I'm generally prudent with the use of superlatives. But not when it comes to Lovebites. These ladies are one of today's most spectacular and purest bands on the Metal turf (and beyond it). Elegance and excellence in perfect harmony. - and that since 2016. Unbelievable, yet (beautifully) true.
Rock/Metal/Jazz all have gone to Japan and have flourished. Female musicians in Japan are exceptional and they are world class and elite by their early 20's or they simply don't make it in the ultra competitive music scene there. Lovebites are each insanely talented and are an elite band especially LIVE. They wear their femininity proudly despite being petite and then in heels and gowns take the stage and turn into metal goddesses. Anything these women perform is going to be an elite performance from classical piano, ballet steps, acoustic guitars, metal, thrash, prog, etc... everything is surprising and never disappoints.
Good thing you guys discovered this band, they are my favorite ever and they have so many amazing songs to enjoy. Try Frozen Serenade live as just one example of how good they can be. 🤘🐺
This band is fantastic, they are primarily heavy-metal, thrash, power, speed metal. I actually got my own mother interested in this band, and she has had a lifelong hatred for metal music. I had her listen to about 10 songs, she said, "wow, this is so good, So I like metal now?" I told her probably not, because this band makes metal sound wonderful and they don't fall into some of the tropes that most people who hate metal bring up. A lot of their music is exquisitely composed masterpieces, filled out with piano and occasional strings, enhanced by a powerful voice. They have many styles and sub-genres, they are the perfect band for me, never in my life have I found so much purpose in the music and lyrics, real life advice, inspiring, and motivating lyrics. They ask their listeners to do their best and never give up, some lyrics are poems about historical battles and mythical stories. Check out their song called Edge of the world.
The ladies of lovebites are going to blow your mind with their music, simply put they are so skilled in the craft it's hard not to become addicted. Each member is a virtuoso in the instrument they play, and in the case of Miyako, (dark hair guitar),she's also a virtuoso pianist which you'll discover in your journey. Thanks for the reaction. They are primarily a Power Metal / Thrash Metal band, but they play a lot of genres of metal. They take a lot of inspiration from NWOBHM (New wave of British heavy metal) bands from the early 80s eg Iron Maiden etc. Absolutely silly levels of technical skill in the band. I saw them in London a few months back in a tiny 250 person venue, which was great fun! The singer, Asami, is actually always singing in English but she has a reasonably strong accent so can be a little hard to understand sometimes. There is a really amazing rock / metal scene in Japan at current. A truly huge number of bands, with many of the big ones being either all women or fronted. They range from punk, soft rock, hard rock, classic metal (LOVEBITES), metalcore, heavy as all hell etc. I don't know how popular the metal genre actually is in Japan in terms of radio play, cd / dvd sales (they still sell a lot of physical copies of music and films in Japan) There are a LOT of possible LOVEBITES suggestions as they have about a 60 song catalogue and whilst it's a matter of taste of course, from my point of view they don't really miss. So what I will do is suggest a live performance for one song for each of the main genres they do. Of these 4 bands, the only one I've listened to from time to time is Metallica, but mostly the ballad/symphonic stuff, 20+ years ago. More like Queen, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, ... Gary Moore is okay. The point is, I'm not a metal head. On the other hand, LOVEBITES got me immediately and thoroughly! Even with the more Thrash Metal parts...

Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects. Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the bassist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is 'new girl' Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string) The present members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE. Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcibed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman. Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos. Fami, Bacchus Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens. Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed. All members of the band can play piano/keyboards. They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023. This video is the opening of that concert and is the first time on stage with the band for Fami, and her first in front of an audience of this size. The most popular genre of music in Japan is still pop (J-pop), but it has a very healthy diverse music scene, from traditional to classical, jazz, rock, etc.. J-metal is not as well known in Japan, but it's making a big splash internationally. My go-to genre of music is not metal, but I love Lovebites, and they have been my favorite band since I discovered them 3, 4 years ago.

You're so lucky. You still have over 60 of their songs you have yet to hear. Miyako (the dark-haired guitarist) does give the impression it's a walk in the park, particularly when tapping (the technique you were asking about) as she's an ace pianist as well.

I discovered LOVEBITES about a month ago. I listened to every song twice now. They don't have a bad song. Actually all songs are at least very good. I love that Japan still values good music. I almost lost hope thinking there is only C-Rap music left. Babymetal, Band-Maid, Aldious, Mary's Blood and Nemophila are awesome, too.

