    This track displays, if anything, the insane vocal skill and control Morten can employ…taking his voice to the edge and then pulling it back again. I’m a singer so I do know how difficult it is to use the voice in this way and make it as pliable as Morten can. The accompanying instrumentals seem completely zany and in keeping sonically…and to the backing vocals from Elisabeth Moberg as mentioned by you…sensational! I love this track too, maybe it’s not my favourite from the album, but it’s up near the top.

    Welp yep, I love it. Totally agree with his voice here, how many put it. I like that, "Edgy taking a chance Morten". ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥Yes, as Sofia said, "Soul". Graham said "Raw and Primal". Marjorie said "Taking his voice to the edge and pulling it back.". YES YES YES!!! That's my Morten I love! ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥 As James would say "Time to take a cold shower again, Shell? " 😂😂 Honestly though, I do love this whole album. I downloaded it and was listening to it a few nights ago. Whew....in many of these songs, he has at least a taste of scratch/gravel. Lots of extra embellishments. It's hard to pick just one song I love more than the others. This whole album is pretty much gold to me with the music and that woman's voice as well as Morten's , Wow.....

    What a great way to start Morten's Mondays at the beginning of January with this surprising song and what can we say about his vocal performance... Yep, it wakes you up!!! I really like both the very melodic musical line of the guitars as well as their intensity in their groove... There is a "live" audio/video version presented by Norwegian TV (NRK) on YT where you can appreciate the very excellent musicians who accompany Morten... This is my favorite version, even if the female singer from the studio version is absent because I believe that Morten's voice and performance is so magnificent that it is enough to give the song its full dimension.

    Bit like the Magne snow album, I'm guilty of ignoring this record. Last few songs I've tuned in for have been very worthy. Just wild - literally - vocally and musically.

    • @SofiaMarques18
      @SofiaMarques18 9 месяцев назад +3

      I told you so. 😜 Don't you agree this almost sounds like a Savoy song? 🤪 Though probably more "wild" than most by Savoy.

      @@SofiaMarques18 Yeah, it's sort of stripped back alternative rock - like a volcano that's ready to blow for four minutes. You know it's dangerous, and it boldly hints at this by showing you the lava bubbling at the crater. Maybe mid 90s Morten and Paul were closer musically than they thought. I think I used the term "primal" before although I can't remember who it was in relation to. Well this is raw and primal - shirtless Morten at his best.

      @@nearvanaman "Shirtless Morten" 😆
      Funny, that's what I thought, too - that they went their separate ways but were not doing something that different, after all. I had never thought about that before. But I think it's not that similar, either. It just makes me wonder what would have come out of a collaboration between the two at that time - as long as Paul allowed Morten to have an important role in the songwriting. Well, there's not much use in thinking about "alternative realities". And it probably would have failed completely. 😁

    Great to be back to Morten Mondays. 😊 Though this particular Monday has seen me feeling lower than I expected, due to sad memories, so I apologise in advance if it contaminates my comment.
    The word "quirky" immediately comes to my mind when I hear this song, and I really love its "eccentricity". What a crazy tune! Full of sonic audacity, edge and swagger, like you say. While listening to it today with you, I suddenly thought this could be a Savoy song! But I am not sure about that, the Savoy expert here is Graham. 😉
    On the other hand, and though I agree Morten's vocal work is impressive and suits the song, his voice sounds (again) a bit too strained and high-pitched for me to enjoy it completely. 🤷‍♀ It's a very personal thing, I guess I am too sensitive when voices sound "pitchy" (is that a word?). I said the same in your last Vogts Villa reaction, "Taksameteret Går". It just makes me feel uncomfortable, though he does it so well..
    I can't explain why, but I prefer hearing him sing this live - though the style is the same, there's something slightly different in the live performance that doesn't make me "itchy". He sang it in October 1996 at the Bredtveit prison for women, in Oslo (where he and his band performed for 50 prison inmates), and the concert was fortunately filmed and later broadcast by Norwegian TV, so we can still enjoy it today. ☺
    The songwriting is another collaboration of Morten with poet Ole Sverre Olsen, like many in Morten's solo albums (including 3 or 4 songs in Out Of My Hands!). Songs like these make me feel how much more "soul" there is in these early solo albums, in contrast with Out Of My Hands. The 2012 album may have its charms (at least for some 😂), I still enjoy a few songs in it, but it's something complerely different, not at all the "soulful" Morten we hear here. Well, it was a different time, too, and a different age. Things change and we couldn't expect Morten to stay the same, of course. I am just comparing and pointing out the difference.
    I haven't looked at the lyrics, sorry. Your translation of the title is correct (at least I think so), but I haven't even tried to understand the lyrics this time. I was / am counting on Kari for that.
    P. S. Ah, come on, Matt... I know you've done Madonna first thing after the Christmas break. 😜 Hand Solo may be right, after all. 😁

      Hey, hope you're feeling ok. On the subject of whether this could be a Savoy song, I think it certainly has the power and energy of a Savoy song. Just going by ear, I couldn't really name a Savoy song it reminds me of. The instrumentation is very different so it might just be a case of putting the headphones on and seeing what I hear (as such). I can't re-watch the video because I get distracted as Matt pulls faces when he gets blown away by a part. 🙃
