There is drone support for other stuff these days but I don't know if this is even planned to be available for a traffic scenario. And of course in an extreme high speed pursuit like this, your average DJI copter would not do. It would have to be a heavier fixed wing craft to follow such a madman racer. That comes as 158km/h!
Because I didn't see it mentioned in the comments yet: this is actually in Helsinki Metropolitan area, the chase reaching Helsinki and Espoo - and I think we even poked a bit on Vantaa, but I don't remember exactly where the border is. It was actually a very exciting tour of many locations where I have lived and worked at throughout the years. xD Also, the vans weren't trying to stop the motorist in the crossroads, they were holding back traffic to minimize the risk to bystanders. Also, Finnish traffic police quite often use plain white vans, so those were also backing up the motor cop. Also also, at the end the officers are talking: "He probably got rid of something, we'll likely get some dogs sniffing around."
The cop could have catch him many times but how could you stop him alone. He is basically just keeping up with him and telling other police where he is. He is probably the one to do this if he is on shift because he is that good.
The fugitives had no chance of getting away with two police motorcycles on them. At the end, the arresting police officers order "hands up, on the ground, did you throw something away, bring a police dog to the scene".
In Finland the police will chase you until you give up. They are not supposed to hunt that crazy if they have the plate number, because It's so dangerous. But who gives a fuck. Motorcycles and moped love the hunt and cops hate it. Finnish motorcycle police train with duty bike on dirt tracks and dirt bike tracks, they are trained to handel their bike on any road or off-road (any time of year, any time of day and any kind of surface)
The motorcycle police in Finland are a different breed. Each one of them are race driver tier skilled. You could almost say they live for this ish. It is super illegal and dangerous to do this in traffic, but if you enjoy riding fast, it's also very, very exciting. As a motocop, that is the one position and profession, where you don't only _get a permission_ to do this daredevil stuff without getting in trouble, but you actually -have to_ because _that's the literal job description_ - to catch the criminals on bikes, that the cop cars aren't able to keep up with when they flee.
most of them are younglies with mopeds and stupid enough to drive public roads, whenever they run out of gas or just pure boringness they stop... some of them drives quickly into forest trails and escapes easily from heavy road motorcycle! however, if they got ur license plate (if u didnt hide it already before going to ride in town) they will find you.....
only if they dont get you... i mean, they mostly start chasing you BECAUSE you dont have plate... if you lose them thats good for you, sometimes they still find that bike if you try to hide it like in forest lol @@jonttu0776
@@MrBanaanipommi the new boosted Kawasaki H2 SX they use are frikin insane ...no chance on any normal bike to get away, they also have some "civil" supermotos that can handle most forest trails easily...and cause they are extremely well trained for it....yeah its safer and easier to just not run at that point :D
At the end they are waiting police dog to search if suspect threw something away. Police usually just wait that mistake what happened here too and after that things are a bit easier.
That was in fact in Helsinki to Espoo, escaping biker started it from the Helsinki, Lauttasaari and then rided to Espoo and finally got caught. He chose stupid routes all the way from Helsinki as police had sight of him always, straight roads are your enemy if you are escaping :D Also police in Finland usually won't even try to block roads fully as it's usually ends up someone hurt, they just ride along and wait your mistakes. That dude was high, carried drugs, if i remember right he had illegal gun at home too. They rided mc house bit later too after this whole situation. At the end they were talking about drugs and bringin dog to sniff out field :D
This is craaaazy... both are going so fast and I'm just imagining what if a pedestrian or person on bicycle let alone a car comes from the side... They'll be flying for hundred meters in the air or something geeeez...! Really rising the pulse
Funny coincidence. I just came home and had driven some of those same routes in the past hour, but I drove a car and followed the speed limits and other rules :)
To become a motorcycle police in Finland, you not only have to be a police already and have a motorcycle license, you also have to go through some pretty extensive specialized traingin at the police academy, including some extra training on how to drive and so on, so they are very highly trained, until recently, the region where i live only had one, now there are three cause two new ones recently went through the training
Jep, they must have own bike also, so experience to drive it. But I think, after becoming motorbike police, interest driving on freetime goes down littlebit, if you are on bike 8 hours a day, its enough, for most people. And training, base ofcourse, but every spring they have some trackdays, and maybe some of road sessions also, with their service bikes. In some past times they were in motocross track Erkylä in Hyvinkää, with older BMW bikes, and it was possibility to watch them in there, for us moped boys it was amacing thing how they could do it with streetbikes that heavy, I never after that tryed to flee from them. I see them every spingtime, when they are doing their roadtrips before summer, sometimes 25-30 passing my house, and love to watch them goin by.
I believe you have to serve certain years in police too before motorcycle is possible, so they are not that young and have some discretion when they serve with motorcycle.
There are 150 cops by motorcycles in Finland and only 3 of them are females, the training is though as hell. They have to push the 230 kilogram motorcycle with full police outfit and helmet on, for 460 meters in 3 minutes, or you fail to become a motorcycle police! Not a job for "berry pickers". ;)
There's always a public safety debate after a chase, but most people agree that if you start letting them go when they run, criminals will quickly learn that just by speeding as fast as you can you also get away with anything. Not a culture you want to grow.
Finnish MPs are most likely race riders (and have completed motorcycle messenger training in military) and they have Kawa H2s. You have no chance getting away from them with street bikes.
At the end after busted him Police said he has thrown something around. A dog will come to search something.. nice cop video. Yes, never try to get off from motocop. They are so talented bikers.
That's basically almost centre of Helsinki. They started at Lauttasaari island and drove to Ruoholahti. That's like 2km from the Central railway station which is dead center.
This whole video is pretty much a quick tour of Finland. First we get to see the western end of Helsinki, after that some nice typical country roads, then some not so nice typical suburbs and last but not least, a typical farm.