Lovebites are the best Metal band in the world right now ( and isn't even close ) . I say this as someone who has been listening to Metal and Rock bands for over 50 years - so I've heard a few ! They are SO much more than your bog standard , one dimensional band - all their songs are different and their sheer musicality is unbelievable . It's worth trying a few songs to see if the singing style settles in for you. I was absolutely not used to the singing style Asami uses, or the level of vibrato etc. All the heavy music I listened to before had a very different vocal style. I had the same initial reaction. However after having listened to a few songs of them, I got used to it. And now I find the singing fantastic. I think it was the Japanese English accent that I had to get used to.
@@1970Phoenix An interesting perception concept. But allow me to make a small correction, thank you. Asami’s voice should be treated like a poorly tuned or broken instrument. But considering that she works alongside such "renowned" musicians as Midori and Miyako, who themselves are incapable of producing anything resembling notes even on perfectly tuned guitars, this combination will look quite natural together.
It's funny how the cultists never miss an opportunity to mention the recent "triumphant tour" of the so-called "metal goddesses." But here's the thing: I don't see any new faces. It's the same old (figuratively speaking) cultists, still in their usual ranks. And even the latest "masterpieces" released on Lowbuts' official channel can't boast impressive view counts... Asami actually sings entirely in English, but has an accent (of course!) that takes a minute to get used to. She’s incredible! The two guitarists are arguably the best pairing on any stage - their ability to harmonize and trade solos is mesmerizing. Fami on bass is the newest member (since 2022) and has injected a whole lot of energy into their live performances - she’s only 22 or 23years old! On drums Haruna will smash you! I'm generally prudent with the use of superlatives. But not when it comes to Lovebites. These ladies are one of today's most spectacular and purest bands on the Metal turf (and beyond it). Elegance and excellence in perfect harmony. - and that since 2016. Unbelievable, yet (beautifully) true.
Rock/Metal/Jazz all have gone to Japan and have flourished. Female musicians in Japan are exceptional and they are world class and elite by their early 20's or they simply don't make it in the ultra competitive music scene there. Lovebites are each insanely talented and are an elite band especially LIVE. They wear their femininity proudly despite being petite and then in heels and gowns take the stage and turn into metal goddesses. Anything these women perform is going to be an elite performance from classical piano, ballet steps, acoustic guitars, metal, thrash, prog, etc... everything is surprising and never disappoints.

This band is fantastic, they are primarily heavy-metal, thrash, power, speed metal. I actually got my own mother interested in this band, and she has had a lifelong hatred for metal music. I had her listen to about 10 songs, she said, "wow, this is so good, So I like metal now?" I told her probably not, because this band makes metal sound wonderful and they don't fall into some of the tropes that most people who hate metal bring up.
A lot of their music is exquisitely composed masterpieces, filled out with piano and occasional strings, enhanced by a powerful voice. They have many styles and sub-genres, they are the perfect band for me, never in my life have I found so much purpose in the music and lyrics, real life advice, inspiring, and motivating lyrics. They ask their listeners to do their best and never give up, some lyrics are poems about historical battles and mythical stories. Check out their song called Edge of the world.

The ladies of lovebites are going to blow your mind with their music, simply put they are so skilled in the craft it's hard not to become addicted. Each member is a virtuoso in the instrument they play, and in the case of Miyako, (dark hair guitar),she's also a virtuoso pianist which you'll discover in your journey. I saw them in London back in July, and they are this good for real. A true once in a lifetime band. 🤘🎤🎸🥁🎹🐺🇬🇧

They are primarily a Power Metal / Thrash Metal band, but they play a lot of genres of metal. They take a lot of inspiration from NWOBHM (New wave of British heavy metal) bands from the early 80s eg Iron Maiden etc. Absolutely silly levels of technical skill in the band.
I saw them in London a few months back in a tiny 250 person venue, which was great fun!
The singer, Asami, is actually always singing in English but she has a reasonably strong accent so can be a little hard to understand sometimes.
There is a really amazing rock / metal scene in Japan at current. A truly huge number of bands, with many of the big ones being either all women or fronted. They range from punk, soft rock, hard rock, classic metal (LOVEBITES), metalcore, heavy as all hell etc. I don't know how popular the metal genre actually is in Japan in terms of radio play, cd / dvd sales (they still sell a lot of physical copies of music and films in Japan)
There are a LOT of possible LOVEBITES suggestions as they have about a 60 song catalogue and whilst it's a matter of taste of course, from my point of view they don't really miss.
So what I will do is suggest a live performance for one song for each of the main genres they do. So these songs will differ a lot, from Power metal to Ballads, Anthems, Thrash, 80s synth cheesey metal etc

I would question this hypothesis! Of these 4 bands, the only one I've listened to from time to time is Metallica, but mostly the ballad/symphonic stuff, 20+ years ago. More like Queen, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, ... Gary Moore is okay. The point is, I'm not a metal head. On the other hand, LOVEBITES got me immediately and thoroughly! Even with the more Thrash Metal parts...

Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects.
Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the bassist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is 'new girl' Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string)
The present members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE.
Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcibed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman.
Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bacchus Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed.
All members of the band can play piano/keyboards.
They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023. This video is the opening of that concert and is the first time on stage with the band for Fami, and her first in front of an audience of this size.

The most popular genre of music in Japan is still pop (J-pop), but it has a very healthy diverse music scene, from traditional to classical, jazz, rock, etc.. J-metal is not as well known in Japan, but it's making a big splash internationally. My go-to genre of music is not metal, but I love Lovebites, and they have been my favorite band since I discovered them 3, 4 years ago.
What started off as curiosity quickly transcended to an obsession. Love Lovebites 🏴 🤘 🐺
This is metal. Harken back to the late 70's through the early 90's of metal, and Lovebites takes their inspirations from that era. Asami the singer does sing in English, but her accent can make it difficult at times to understand. This is a worthy rabbit hole to jump into. The musicianship in this band is elite.

I discovered LOVEBITES about a month ago. I listened to every song twice now. They don't have a bad song. Actually all songs are at least very good. I love that Japan still values good music. I almost lost hope thinking there is only C-Rap music left. Babymetal, Band-Maid, Aldious, Mary's Blood and Nemophila are awesome, too.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have already released 4 full length studio albums, 4 EPs, a best of compilation and a bunch of live albums, available on CD/DVD/Blu-ray.
In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest.
They also played their first US shows this year in September.
In 2021 the band went into a hiatus, because founder and bassist Miho quit the band for personal reasons. During the break also two babies were born. LOVEBITES came back in October 2022 with new bassist Fami and a few months later with new album „Judgement Day“. Their newest release is „LOVEBITES EP II“ with 5 amazing new songs.

"We Are BAAAAACK!" First song of the first live set in more than two years. They lost their founder, two of them had babies, they weathered the pandemic--and they just came out with guns blazing. No other band like this in the world. Congrats on starting off with this. There are some 70 more songs for you to explore, and no duds.

One of my 3 favorite bands today. I'd say they are probably the best metal band around right now, definitely the best 80s style metal band. Checkout Judgment Day, live or video, both are awesome.

Liked your honest reaction, but you ain't heard nothing yet, greetings from Scotland. I saw them for the 2nd time in London on the 1st of July this year, the capacity was only 600 people and I was at the front near Miyako(black hair). Despite being in very close proximity to the fans they were charming, friendly and humble, interacting and joking with the crowd, absolutely fantastic. If you listen closely you will find that LOVEBITES sings all of their songs in English. Thick Japanese accent but English. Try Judgement Day. It has the Subtitles and you will find it easier to hear the words.

These amazing All Female Bands saved my faith to music..99,99% of Rock/Metal-music here in Western World is boring..In Japan there are tens of great bands..Band-Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie, Bridear, East Of Eden, Trident, Hagane, Fate Gear, Nek!, Hades etc..They are carrying the torch now. Love bites is name of the song of other bands. Name of THIS band IS LOVEBITES. Smart girl (woman). They play HEAVY METAL. They are the best.
Sounds more Thrash metal leaning to me,clearly immensely talented,it's just not my genre of choice,don't think i've ever seen metal performed in an evening dress before,very cool.I do love the aesthetics of these type of bands,on this and the Band Maid one you did recently,but then i already love Japanese films and culture more generally.

Interesting, I love the music/style but really dislike the singing, and I found the same with the band maid vid 😬
It's worth trying a few songs to see if the singing style settles in for you. I was absolutely not used to the singing style Asami uses, or the level of vibrato etc. All the heavy music I listened to before had a very different vocal style. After about 4 - 5 days, and 3 / 4 songs into LOVEBITES it normalised for me and now I really like her singing, but before I was a little put off by it.
That might not happen for you as maybe her voice or style just isn't your thing. But if it takes your interest, worth a shot maybe.

I understand. I used to feel the same way. The trick is to treat Asami's voice as another instrument in the band.
I had the same initial reaction. However after having listened to a few songs of them, I got used to it. And now I find the singing fantastic. I think it was the Japanese English accent that I had to get used to.
@@1970Phoenix An interesting perception concept. But allow me to make a small correction, thank you. Asami’s voice should be treated like a poorly tuned or broken instrument. But considering that she works alongside such "renowned" musicians as Midori and Miyako, who themselves are incapable of producing anything resembling notes even on perfectly tuned guitars, this combination will look quite natural together.
I think that’s fair enough! We all have our different opinions and preferences which is what makes music so amazing, there’s something for everyone!
It's funny how the cultists never miss an opportunity to mention the recent "triumphant tour" of the so-called "metal goddesses." But here's the thing: I don't see any new faces. It's the same old (figuratively speaking) cultists, still in their usual ranks. And even the latest "masterpieces" released on Lowbuts' official channel can't boast impressive view counts... Makes you think.
