Switched from Taylormade Tour Preferred MBs last summer to the MP18 MMC. My biggest worry was losing the feel from the blades switching to a cavity iron. The pro I did my fitting with told me.. "Don't worry about feel, they're Mizuno". I'm so happy I bought them, I don't think I'll ever switch iron brands. They feel fantastic and are more forgiving on my misses. The size difference from a blade to the MP18 isn't much either. I'm not sure if it's the irons, but this summer I was able to bring my handicap down from 6.7 to 2.9. My advice to anyone buying irons... Get fitted, ask questions, and try a few different brands. Great vid Matt! I'll be binging your videos the next few months to get me through a long Canadian winter!
I worked for Mizuno over 10 years ago an had the opportunity to visit the old fitting centre over in Kingston. Its amazing to see just how far its come... I remember the unveiling of the swing DNA machines an how much of a game changer that was... plus beareood lakes is an unbelievable nice course!
Loved my Mizuno fitting. I was sceptical at first as to how a custom fit would benefit. Wow. What a difference it has made to my game. If nothing else I’m much more confident behind the ball. The extra distance and reduced dispersion is a bonus too 😉
Very nice Matt, I just had a fitting and it was nearly the same process, shaft first, club head, loft and lie. I was in a club that I never even remotely thought I would be close to choosing where my golf game is right now.
Looking forward to seeing your WITB - just had my custom fit, not Mizuno, and went through the same process and was surprised with the recommendations - Great insight into how a fitter works...
Quality Matt. Recently had a fit and ended up with 921 hot metal 4 - LW. The HM look amazing but have bags of forgiveness which I need and like. Never seen a game improvement iron that performs so well look so good. Can’t wait for them to arrive now
Fantastic Matt. This is something I will definitely do and the clarity from the mizuno team is epic. I’m hoping better fit, better golf. Keep up the great work

Great video matt, really interesting to find out how a fitting works, always wondered, it's amazing how much technology plays a big part and so quick, in just a few swings!! Really looking forward to the next video, keep up the good work mate, loving your videos 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for this Matt. Good stuff to know before a fitting that’s not on a truck. I was supposed to go see someone once that does a one club fitting. Not sure that’s in depth enough. Cheers mate. Please stay safe
Recently bought some jpx919 hot metals with graphite recoil shafts was custom fitted at American golf please don't slate me but I got nothing like this service and don't think after about 20 rounds trying to get used to them that they suit my game .Not being the best golfer thought it would help getting fitted how do I get reassessed to see if they are right for me or am I just a really bad golfer cheers.
I just switched fr9m mizuno jpx 919 tours to Srixon z965....just can’t handle the offset in the mizuno irons....these Srixon are freaking amazing...mizuno feels better though
Great video, I have the Icons in the bag at the moment, I’ll miss seeing you play the same irons I have, but I look forward to seeing you hit your new sticks, cheers from AZ, USA!
Great video 👍 Just got fitted for a set of Mizuno JPX921 Hot Metal Pro's at American Golf. Session was nearly exactly the same although they didn't have the shaft gadget. Still led me through all my options and spoke of all the things in your video (even got my hand measured for the correct grip), can't wait till I get my hands on them and recommend anyone to get fitted 👌
@@mikerussell1765 my local American golf said its free fitting but they don’t give you the specs so you have to buy through them which s fair enough. @D Romer which branch did you get fitted at?
Every 2 years I have a Mizuno fitting. Each time my first thought is that want a set of DNA test clubs, they always feel so easy to swing. Results are usually a recommendation of 3 shafts, 2 of which nice but quite similar. Then option 3 gives you another 10 yards and you're hooked! I'm constantly surprised that at 5'8" and short legged I end up with an upright lie angle, but that's the sort of preconception Matt talks about that a good fitting will overcome. Just wish they would make a Hot Metal utility iron available - come on Mizuno, if its good enough for Brookes...
Good vid matt can't wait for the big reveal. I just got fitted for my driver last weekend and was really good experience. Thought I would end up with something different but I'm over moon.
Well I went with the 3 in mind 1st ts2 mizuno st200 or cobra speedzone. Hot them all and the speedzone was furthest. Got it in 10.5 stiff shaft. Arctic white coz I wasn't keen on the yellow. Had it out at range today and was hitting it well.
Hi Matt, Really great video. I returned to golf this year after about 30 years should I have lessons first or go straight to a club fitting? Used to play off 15 but after about 12 rounds in the summer I didn't manage to break 100 I'm afraid.
Loved this, so informative. Like you said I had a perception, that was completely wrong. Not happy about the tease at the end mind. LETS SEE ‘EM! Worse than my misses 🙄😂 Excited for the whats in the bag video.
I’m a bit worried that I would certainly need more than 3 shots as at the moment I’m pretty Erratic as I’m just getting back into playing after a very long break (25+) years after a car accident, which is pretty hard as I used to have a 15/18 handicap which I thought for only a weekend worrier wasn’t too bad
Hi Matt, I saw an interesting question recently asking when we go for a custom fitting should we be fitted by hitting a short, mid and long iron in stead of just the six iron as most amateurs hit short irons far better than mid and long irons.
Probably one of my favourite videos about at the minute Matt. I’m new to the game and only started in May, partly because of Covid and a bad ankle football injury combined but I’m now hooked !! I’m still playing off around 26 and I’ve been toying with the idea of looking at a fitting but always felt abit embarrassed really as an amateur golfer my perception has always been these sort of things are for better players. Would you recommended this sort of experience for a high handicap player? And also how much does the fitting itself cost or it is kind of tied into the cost of the rather expensive clubs you’d probably be purchasing? Thanks for the content 👌🏽👍🏽
Yes I would recommend it, depending on where you go it can be free or there may be a charge. Manufacturer sites show the demo days so with starting there and seeing what is on offer and what cost
Ive been fitted by AG and ended up getting hot metal pro from 4 - 6 and forged from 7 - GW and they blend so good. I'll take a guess that youve done similar but with tour/ forged 🙈 Love the content matt fan from liverpool !