I think motorcycle polices only give pressure and stay on them. They do not catch up and certainly they do not shoot. Other patrols use spikes or other measures to block and stop. Even police cars don't usually bump cars/motorcycles unless it is extremely necessary for safety or otherwise it is safe to do so, they just stay on suspects and other patrols handle blocks/stopping. You can see other bikes and cars many times in the video, you just missed a lot of them :)
The chase starts on Länsiväylä, onto Katajaharjuntie In an island called Lauttasaari. Goes down and Katajaharjuntie, round some buildings then back up Luoteisväylä, onto lahnalahdentie, Then left onto lauttasaarentie, over the bridge to Ruoholahti....
This happened 21 of June 2017. I live in Espoon Keskus. They told it was worst about 250km per hour. Those narcs started from Lauttasaari, Helsinki, to Espoo. Driver had amphethamine and methamphetamine in vains. So gladly, people were went to celebrate Midsommar in their cottages. I saw that incident, when they drove to Tuomarila. It was like half second..whooaah. Thank You Espoo's Police. Those bikers are very super greatly trained, as you all saw. I would gave that police flowers, because we just walking about near with my 7 year old kid.
The first time you paused the video, the neighbouring building from me is on the right. And then when you say, "why is he slowing down?" it's a hard 90° left turn with a negative camber.
16:05 he drives by the place where he returns to leave his motorbike at the end. That following kilometer the road is so so narrow and you have to stay on the road or you fall straight to the woods (happens every now and then).
The 2 motorcycles behind the cruiser whom they chased was undercover zxr1400 and the other was Police Honda Silverwing or Yamaha Xmax. And they were ripping through residential areas 25 to 50 m/sec thats 80-180kph thats 50 to 110 imperials per hour or freedoms per hour depends are you old or new world. And the strategy to lose the police officer is to run in traffic see who makes mistake first or gives up. So the criminal is basically hoping that somebody gives the police a little nudge in accident or the police makes mistake. Longer this kind of hard riding goes on more tired you'll get and if you are hopped on with meth like the criminal here is he'll have the focus and energy for days just look up Aimo Kuusela and his Pervitin fueled adventures in winter war. And the Police officers strategy here is to just keep up keeping up pressure so runner would take bigger risk and end up making a mistake or he runs out of fuel. I mean riding that hard on MC that weights around 300kg with a passenger is going to use quite lot of fuel. And yes that police officer was so tired at the end that he dropped his bike by accident. I mean I have done track days and I know that riding hard 30 minutes is absolutely exhausting.
It annoys me when people think life is like a game. Like, say, Gand Teft Auto, and they don't realise that in real life there is no reset button or start over option, especially if you drive off the road and get seriously injured. It would be good if people learned to separate games from reality. And I have even less understanding or mercy for drunk drivers. I certainly hope that the moron who was speeding (and endadgerin his/hers companion and other people on the road) in that video got a substantial sentence and a big bill for his asshole behaviour on the road.
Greetings from Finland. Finnish police officers are way tougher guys than the one’s they are opposing but then again they are under very strickt juridistiction of law what comes to their use of force. In this case police cant ram or grab the criminal motorcyclist. Othervise they would be arrested. Best thing that they can do is to tailgate him and let sirens warn the bystanders and other traffic. I hate to say this but Finnish police are very poorly paid, considering what they have to do every day to keep us safe.
there is a reason that harleys are called hogs, they corner like a brick the officer is on a racing 2 stroke. but they have a HUGE acceleration bonus due to the size of the engine.
The Helsinki traffic can be pretty sparse in the middle of a summer day. This may even be July, the main summer vacation month. Stopping a motorcycle requires a multitude of police cars distributed through all lanes, or a bunch of spike strips. The spike strips are a last resort because having the tyres empty out on a motorcycle risks injuring the escapee. Letting one get away isn't the worst outcome, the person is sure get caught for his/her current crimes or something else in the future.
the speed might look very fast but in fact there is 2 factors that makes it so... first of is the FOV of the camera... then the "auto stability" on video.... i hate that second one... but yes... they go aprox about 150kmh at max in the vid...
Even legendary GhostRider would not dare to play here. These Finnish Policy Bikes and riders.. its really "game over" from the start if they spot you riding dirty. Cars are different story, you might be lucky and get away.. until they call 2-wheeled friends. No fun after that
Well hat off to the criminal, he drove with a passanger without making big mistakes. The finnish motorcycle cops are really good drivers on cross road terrain, they train a lot for that, so that should not have helped to lose the police.
Yeah you get fined % of ur yearly salary if you go over 15 km per hour in the speed limit. Hugest fine in Finland for speeding is about 192k euros in Finland. But that ride he got to shake the bars
Yes if it is more than 20kph over the posted limit then it goes to "days" .Which is your average income from last year when taxes are done. Average monthly income before taxes minus 255€ and divided by 60 is the amount of fine for one "day". Minimum is 6€ for one "day" if you have low or no income but minimum fine is anyway 200€ for speeding over 20kph. From 21 to 38 over limit, then 20 days is maximum fine and officer can change it 2-4 days from the chart depending on actual situation. More wiggle room is then if the person does not agree and the ticket goes to court. Usually from that the fines are few hundred euros, only if the income is crazy high the fines really go to headline levels.
4:54 rhere he went right past the court house - a former liquor factory. Sure that is in Helsinki. It is close to noon so there is not that much people. II can't get how he ran so far in 45 seconds.

