'Enjoying' your rant and have a terrible sinking feeling - I have one of these 'gems' in my loft stash! Wondering if I should donate it to some deserving cause . . . I work in the kit industry and I help produce instruction sheets, decoration guides etc for a well know kit manufacturer so I have an intimate understanding of the issues you are raising. The stuff I produce is checked by the supplier to a generally very high standard and the corrections drive me nuts. I go through this pain for guys like you so you can avoid the stress you have encountered with this Harrier build (blood has been spilled!). I am also a kit builder of old, been doing it since I was around 7 years old, I'm now in my late fifties so plenty of experience, none of it quite as bad as yours though! Thanks for your persevearence, I will have to think long and hard before I attempt this (I also have the FRS 2 I think, oh dear . . .)

I rarely bother with in-box review these days, I'd rather see something like yours, or just a full build video, at least its possible to judge the fit in those.
I've had this kit since close to its release. I was desperate for a better FRS1 than the old Tamiya one. But I've never built it due to all the horror stories about its build issues.You've done a fantastic job.
Had this kit on my wishlist since it came out... Shame that I have to skip it. No way I let myself go trough all of this frustration. You just saved me a lot of money Peter, thank you :)

Peter Peter Ohhh Peter please have some fun in modelling. I must admit Kenetic being a Chinese company don't have the same value on the customers opinion when it comes to making money they just care about profit but for some reason that Sea Harrier looks a little short in the fuselage mate The Sea Harrier was about 2.5" longer in the Fuselage than the Land based Harrier and the Kenetic kit just looks like the original Harrier fuselage. I actually think the 48th scale Airfix Sea Harrier FRS-1 is one off the most accurate airframe models on the market for the Sea Harrier FRS-1 However I like the finished result you got and I hope you believe it was worth all the effort you put in as I think it was.
All your complaints and you have built a fantastic model. You have proven one thing Peter, you can turn a pig into a beautiful swan or in this case a sea Harrier.👍👍
Not that it matters but the main gear doors should be in the closed position, unless they'd been intentionally opened by the ground crew for maintenance. Also on those Operation Corporate FRS.1s, the EDSG extended all the way into the air intakes, including the conical engine fan surrounds. Very nice build by the way, I'm currently working my way through the same kit at the moment.

Hi Peter, enjoyed your RANT! I agree, life is too short to fight with some kits when there are sooo many enjoyable kits out there. On another topic, I’m interested in knowing if you are going to do a follow up video on your model stash. I know you were asking people to come clean on their stashes and there values, did anyone volunteer that information? I’m as guilty as most as I’m waiting for my pre-ordered Airfix Mk VIII Spitfire in 1/24 while I have last years Mk IX already unbuilt in my stash. Why do we do it? Neil 👍
@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab I’ve done a rough estimate and I think mine comes it at around £3000! I do have quite a few Halcyon Alien kits which are quite pricey which bumps it up a bit. Scary thought is at 54 years old I worry about getting them all built and I still buy more. Crazy.
@@garrylum6025 Sorry I must disagree: that is wrong, it was over £73 RRP on release in the UK which is why I was so angry...its probably much cheaper now because everybody knows it's bad, affecting sales...this level of difficulty will probably put 80% off the hobby!

You obviously haven't had a go at the Tamiya one .. that really is a pig .... Please give it a go .... It is the wrong shape ..too fat .. and they have moulded the intake flaps shut ( they have just scribed them on the intakes) .. of course when a Harrier is on the ground these flaps open and droop .. looks odd with them shut .. to name but a couple of errors
