- Following the recent Vietnam war-era Mig-19S Review, here is a kit of it's natural adversary, an Italeri (originally ESCI 1982) classic.

Looks great for 1982 tooling.
These kits are very nice considering the age. Glad Italeri keeps them available with modern quality decals.
Remember doing this under the ESCI? label a very long time ago. It built up very neatly, and was very impressive because of engraved panel lines and detail.
Yes it's an old ESCI. The ESCI kits where better in the eighties than the Italeri kits was 20 years later.
A re-do of the ESCI kit of over 40 years ago....which was fantastic for its' time.
Great fit, all engraved panel lines, accurate. Only the basic cockpit let it down.
Agree......cheap too back in the day!
Does ot come with u.s.a.f. "Thunderbirds" option on the decal sheet?
@@jaws666original Esci yes, this boxing no. Esci has done multiple special boxings with different markings including a Thunderbird version ( multi kit for the whole team).
Also the Tamiya release. Nice kit,I did the Danish option which is well photographed, for reference. The Twin seater is pretty much the same except for different fuselage halves.
@@rodneypayne4827 nive one..have an Esci Tornado IDS/Gr Mk1 in the stash
Only made one Italeri kit and that was a Crusader tank and that went together fine, always liked the F100 it's got lovely lines then again look at the F86 nice review 👍
Old ESCI job. Stands up well.
Yep. '82👍🏻
As far as shape goes I think it is better than the trumpeter kit. It does need at the min an aftermarket cockpit set to make the detail really pop.
Thanks for the review...the F-100 has been a favorite since I was a pup. At the end of their service I did see a flight of 4 Super Sabres in flight and it was very impressive. The plane is one of many that looks better with its drop tanks than without.
Looks like a nice kit...that french one with the sharks mouth is the 1 i would do
Interesting subject nice markings 👍
Those 'tanks' on the outboard pylons are rocket pods for WP target markers with the aerodynamic cover on them. There was 4 to 8 depending on the version of pod. These are the 4 rocket version.
Great kits these built about 7 or 8..
This is one of their better kits and they added weapons and stuff I think to the esci boxing
Really cool model.
Another nice kit 👍
This isn't the old ESCI offering of the Hun? The cockpit has some detail and not just decals so maybe not but it's a fine kit and I should get one or two.
I have an FW-190D-9 kit from 1978 spelled Italaerei. The kit was okay. The weird thing is a stand was included, but there was no slot on the underside of the model for it... 🤔
I have a kit of the Bo-105 helicopter with that older spelling of Italeri, I can see why they changed it!
@@maxbrandt6 Probably an EU thing... 😏
Looks nice. Did Esci ever do a 1/48 version?
I don’t recall one. 🤔
I have just finished an old ESCI 1:48 Mirage 3c (on scalemates it is the box art with the sand/brown camo version with a Silver variant peeling away) .. i can tell you now that F100 does not look like an ESCI moulding ..
.
My Mirage had raised panel lines and molded in a really hard silvery plastic .. very basic details .. and the instruction screwed up the paint guide ..the colour callout letters didn't match .. and the printing was that old it had FADED ..so I couldn't tell what some of the paint colours were ...lol ..... so i just did it in a French Silver version .. however ..it is a rather nice model when completed .. bit tricky - fit problems .
Not bad looking at all for something from 1982.
The wing fences on the F-100, and other early swept wing aircraft like the MiG-17, reduce or prevent the development of spanwise airflow at high angles of attack. Without the fences, the airflow at the wingtips could be entirely spanwise resulting in a tip stall followed by an abrupt pitch up. This was usually catastrophic in the F-100 (see: Sabre Dance).
There was an issue with the first afterburner that was fitted to teh F-100 J-57 installation, sometimes it would not work, so NOrth American took the afterburner used on the F-102 and fitted it on teh J-57 used on the F-100. Maybe that explains teh two tail pipes?
It's just the burner in different positions, open and closed.
The super saber had two different afterburner cans but yes it did have a reheater
ANG F-100's were fitted with the F-102 burner cans. Worked better and more reliable.
Peter it started life as an ESCI kit in 1982 FGS!
Yes it says that in the vid description.
While very similar to the ESCI kit, it's not exactly the same. Italeri released in 1998, its 90% similar to the original ESCI kit but there are differences. The Italeri version has one mistake though: it has an extra canopy bow that should be removed. The cockpit detailing was improved with raised details on the side consoles and instrument panel, but nothing too much like the real thing. The original ESCI kit had a bare cockpit. The ejection seat has more parts. The Italeri model doesn't have the Bullpup missiles of the Esci issue, instead it has two nice M117 bombs and two LAU-10 rocket pods. The kit has the shorter (275 gallon) version of the large drop tanks whereas Esci had the longer ones (335 gallon, used from the mid-sixties on). The Italeri tanks are also slightly fatter, 9.5 mm diameter instead of 8.9 mm, or a 14% larger cross-section area (which is what you see). Another small difference is the external ribbing of the rudder. Esci molded both sides of ribbed part on the left fuselage half, Italeri splits it between the two halves. The landing gear detail and the tail skid were improved; the main gear tires are larger in diameter.
Looks much better then the hawk 1/48 I built never again i put them in to the revell camp good vlog Peter 👍
It's a good kit and makes a good model. only transparency is a bit off ,because that center frame does not exist on the real plane.🤔
......соооовсем древний наборррр.....
Ever finish a kit and then realise you chose the wrong option?
