i have the hornby western invader one i thought it was weathered by the previous owner. nice to see the lima model as well one of my favourites with great pulling power for its age. The dapol one looks really good I have often thought about getting one. Really enjoyed this video thanks for sharing

Just come across this video, great session mate, can't fault Dapol and Heljan but the Trix is brilliant in its simplicity, thanks again.😎

Really appreciate you taking the time to post this interesting video. Many Thanks. Is an update possible to include the Liliput version (which I am given to understand features a different motor to the Trix Britain version) ? Also, a direct comparison of all of them in terms of pulling power specifically and performance generally would be really worthwhile please.

For value for money option I'd get a lima one. Cheap and cheerful.
But it would be the Dapol one. Looks and runs brilliant

got the dapol one . but have soft spot for the trix one despite its age.

I have a soft spot for the Trix ones, partly because I have had one since 1975. Not all of the Trix / Llilput ones go that well but that is probably because of their age and that some are at least second-hand.

Hi I was wondering if you recommend any of the Class 52 Westerns as I am thinking about getting one and I am also thinking about getting A Lima class 33 to double head with the class 52 to pull my Pioneer special which consists of A Gresley LNER teak brake coach a BR maroon mk1 Restaurant car and a Gresley teak composite coach and a BR maroon mk1 brake composite coach which have sorted and shunted into position by my Austerity 0-6-0 saddle tank and the order of the coaches is Teak composite brake coach, Mk1 Restaurant car, Teak composite coach and then BR maroon mk1 composite coach and then Teak composite coach and BR maroon mk1 brake composite

If you are going to use a lima 33 then I'd recommend a lima 52. Try to get a later one without the oversize lamp moulding on the cab fronts.

The worst one was the Hornby. Bogie frames carrying bodyshell detail and the one piece plastic windows just horrible. The others not bad for the time. Winner for me is Heljan even over the later Dapol. I have 3 all faultless . Dapol looks good but I heard it has pick up problems and not keen on the coupling going thru a slot in the front valance.cheers.
