This was exactly what I needed to hear today! I’m a second grade teacher turned SAHM/homeschooling Mom and, to be perfectly honest, I’ve struggled to get past the idea that I need my great big classroom with all the things in it. I knew I didn’t, but for some reason, I’ve kept trying to replicate that in our home. I actually found your channel looking for inspiration and encouragement in setting up our homeschool space without a purpose designated room and you came through for me! Thank you!
I love how you allowed God to direct your homeschooling journey and your following that guidance is now being used to encourage me in following a similar path. ❤

I’ve found that for us the living room and kitchen work best. We have 7 kids and right now all I have is a small linen closet to keep the school stuff in 😬, the rest is in bins.
We are selling the house, but because we have so many we will probably never have a homeschool room.
I would suggest possibly using the old school room at least for storage.
We have moved a lot the past few years so we have really minimized. It does make things easier!! Also at the end of the year if I have curriculum I’m pretty sure we won’t be using, I sell it on eBay!

I know I want to use a table for homeschool so we are going to use the dining room and have any extra space in our house as a kid/playroom

I just placed my order with Abeka a couple days ago your videos are so informative and I’m nervous but so excited for this new journey my daughter is 6 and we were using k12 online and they were just overloading the kids with funding type classes that weren’t very helpful so I have made the decision to do unaccredited so I can be more hands on with my child I am so nervous and you have gave me hope that I can be successful at this

This is exactly what our homeschool looks like! There's a rolling cart with our manipulatives, reading books, and art supplies. Then there's a short white shelf that houses our curriculum and a few learning games. We push it all into a corner of our dining room, and it's almost unseen. We have 1 cork board hanging above it where we hang our calendar, current art, scripture of the week, and whatever we want to feature. I love it this way, simple and uncluttered, it makes me feel less anxious and we actually get to things cause we see it better! I really hope you have a speedy remodel so you can get your kitchen back, i know exactly how that feels and it's tough! Hang in there Lauren ☺️❤️

Sounds like an awesome set up…love the simplicity. It’s going pretty quick and we’re just happy that it’s finally happening after waiting for what felt like forever… so yes just a few more weeks!

We had a separate school room our first year, but quickly realized we preferred the dining room and living room. I bet you’re excited about getting your kitchen reno finished! 😊

We have a space that was built as a school room but we are using it as a pre teen den!!! My pre teens asked me if their sister was using it for school and I said I take it it’s your den!!! My youngest homeschools in the playroom or dining room!!! My older kids sometimes homeschool in the dining room if not in their bedrooms!!! We love using our living room as well!!! I sometimes use the den when I do one to one work with my pre teens!!! Their is only bean bags in there - their choice!!!

It is so funny this weekend I started organizing our school room too. I have even decluttered some of our books too. You are so right we you don’t need a school room. The dining room space looks great so far. Best of luck with the renovations I know that it can be hard. 🥴

Good for you! We had a palm tree that look like that and it completely came back to life with some TLC. It might need more sunlight then it's getting. We have a Homeschool Room but it's entirely for storage. I've been continually decluttering it overtime. One of my girls does all her school in her bedroom except math and spelling which I helped her with on the dining room table. I've had more peace since I've simplified our homeschool. There a lot of things we think we're going to need and we really don't. Also there's the process of letting go of expectations and a bit of grief mixed into it.

I just moved it over to that corner but yes, I think more sun and maybe something besides just water…I’m not a green thumb so I’ll have to look it up! Lol but you give me hope, so thank you! ☺️
I think it took me a few months to realize we didn’t need that space anymore, and I was at peace with it and kind of relieved I didn’t have to feel the burden to take care of yet another space (my husband my make it his office area)

We are minimalists as well & I love a clean space. Organization makes me feel peaceful in my home. We have always done school at our table. We’ve never had a school room available in homes we’ve lived in.

I can say from personal experience that living in a construction zone is rough but will be well worth it !

I will be traveling back to the States in June or July time frame, we are in Germany and I am so worried about the move back with everything being disorganized and then probably starting back homeschooling last minute 🫣 I get it, completely.
