What is he so mad at? He had a good life and the stock market crashed. After that everything was a sham. His family loses everything, and then he gets abandon at the racetrack finding himself having to fight to survive. This is probably one of my favorite scenes. My other favorite scene is when all the handlers are struggling with Seabiscuit while Red Pollard is fighting off guys that are taunting him. Red and Seabiscuit certainly understood each other.

I know the feeling. I've asked myself that a lot and I do my best to keep it in check as I hate losing my temper but I have only vague feelings about why.
I used to work in a home for abused and neglected kids years ago. It used to break my heart to see the pain in their anger. Because you know that is exactly what that anger is all about.

I can't believe it took me this long to realize--but now I'm pretty sure what he's so mad at is his dad. That's the reason he was about to chuck all his old books off the bridge. He has so many good memories of his family and that makes being left behind even more painful.
It's even scarier to realize how much his anger is like mine.
