Alireza Firouzja vs Nihal Sarin | World Rapid 2021

- Опубликовано: 25 дек 2021
- 3 years ago everyone was questioning as to who is a bigger talent - Alireza Firouzja or Nihal Sarin. Both of them are just a year apart and are phenomenal speed players. But in the last couple of years Alireza has simply had the run of his life and has made it to 2800+ Elo in classical chess. Nihal is still on 2660. He has a year to catch up the Iranian genius.
All of that being said, whenever Nihal and Alireza clash against each other it is a game that every chess fan looks forward to. Nihal believes that he can beat Firouzja and this was amply shown in the first half of the game where the Indian GM played his moves at lightning speed. But who triumphed at the end? Check the video to find out.

chessbase india so far is literally the only channel showing the footage correctly: full view of the board and the players, with a 2d live view.
Ur right the other channels show their board and faces bigger than the actual board. I don't care about you people show the players playing.
Indeed
Sarin desperately played the final ... He will have to do the FINAL if he wants the throne ...! Finals ...!
Including a digital board is terrible.
Just set up the camera correctly so we can follow the board and then show the players playing!
Nunca foram ditas palavras mais sábias!
They played the endgame like engines until Nihal had to find the only move in time pressure. Well played boy!
That move was b6
@@mrbeanchess1439 It was b3*
Yeah right, b3 was the move ...
@@rachit6366 yaa that's what i mean hope you understand. I mention wrong number 🤣.
Sarin desperately played the final ... He will have to do the FINAL if he wants the throne ...! Finals ...!
Alireza’s endgame skills are reaching perfection. Sarin resisted well.
Oh God !! Nihal smiles at Alireza when he talks to him at the end of the game.. Nihal was sad for loosing, but he smiled .. All the best dear..
Nihal always look sad, even knowing that is a great player
Nihal is class person and player
I noticed that too. Nihal's a standup guy.
Very well played by both Nihal and Firouzja. Nihal don't feel disheartened, we are all with you. We will keep supporting you.
He is not going to see your message
@@joebobama1117 yes there is possibility he will watch this clip while preparing for claiming the crown from then World Champion Tigran L Petrosyan in Spain
@@joebobama1117 It doesn't matter. I just want to show my support for him.
@@joebobama1117 It never matters
From Brazil too, no worries nihal, you will get in there mate🙏
I like Alireza but it was sad to see Nihal lose
We will definitely see these two fighting for something big in the future.

Nop, alireza is next level.. indian one is good, but needs far more practice
I like the look of Nihal. Very innocent; and down-to-earth I should say. No sign of arrogance despite being so great at this age.
@@startupeco3138 how old is he?
@@tanjiroushirogane690 nihal is very hardworking but still he is not on the way to achieve success like alireza. I don't know what's the problem with new generation players. They have fluctuating elo after 2700.
They were rival but Alireza is on different level now🔥🔥🔥
Not for very long :)
Nihal will catch up soon.
@@sangeethks2011 big GMs couldn't catch up. Nihal needs a lot of time to get close, if he able
Alireza will be de future of chess very soon!
Well played Nihal.
AF is on another level of form now, you'll get him very soon. 🙌🏼
But, NIhal lost!
Thank you so much for these gems and for putting the digital board up aswell
One thing to notice, Nihal is not so comfortable with time pressure OTB compared to online. He's checking clock every few seconds which leads to further loss of time and concentration.
ruclips.net/video/1I610M1_suw/видео.html
Everyone checks the clock not just Nihal, and when playing online the clock is there right in front of them so no need to move your head anywhere
watch Nihal-Nepo 2019
Loved the end short conversation with smiles on the face. That’s so satisfying
8:37 It was at this moment Nihal finds out that Alireza is not falling for Kxf3?? Ng5+ . And It was very sad to see Nihal's face after white's move. I'm Iranian and of course a big fan of Alireza but I felt bad for Nihal. Thumbs up for Nihal from an Iranian fan.
Lol a 1300 would see that easily.nihal knew alireza isn't an idiot.
man I love you for these footage we cant see shit in official streams
Love this format. More of those please!
wonderful coverage thanks to all staff members
No matter what happens nihal always sets the board after the match ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️love it Nihal op Alireza Op for winning
Young kids usually do that when he gets older he wont do that anymore pretty sure
THIS IS THE MATCHUP WE ALL WANTED TO SEE!!
Thanks a lot for sharing!
they are both playing at a very high level .I hope at the end of day 2 we see them both at the top .❤️
The laugh at the end was amazing
Alireja has developed a good sportsmanship in these 2 years💛
True
Sarin desperately played the final ... He will have to do the FINAL if he wants the throne ...! Finals ...!
you mean when he wins? not hard to show good sportsmanship then.
