    Hi Billy, I drove LGV from approx 1973, the first artic was an Atkinson, 180 gardener, 5 speed David Brown gearbox.
    I did bulk tipper work in 1990,s to 2010 If you were tipping animal feed and it had been raining, rolling up that sheet, back to front
    you had to rig rope running back to front, the wet heavy sheet is now above you.
    You ended up wet and dirty rolling that sheet up, muttering thing like god bless my soul when I get back im handing in my notice.
    The good old days. Trev.

      The sheet on this one runs side to side I do have some clips on other videos of winding the sheet back

      We were getting easy sheets in the year 2000s and weighers in the cab at about the same time
      before then I've loaded dust out of quarries, no sheet, sprinkle water over the dust, form a crust, no dust cloud.
      I know you can't do that today, we just had to improvise then.
      I think most things now are for the better, Billy.
      tractor units, trailers and drivers hours all better. CPC I think is a waste of your time.
      when I first started driving in the 1970, I was told do an hour or two before you write in your logbook, that was normal mate. Trev.

      Congratulations on passing. Reversing is hard at first then one day it will all come together always take your time and if you're unsure get out and look even ask a driver to watch for you 90% of driver's will always help

    Interesting video I happened upon by chance. I'm a driver myself and living in Canada for the past 12 years so imagine my surprise when I find that you're loading in New Holland, which is where I am from.
    Just as a side note, nothing going to New Holland would be anywhere near large enough for 200,000 tons. Most ships would bring in 2000-4000 tons of cargo.

    Nice honest video without that BS that comes with others. I drive occasionally just to keep current but dont do it full time and those tippers do scare me. Class 2 be ok but class 1 would probably have my arse twitching like a rabbits nose lol

    Job done. Nice one Drive. I am seriously thinking tippers for my next adventure. Are your trucks manual or autos? Considering some of the places you go, I could see an argument for a manual, though most drivers prefer an automatic box these days.

    • @billybarton3258
      @billybarton3258  2 года назад

      These are auto does make the job easier you certainly go to strange places with the tipper's

    I'm starting tippers soon mostly grain is all places so claustrophobic? I'm a new class 1 driver places like this scares me 😱

    • @billybarton3258
      @billybarton3258  Год назад

      If you're doing grain you will be doing a lot of farm work which is always down narrow lanes and weight limit 😱 once you master that nothing will bother you if you're ever unsure always get out and look or if there is anybody there just ask them to watch you in

    God, the hours I spent as a kid with my old man in places like this back in the 70s, he did mostly this for 40+yrs with a firm called A G Watts, went bust a while back.
    Ever seen the hose let go on a ram? Funny, not for the driver, but still funny. 😁

    • @billybarton3258
      @billybarton3258  3 года назад

      One of our fleet bent the ram it snapped in half and smash through the cab.
      The driver was ok but the truck was a right off
