I know that this was my very first video game because I barely remembered it until now. For all of my life, I've walked around with images of a boxing ladybug and thought that I was out of my mind. I'm finally vindicated.

I swear to God when I fought the first boss as a kid, there was no music. Maybe a disc error or something, but that boss was much creepier w/o music.
You probably played the game on PC. The same happened to me, there was not music in the levels.
PC version had a no music bug on the first boss.
Weird because I had music and I always did jam to it
Sorry for such the late reply, but if you played Croc on PC without the disc for the computer to run (via direct download from disc), the whole game ran without music (minus the intro and final scenes). Took me a few years to figure that one out. Definitely gave Croc a different feel, but I loved the game all the same. :)

This game is very underrated, always loved it and played it, nobody really talks about this game and I feel sad, let's hope someone does a remaster to this some time

yeah. that game was super hard when you were like 5-9 years old. I still have that game and I love coming back to it about 1 time per year

Man I remember I couldn't beat this as a kid. Later on when I was 15 I grabbed my ps and decided to finally beat this game lol
When you think about it, the main hero is the villain. Dante just gave a lot of these creatures human-like capabilities that would allow them to do so many cool things, and Croc took that away from them. What a meanie!
Also, the first boss is a sneetch.
Yeah, but the magic of Dante makes them evil.

Interesting boss music at 0:15, not what I expected at all, sounds like dance/happy music in a way, not like what I'd generally hear from a boss theme.

How in the sam-heck did I ever have this game? I grew up with PS2, and I had some pretty obscure games, including Magic Pengel, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, and Jak and Daxter, among a few others, and I had this game too, which WAS compatible with the PS2. How I managed to find that treasure trove is beyond me, but I had them when I got my PS2, they must have come with it I suppose or my mother chose them. Either way, I was happy as can be growing up on those games.

Since Croc never sees Dante do his magic, these guys would just be random weirdos in Croc's view. He always looks so confused after they change back to their normal form and walks away.^^*

Itsy the Ice Demon was pretty scary.
Neptuna was quite gimmicky.
It's interesting that Flibby is still smiling even when she's knocked down on her back!
I remember these boss battles. I never beat this game on Sony PS1 when I was a kid because I thought it was hard but I eventually beat it on Sony PS2 when I was 14 and I collected all jigsaw puzzles.

This was my first game that I beat I was 6 at the time, and sometimes I would just run around the first boss because I loved the music so much. Who else wants crash, spyro, croc and gex in smash Bros ultimate

i've come to the conclusion that this guy is a plok equivalent, a real obscure character that everyone praises for some reason
Interesting little game. Serves as a bit of a transitional period between the 16-bit era traditions and game design stuff that would be standardized for the PS2 (you CAN play with no memory card and the old D-pad-only controller, but it's a huge pain in the ass). Was never amazing, but I'm glad it's not forgotten

Honestly, the games weren't that good.
The original Croc was an amazing game, especially for 1997. Croc 2 was somewhat enjoyable but definitely not as good as the first IMO.
@@multivolt473 after playing them for a bit, the first Croc was genuinely enjoyable. The controls took a little bit of time to get comfortable with, but they make things pretty easy early on so you can get comfortable with them. The stage design is pretty good, and Croc has this Sonic the Hedgehog style life system that's pretty forgiving. For the time, it also had pretty good graphics.
it baffles me how so much in the second game got worse. The graphics don't feel as detailed, especially the Gobos the controls are even harder to get comfortable with, but the worst part? You have to do every single stage on one single life! If you die during a stage, you have to do the entire stage over! You start out with three hit point instead of that Sonic the Hedgehog system, though you can get a fourth hit point pretty early. That being said, I can't even complete the easiest stages because the controls are just so bad. You expect left and right to turn, but know if you hold down those buttons for too long, then he starts running that direction. You also can't press back to go backwards, like you could in the original game. this Meeks Precision platforming, which was already somewhat difficult in the first game, a complete nightmare in the second one.
overall, I felt that the first one was good and the second one was not.
I agree they need to make that game.
