    I think the SAQ jump the gun too soon and told Quah she going to Paris since the WA say give exception. But they didnt repdict that another swimmer actually got a OCT, so now someone actually is a better fit into the relay and WA dont need to give exception rule to SG, of course they will reject Quah appear.
    If SAQ told Quah right at the signing of the document that in the event that another qualify swimmer appear someone in the relay will get dropped then i think it'll be fair.
    SAQ never say anything to prep and suddenly make a switch like that of course Quah is pissed. But at the end of the day, like their first statement, it is in the best interest of the team that the young swimmer who actually got a OCT to participate and not Quah simply because Quah didnt get a OCT.

      you are wrong. all the swimmers know in 2023 that there is a policy that if there is a OCT spot after picking the universality spot, the OCT spot will take precedence. this is because 2 years ago the tokyo olympic same thing happen and the appeal committee kind of f up, so the SAQ had come up with a policy.
      regarding jumping the gun, you are wrong again. the SAQ cannot know when the World Aquatic will finalise the OCT spot, or whether there are still OCT spot left. It is very close to the send off already then they pick their universality spot. just that the OCT spot came in very last minute.

      Because Letitia qualified for Lompoc’s standard, no question, she swims breaststroke. Gan qualified through invitation, she also must swim. Gan only can swim freestyle. Her 100mtiming is 1-2 seconds worse Ting wen. Levenia is a backstroke specialist, no one do it better than Levenia at back stroke. Jing Wen and Ting Wen butterfly stroke are similar timing. So actually Ting Wen could argue she takes the place of Jing wen, her sister.

    • @-windyf1089

      Both cannot go because Quah didn't get invited for any individual event. If Quah made it for either the A-cut or B-cut for any individual event, she would have kept her position in the relay team and Gan wouldnt need to sub in for her (and both would be able to go for the meet).
      The boss here is the World Aquatics. Honestly the issue isn't really with the Sg side as they have no control over the timeline. .
      The order of events is this: A-cut invites sent > Countries submit the names of the swimmers participating in event > B-cut invites is then sent after that

She never blamed Gan for anything. I don’t know how it became her ego issue? The one to blame has to be the way the SAQ managed the whole situation.

    • @ps-co3ip
      @ps-co3ip Месяц назад +4

      I completely understand and sympathise with her plight but I think it is also not really fair to Gan. The context is that the last Olympic selection, Gan was already removed from the opportunity to race in the olympics due to Quah’s appeal and she gracefully accepted it. In this situation, although it is definitely frustrating to be removed in the last minute and I do not blame her. But I sincerely feel that Gan did not deserve this and is the true victim in this situation, having to deal with being the supposed “at fault” when the exact same thing happened to her the previous round and is just part of the decision process.

    • @atticuslai
      @atticuslai Месяц назад +2

      The document which Quah signed, is an acknowledgement that she will participate in the coming Olympics. It doesn't guarantee she will be in Paris because the signing is done before World Aquatics decide on the "B" cut-off. Perhaps the document was not explicitly clear on that, but it is assumed athletes knows this and shouldn't assume.

    • @biolf1

    AiYah, I think you forget something very very important......why the SAQ drop QTW. For Gan to accept the invitation SAQ have to decide between whether to stick with the original plan of 3 non-qualifiers or bring in Gan and drop someone from the original team. To the SAQ bringing in the OCT is a no-brainer. They cover that point by saying that it is in their selection policy and make known to the team quite some time ago. But the decision to drop the elder Quah reek of ageism some may argue, plus she is already a 3 time olympic games veteran so they think enough liao give the younger ones a chance...... as for the younger ones, do they really care that their da jie jie didn't make it? well you just have to read the comments from one of the Sim sisters......

    • @Slla-th5vt

      At the end of the day, is she didn't meet the qualifying standard mah. Cannot be let someone drop their individual events to let her complete for something she didn't qualify anyway.
      As for letting someone younger go, as said, she joined 3 times with nothing to show for it. What's wrong with giving the chance to someone else.
      If you think dropping her reeks of agism, then won't letting her go reeks of favourism? If she qualify by her own merit, then can call agism. If she needs special treatment, then why shouldn't give to someone else with more potential?