@@IamJacksColon4 yeah, the real challenge is when he loses. No sportsmanship at that moment.
@@IamJacksColon4 Agreed.. He doesn't behave well when he's lost✅
Good job for the video! I love this channel
Love this channel, love this game …
Adding the engine bar would make it more perfect. The game was equal until Nihal made that wrong King move in the endgame. Just show the spectators how accurate they play by including the engine bar, because they literally played all the best moves.
Hey don't compare them firjouza is in another level the exchanges was done quite neatly . Well done firjouza . Time to improve nihal . The difference is 2 years but the game is 5 years to improve . Don't compare to firjouza to the king 👑 magnus
That's bull....nihal is better than alireza was two years ago. The challenge is to continue developing like alireza did in the last two years.... He was actually lucky he got invited to a lot of top level tournaments as everything was primarily online in that time...... At the end of the day nothing helps in improvement of young players like playing better players competitively
Virtuosity in endgame play had always been thé signature of thé greatest champions: Capablanca, Karpov, Carlsen and now Firoujza.
Alireza improvement has been marvelous
So many Indians who put their faith on nihal are in the comment section shouldn't be upset because alireza is obviously a much better chess player now and most of the chess fans believe he is the only one who can bring Carlsen down and alireza is a phenomenal player and nihal should work very hard to get to that level or even maybe never get there so we just have to wait to see what happens to these young chess generation
@@mahatmagandhi2434 well actually he is right behind Carlsen now so u better be worry about your fellow indian chess players and I believe your comment is more about jealousy than reality
Love that game !! Well played both.
Definitely hoping to see these two in some very big match fighting for the trophy . hard luck for nihal this time
7:47 was the move that cost him the game :(
Kc4? What other moves could he play?
@@SM7.. I parth is right Kc4 let the opponent's king in, could have played the knight to h7
@@SM7.. b3 was the move
@@SM7.. Engine suggested that b3 was the only move. He had stop the king from entering. It was tough to calculate everything in that time pressure. :(
He knew immediately that he messed up
Give Nihal a bit of time and he will be completely top level. His confidence is still not quite there and he is very aware of the opponent. He keeps glancing at Alireza. He also displays more doubt-mannerisms than Alireza (starting a move, then arresting his hand and touching head, then moving). His issue (if you can call it that) against super grandmasters is really not technical I think - he is already a chess machine. It seems more psychological (confidence, self-belief etc). One also sees it in interviews with him - he is reserved, extremely well-mannered, and very aware of other people's needs. Those are actually very strong and virtuous personality characteristics that say a lot of the quality home he is from. However, in a match all of that must be temporarily put aside at this high competitive level. Nihal has to completely own his war psychology during a game. There is no place for empathy or self-doubt (even in losing positions) until after the game is finished. Those are matters that can be overcome with the right kind of experience and guidance. I'm sure Vishy and other seniors will help him with that. I really think it will help him to have conversations about mental aspects with people outside of chess. I'm thinking people like MS Dohni, Saurav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, etc. They all understand competition as a war with rules.
I do foresee future world championship matches in whatever categories between these two mega players. Throw Pragg and Abdusattorov in the mix and it's going to be explosive.
no it was simply a matter of finding the only move in a low time, until then they both played like machines. all the talk of confidence etc is simply mindless assumption. the guy(sarin) has beaten magnus out of all the prodigies some months ago.
Very nicely written
Where can i buy the chess set like the one in this video?
i enjoy this endgame. can anyone tell me what book or articel i need to read to learn endgame chess?
Please upload vd and mvl as well
Where can I get the chess set used in this tournament?
It was sad to see Nihal loss🥲🥲
Anyways he was played good ...pro player Nihal ..❤️🥰
Well played Nihal!! 👏👏
Well played nihal.... India for sure has a bright future in you
Amazing players.. The future of chess...
In 2008 I was with an England Junior team that played in Dubai and I had the pleasure of coaching and playing some of the Indian juniors it was a great experience. Ravikumar who was then the National Coach of Dubai decided to move to England he came and lived with me for several months until his visa was sorted he now has his own chess company here. Indian chess with 67 GM's seems to be growing stronger every year and long may it continue. Thanks for the coverage it's excellent.
I know mr ravikumar when I was in dubai. He used to encourage young kids to play with me and gave trophies to me even if I didn't win tournament as a token of appreciation.😀 All the best to one of our first IMs.
who are you 🥴
What were they saying after the game?
His just capturing pieces to clear it out and make it easy
que persona tan agradable es Nihal Sarin ,siempre correcto y amable aun en la derrota.Gran jugador y gran persona
@9:05 why not Ne5 Check, forcing the Nxe5 then King captures on e5?
What happened to Babu Pragnananda? Is he playing in this tournament?
