      I picked up a pair of the original T1's on the clearance sale for $500. I have a few or so pairs of speakers that I'm always swapping out, and the T1's are absolutely the most surprising value of them all! If I could have this same speaker in a pretty piano gloss cabinet for $1000, I'd buy it right now!

    • @mikeortiz2139

      I'm contemplating if a pair of T1+'s are going to be enough for a HT set up or if I should spend more for the T2+'s. My front stage is a 10' × 10' wall. I have two Klipsch R-12sw's. One front right. One rear left, because of my room situation. Anyways, with the entertainment stand centered the sub, the the T2+ I think it'll stick out of in the hallway which doesn't pass the wife test. So I'm torn between the T1+'s and T2+'s.

    According to Stereophile's measurements, these hit -6db at about 28hz and -10db at about 25-26hz, so they have some useful response down into the mid 20s, which is pretty impressive. I'm curious about how these stack up to the Prime Pinnacles. The ol' "order both and return one" auditioning method is a pain.

    • @JPWinters
      @JPWinters 3 года назад +1

      @@joepokro4824 I personally did not care for the voicing. They had a very pronounced & murderous upper midrange around 4khz that made 2-channel music uncomfortable. I thought they were better suited for home theater. The bass was voiced more towards mid & upper bass than low bass. There wasn't much depth at all unless you heavily EQ'd it. The highs were actually really nice. Smooth, detailed, balanced, not overly bright. The drivers & cabinet were good quality. For music, a tube amp would be best. I would not recommend for heavy metal or electronic type music. Better for mellow or vintage music. I used a Cambridge Audio 540R V3 to power them which is 100w per channel solid state. I have upgraded since then to a Yamaha S-A801. I spoke to Eric @ Tekton, and he said the Pendragons would be more smooth in the 4khz range. He also said the new Dragonfly would be a good match for me.

    I got the SVS prime towers over the Imotiva speakers Ron...
    Same price, struggled to get the Imotiva's in the UK...
    The deal breaker was the SVS's dig down to 30 hz, as apposed the Im's, 35 hz...
    Very similar speakers, the Im's have 8" bass drivers, as the SVS's have 6.5"
    I'm really happy with the SVS primes... Incredibly clear on my system!
    Running them through an "IOTA SA-3 and the IOTA PA-3 combination"
    Really good starter amps for around £700.00 uk... Producing 100 wpc! paired...

    I enjoy listening to your videos and have used LOTS. What I want to know is about the problems from sitting too close to speakers. I don't think there are many 2 channel audiophiles looking at Emotiva for speakers. They are known for their amps. The XPA Gen 3's are great for home theater and two channel music. Even reviewed by Stereophile. But I'm certainly glad somebody reviewed their speakers. Their prices are a great value. But Andrew Jones of ELAC has made this speaker pice range very competitive.

    Very nice video format/style. Concise, informative . I think these would be amazing for a 2 channel AV system, fireworks in the treble is a great when you don't have/want a center channel. Sometimes very hard to put a center channel .sound bar in a room with TV mounted on wall above a fireplace. This however can set either side of the fireplace and into the room a bit and look pretty decent, could always paint them to match decor ( I'd probably do an off-white).

    I have the Airmotiv T2's (not T2+) that I bought used. I am running a second gen Emotiva xpa-2 that i also bought used and I have a Denon AVR-X3500H that i'm using as a pre/pro.
    I noticed that you said that you found your T2+ to be easy to drive. My experience has been the polar opposite, the main reason I bought these is that I was wanting a punchier upper midbass than my old Paradigm Studio 40 V3's could deliver. I figured with four 8 inch drivers I coundnt go wrong, also since these are 4ohm speakers, so my XPA-2 should be able to deliver as much as 500 watts per speaker. Even with all that power I have these should rock the house - they dont. I mean they get loud, but they dont sound pleasing at all when loud. I ran the Audessy test many times and even futzed with the EQ setting a bit, nothing seemed to work. I know you cant troubleshoot my problems with this limited amount of info, but maybe someone can throw me a bone. Im starting to think that maybe the Denon and the XPA-2 arent matching up well ? Also I find the airmotivs fatiguing to listen to and i can never seem to get the treble "just right" . They do seem ok for home theatre but, at least with my setup ( which is probably the problem) , they dont seem that great for music.
    I really wanted to like these and I still havent given up on them, but is there something not too expensive i could buy ( covid has hit my wallet hard) to hook straight up to my amp and bypass the denon just to test if the amp could deliver more with a better matched pre pro? I assume an emotiva brand would be a good match but some of there processors gets mixed reviews. My older Paradigm Studio 40's Version 3 sounded much better except they couldn't deliver the punch I was looking for. Lets put it this way, I feel about as much upper bass effects from my brothers system and hes running two Polk T50's ($200 a pair) and two PSW10's. ..and its driven by a denon reciever that cant be putting out more than 75 watts per channel.
    If you have any suggestions or pointers i'd really appreciate it. Thanks for the video, there arent many of this model . I liked and subbed.