Honestly I think that police is having fun while chasing, he has adrenaline pumping and he probably loves to go a bit above the speed limits. Wouldn't surprise me if he tuned his moped as young to get a bit more rush out of it. Yes there is the serious part also in his job but I think his personality is that he loves speed and corners(we are sort of a rally nation so there are many here that has died for their love to it).
Nah, as somebody who did only black slopes at the end of my downshill skiing hobby, I can see where this shit comes from. Never seen a chase like that here in Finland though. It's likely the traffic lights are being controlled ahead of the criminal lunatic. And they captured his number plate/his residence so they send police patrols to the registered address ahead of time.
The moment you said the streets are quiet they crossed the bridge to Ruoholahti that is next to Helsinki city centre. Also it looks like the bandit has a passanger :(
bike running off is way more heavy and difficult to handle than police bike, it is just for keeping contact., which makes it dangerous. after getting plate, leave it and go after that. cops order is keep behind and maintain contact.

I followed the route they took on google maps. Using land marks and shop names and signs along the way. Oddly satisfying to do that. Learned something new about myself too... I can follow a map with information from a video like this. Cool.
You could use the google to calculate average speed by taking some good part of the video.
@@JamesParus Very true. Unfortunately math is not something I'm personally good at.
That's cool man! So you just went to google street view to search for the starting place and so on? :) Wish you could like drive the route in google maps :) btw i live close there where that chase started from so it's extra interesting for me.

@@JamesParus when they were driving länsiväylä back to espoo @7:00 to 7:20 there were 2 bridges as nice landmarks! distance between them is 880 meters and they did it in 20seconds. little math tells us that they drove: 880/20=44.05 meters / second or to convert it to km/h we multiply it by 3.6. That comes as 158km/h!
Because I didn't see it mentioned in the comments yet: this is actually in Helsinki Metropolitan area, the chase reaching Helsinki and Espoo - and I think we even poked a bit on Vantaa, but I don't remember exactly where the border is. It was actually a very exciting tour of many locations where I have lived and worked at throughout the years. xD
Also, the vans weren't trying to stop the motorist in the crossroads, they were holding back traffic to minimize the risk to bystanders. Also, Finnish traffic police quite often use plain white vans, so those were also backing up the motor cop.
Also also, at the end the officers are talking: "He probably got rid of something, we'll likely get some dogs sniffing around."
No Vantaa.
In the nordics usually the police does not have the resources to deploy helicopters, helicopters are mostly used by healthcare
08:35 "This is insane!" No. This is Finland!
As a motocop, that is the one position and profession, where you don't only _get a permission_ to do this daredevil stuff without getting in trouble, but you actually -have to_ because _that's the literal job description_ - to catch the criminals on bikes, that the cop cars aren't able to keep up with when they flee.
yes, many people in Finland know that you don't want to run away from the police on a motorcycle, but many people don't believe it
most of them are younglies with mopeds and stupid enough to drive public roads, whenever they run out of gas or just pure boringness they stop... some of them drives quickly into forest trails and escapes easily from heavy road motorcycle! however, if they got ur license plate (if u didnt hide it already before going to ride in town) they will find you.....