As a fan of Firouzja i say Nihal had a very great first day but both of them had a less successful 2nd day, Let's hope they will finish the 3th day on a much higher place. These two are worthy rivals for many years to come
nihal didn't have a great first day he choked a winning position and lost against alireza what's great about that 🥴
well played both
excellent play between the two lads. I'm sure Nihal knows he messed up. Should have been a draw. Shouldn't have allowed the strong outside passed pawn.
Nihal looked to be the one pushing for the win in that endgame, but to me it seemed like he pushed too hard going for that a pawn, what exactly was the losing move for Nihal?
Two future world champions? Quite possibly!
No need to compare Firouja to Magnus, their performances will do the talking. In the unlikely scenario that Alireza grabs the Rapid or Blitz championship, the conversation will change. However, Alireza is young and his growth was probably delayed by the cancellations of chess tournaments last year, would love to see him win the Candidates.
They played very well
Alirazor - shredding GM's like they 🧀🧀🧀
This loss is like a soilder coming from war dying to a mosquito bite
BRAVO congratulations 👌✌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
5.53 after f4 exf4 isn'it winning the Knight ald?
where is the comm...ian.?
Wait a sec did they both played so fast in the opening that they gained 11 & 14mins each? WOW and even increases to almost 17min lol
This is rapid game. They start with 15 minutes and get 10 seconds increment
Two beasts facing eachother , next level
Nihal looking at him like, Why Daddy, Why?
Good sportsmanship both young talent players.
This game was a draw but due to time pressure nihal wasnt able to find the only best ove in the position and he lost
lose is lose. dont blame to time
@@yoadpThe Only Reason Of Lost In Blitz Is time no Matter who the Player is
Good view Sagar bhai 👍
Where is praggnanda?
Nihal has some nerve of steel!
sarin please don't be sad you fought well , every one knows that Firouzja is monster
I like the tension for both. Nihal gave Alireza a big head ache here. Alireza is just the better man in the game.
7:54 why nihal didn't play king to b3 then knight to d3 by white then king to c2 and you win a pawn & open up the way for queen for black. Pls correct me if im missing something.
Because white donot need to play knight to d3 immediately, he will move kc4 forking the knight and the pawn and if the king takes the b2 pawn a knight check can take place forking the king and the pawn.
Two geniuses, at work
I love and admire both of them
Nihal looked devastated, but he applied pressure on world number 2. Flawless endgame by the Iranian prince.
french
@@arthurhumblot8839 Yes, on paper.
@@AmbitiousAkbar its what counts in all legal affairs, so, it is what it is, and he has maxime as training partner etc. Being in France is what made him rock solid and Brutal.
@@bradregan7889 That's one way of looking at it. The reality is sadly different.
Everyone one waiting for this 🔥🔥🔥
Such precise play by both under pressure. Nihal is soon going to win somthing big
move of the game for me was @6.03 with Kd2.... moving the King away from the kingside and f4 ... that's genius.
hi ..what was a game ?? so beautiful ..Nihal was so good ..but we must know that Alireza is a super GM in top 5 of world ..and is more than 2800 ..in this game we see a knight and pawns end game of him ..and how must a super GM can control the game and win .and ...cong..to Nihal because this aggressive game !!!!! ..thanks ..
beautiful pressure game
what went wrong?
Sarin looks very serious in his attitude
It's a joy to see Indians win but when it comes to Firouza or Hikaru... I don't care... It's really tough to choose another player over them... Who the opponent is... Good to see Nihal smiling after the loss.. he still has a long way to cover...
Firoujak keneke magnus e dile dekha palane? Life time monot rakhibo Alireja i
Nihal was sad, similar to what happened with Parham
Each time Nihal Sarin ( the little gentleman ) loses,it makes me sad! Although I am Iranian.🍀💚✊👏
vicious conquest
Nihal.done well, congrats.what made difference is experience.Next opportunity is yours, train better in pressure endgame.
Nihal face after the game made me really sad :( You will get your revenge soon Nihal!! 💪💪Love and Good wishes from Bangladesh ❤
ALPHAZERO VS STOCKFISH
Is king takes a6 the only bad move by nihal?
I definitely feel for nihal here. Firouzja shouting out support, esp from the heart to nihal. Played endgame well. Firouzja calculates quicker
I feel Nihal is not far behind Alireza and there is huge potential in the young man to draw level. Who knows he might experience the same run as Alireza soon. Nihal will be a giant killer with impeccable manners. A joy to watch.
nihal is far behind in ratings 🥴what you talking about he didn't perform well in blitz too🥴
Nihal will bounce back strong today both are op🔥🔥🔥
It was equal till nihal couldn't find the only move in Time pressure
This pair are my favourite chess players

Nodirbek Abdusattorov is also quite something! Just 17 and full of promise. - He beat Caruana yesterday!