I would think over time the top end will smooth out quite a bit. That said from your review I wouldn't expect this speaker to ever sound as refined as say KEF's or Sonus Faber's. @@gtric1466 Well Klipsch has an interesting reason to not use it for their RP line, not completely sure why. That's probably because they have a dip in the 1 -2KHz range(crossover point for the RP-160m, 600m etc...) Many people like it because they sound really nice with metal/rock or just noisy music in general. But I completely understand, I do kind of miss the midrange from my MA bronze 1's. But sacrificing it for the horn-loaded tweeter was definitively worth it. The problem with Klipsch speakers is that they really rely on your DAC/Amplifier. They're(RP-160M) unusable with my dad's Pioneer LSX-VX51 receiver. Way to bright and just sound thin (they do dig down to 30 - 32 Hz in that room). But here in my bedroom with my Hegel HD11 32-bit DAC and NAD D3045 they sound aboslutely incredible. Did my best to get some acoustic treatment in so bought a few absorbers and bass traps. Paired with the SVS PB-1000. Have the NAD's hp filter set at 40Hz and the subwoofer's lp filter sadly only goes down to 50 Hz even though the sub hits 17 Hz... Which is a big problem because the RP-160M's goes down to about 40 Hz so I get a pretty ugly peak between 40 - 50 Hz...

      @@gtric1466 Planning to get a xls1502 to see if it can clean up the mids. The mids can get a bit muddy on bass heavy tracks for me. Dont get me wrong it a great speaker and the sound signature is really appealing, but after months of critical listening, the mids is the only flaw. Next speaker I buy must be a 3way.

    I’ve heard these and the original T2. They are highly refined Klipsch RF-7II’s; that’s how they sound. Replete with gaining over 14dB on-axis from 1.5k to 15k. YIKES. 😳 They are quite forward, but image well and don’t bite as often as you’d think. But they bite with anything but tube gear. It’s not ideal.
    They lean heavily on the low distortion of the tweeter, but the midrange gets kinda hard and dry at any moderate volume (is it going into breakup?). They are definitely not the speaker to beat under $1k. A solid option, but there are others as well. Sorry Ron. Love ya buddy.

      Rick G Agreed. There are better options that don’t require that kind of EQ.
      My only concern is that the massive midrange dip, which would require significant additive EQ, is also a point of too much stored energy. So you literally can’t fix that. That’s still a massive midrange dip even if you flatten the treble hump.
      Not horrible, but not ideal.

    • @dustind5176
      @dustind5176 3 года назад

      The speaker is not on a pedestal, 20-30ft off the ground so they have to use a gated measurement to record the frequency response inside a normal room. I believe he said 4.5ms, which is about 200hz. A longer recording/measuring time could allow measurements below 200hz, but then that sound wave would have enough time to leave the speaker driver and bounce off the floor into the mic, messing up the results.

      Ryan, I have a pair of the 590's in my album/ streaming room, and they are my personal favorites of any speakers that I've heard at anywhere near 1000 dollars. Are there better ones that I've heard? Yes, but, they were 6 times the cost. They are a steal at a grand. I listen to a ton of electric guitar based rock, progressive, jazz fusion, classic rock, funky horn bands, etc. Check out Zeos' review on them, and believe ever positive thing about them. I'm a life long musician, and I've listened to top end monitors, both nearfield, mid, and large soffit built in, and heard many hifi systems the cost of some homes, and the only thing that I could say may be a negative with the 590, is some may find the size prohibitive, and some may not appreciate the aesthetics. Greg Timbers designed them, and they are a no BS, great speaker. For a grand??? No brainer.
