What a great gift! I was deliberating about which kit to get for a while and went for one of these. ( It was the engine fans that swayed my decision ). Cheers for the review, best of this kit Ive watched!
I bypassed the GWH A-10C, because I am more interested in the GWH A-10A; which has already been pre-ordered for 87.66USD. Thank you for the review as always.
Hi pete....sorry but had to change my user details....formerly known on here a jaws.....went on a bit of a spending splurge today and picked up 15 kits (16 actually as 1 of the boxes had 2 kits in it but i think it should have been only 1.
Hi Peter, once again you have hit the target with this review of the 1/48 A-10C version by Great Wall Hobby. I was going to buy one of the Hobbyboss models in 1/48 scale but held back when this kit was announced earlier in the year. This looks to be one of the best renditions so far in this scale. I have made the Great Wall Hobby 1/48 Mig 29 SMT Fulcrum in the past. Just like this kit there are a vast number of parts which are extremely well designed, detailed and injection moulded. These models take a good deal of time to assemble and complete; however the final results are very pleasing and look good next to a Tamiya 1/48 Tomcat. I will be purchasing this model in the near future along with the Magic Factory 1/48 Skyhawk. Now the model stash is going to expand! Should I sign up to Modellers Anonymous? I’m sure there are many more modellers should become members as well!
I'm not allowed to have a stash lol, my wife saw pictures of my old house and modelling room lol. So now I'm allowed to build all I want, but can't have more than 2 kits at a time 😂😂😂
Agreed. The Shadow under the nose is absolutely not smoke staining. It also used to be neatly painted with a canopy frame early on. GWH and Trumpeter colour sheets are often completely wrong colours & sometimes just pure fantasy, so it's hardly a surprise they did that. The seats on A-10s do have canopy breakers, but they are just triangular plates on the headrest. Those "canopy smash claws" are pitot heads that feed information to the seat during ejection. The seat is guided to some degree by a gyro, and uses various sensors & contraptions to orient the seat, & make sure it goes up rather than sideways etc. PS. Going full Pilkington on those weapons Peter. How can you mark down a kit because it hasn't got what a completely different kit once had? You'd better steer clear of the GWH SU-27BM Ukrainian kit. It hasn't got a single missile or bomb included - an omission that was extremely annoying given the other kits had those 1 piece missile sets.
Nice kit Pete the a10 tank distroyer and phantom are the best American planes loved making phantom in the seventies I think the a10 is about 40 years old
I have only around 28 kits in my stash…I know, pitiful ☹️🤪. I recently donated a large batch to cut the stash down. I didn’t see the point in holding onto models I know I won’t build, let alone have somewhere to display them (ship kits).

F-111 killed more tanks than the A-10 in Desert Storm in a tactic called "Tank plinking."
