't really had to work on it before. As always, there's no good teacher like personal experience. It's definitely looking great.
Look so forward to Monday mornings and another show. Talk about a craftsman! Ivan did a top notch job,I can just imagine the thought process and determination to do it right the first time. As usual a fantastic show. Thanks all at Nick's garage.
Good Morning Nick and George, It's Monday and I'm ready for some more Y2 yellow, oh yeah.
Morning! So glad to have you with us for this one, as always. Enjoy!
The y2 yellow ain't many colours that are bolder I'd be getting out the way if I saw it approaching over my shoulder!
When you debut this car finished you should be getting more subs for sure
Good Morning Eugene in Texas, hope all is well with you.

What makes this build so special for the viewer is the story behind it, the owner and circumstances surrounding the car. Way to go Nick! 👍
Beautiful work. I bet the original factory headliner never looked that good!!!
That Headliner looks like a "Million Bucks"! (Or should I say... a Million Loonies?) 😁
One more piece and another step closer to Charger 500 perfection.
I am glued on this build
Thanks, B. We appreciate that.

It is a miracle how this was done at the factory back then. Thank you on this comment.
Was the 500 solely built on the production line or was the back window mods and grille done off the line?

Thanks for sharing a great memory.
Installing headliners is a special skill. That's why, back in the day, I saw lots of hot rods with sagging, or missing headliners.
No it isn't. It's people thinking it does and assuming they can't do it and so they don't. That's the only reason why.

Good morning Nick from Arkansas
He's going to be in awe when he sees his car in person again. Looking gorgeous 👌
Thanks James.

This is how a master works on a special car, fantastic. Have a great week everyone
Upholstery isn't just an art - it's a Dark Art, and takes a special kind of crazy to do well. :)
Wow, Ivan and Robert are true automotive craftsmen. The Charger 500 is looking exceptional Nick.

Great vid George ! Ivan does spectacular work !!
Great job Ivan and Robert!! Guys like this rarely ever get the recognition they deserve. True craftsmen.
Nice Work!
The yellow has settled down nicely. It looks a lot more subtle now. Really suits the car. Looking forward to seeing it running.

There is just no comparison to a bow style headliner to those one piece cardboard with foam sprayed on them. Looks AWESOME!
3 great craftsmen. Gotta love it.
I can see one of the hardest parts of the head liner is having to work so much over head . I am sure my arms would be ready to fall off. Great job.