At the end they are waiting police dog to search if suspect threw something away. Police usually just wait that mistake what happened here too and after that things are a bit easier.
They had closed the road at the point where he turned to the farm. They tried that already a few times before.
Don't mess with the Finnish motorcycle police. 😎👍
To become a motorcycle police in Finland, you not only have to be a police already and have a motorcycle license, you also have to go through some pretty extensive specialized traingin at the police academy, including some extra training on how to drive and so on, so they are very highly trained, until recently, the region where i live only had one, now there are three cause two new ones recently went through the training
lol i used to live near where they trained 'em, it was madness seeing 10-20 motorcycle police in the same location :D
6:00 from what it looks like is a finnish highway with a stardard speed limit of 100kmh or 62mph.
So the cars on the right lane are going about that.
The chased one had suzuki intruder 1800cc muscle bike. It has so much torque, that is why he got away in every acceleration.
Police in Finland get univercity level education! In US not!
That's basically almost centre of Helsinki. They started at Lauttasaari island and drove to Ruoholahti. That's like 2km from the Central railway station which is dead center.

Police bikes are quite fast. It can outrun a bike in picture easily but there is a passenger.

In Finland we use km not miles. For your question 😊
5:14 It is in fact Helsinki, but the streets are indeed unusually quiet. Probably weekend or holiday.
Friends was at work, not Weekend
The first time you paused the video, the neighbouring building from me is on the right. And then when you say, "why is he slowing down?" it's a hard 90° left turn with a negative camber.
It's Helsinki & Espoo. Looks like July, when all Finns are at their summer cottage and only those who have to, are still in the city.
at least 1 mc-police in Finland was competing in national road racing championship
16:05 he drives by the place where he returns to leave his motorbike at the end. That following kilometer the road is so so narrow and you have to stay on the road or you fall straight to the woods (happens every now and then).
The guy literally risked hundreds of lives pulling this stunt.
In Finland, our police officers have Kawasaki Ninja H2 motorcycles
The "country road" you mention is Espoonväylä.
Still epic chase🇸🇪
I suggest Ghostraider ( sweden)
It annoys me when people think life is like a game. Like, say, Gand Teft Auto, and they don't realise that in real life there is no reset button or start over option, especially if you drive off the road and get seriously injured. It would be good if people learned to separate games from reality.
And I have even less understanding or mercy for drunk drivers. I certainly hope that the moron who was speeding (and endadgerin his/hers companion and other people on the road) in that video got a substantial sentence and a big bill for his asshole behaviour on the road.
Must have been scary for that woman in the backseat.
Yes this is coming into Helsinki less than 1km at one point from the centre
Greetings from Finland. Finnish police officers are way tougher guys than the one’s they are opposing but then again they are under very strickt juridistiction of law what comes to their use of force. In this case police cant ram or grab the criminal motorcyclist. Othervise they would be arrested. Best thing that they can do is to tailgate him and let sirens warn the bystanders and other traffic.
I hate to say this but Finnish police are very poorly paid, considering what they have to do every day to keep us safe.
Allegedly the fugitive was known to the police before hand and after the chase he commented the police "you drove fucking well".
You didnt see that the guy who cops was chasing had a passenger :D
It went from Lauttasaari in Helsinki to Espoo.
That is in suburb of Helsinki. Top speed must be at least 180 km/h on highway.
At the end, hands up go down, NOW
That guy later went on to kill someone (not in traffic, but in some other way). He won't be riding a bike any time soon.
This is Helsinki. They are heading Eastwards to the neighboring city of Espoo...

there is a reason that harleys are called hogs, they corner like a brick the officer is on a racing 2 stroke. but they have a HUGE acceleration bonus due to the size of the engine.

Fun fact the motorcycles they have are actually top tier one of thefastest motorbikes in the world.
It must have been frustrating for that officer because there was not much he could do to stop that person.
Looks like they were driving in Lauttasaari, Helsinki?
Jeez/km/h. That's fast! 😅

And that just add more jail time for them. Idiots, you can't out run cops. You loose 99,5% in Finland for doing that.
Well hat off to the criminal, he drove with a passanger without making big mistakes. The finnish motorcycle cops are really good drivers on cross road terrain, they train a lot for that, so that should not have helped to lose the police.
21:07 This intersection is between Hösmärintie and Finnoontie
Yeah you get fined % of ur yearly salary if you go over 15 km per hour in the speed limit. Hugest fine in Finland for speeding is about 192k euros in Finland. But that ride he got to shake the bars
I have heard that Finnish speeding tickets is based on your annual salary.
It was in helsinki when you said its nit in helsinki but it could be that poeple are still in work and 6:08 the motor way goes to lauttasaari

Many of those cops are also race-riders on their free time....
