    When companies check your credit file they do not see your score, only the information on it. The credit score on your file is only an indication of what your score is. Companies will use they're own calculations to grant you credit or not.

    I took out a Barclaycard which should of come with the free Experian Credit Score feature but when I went to activate said feature I was later told by a Barclaycard email that Experian was unable to verify my identity. If that's the case then how come I managed to get a Barclaycard in the first place? Seems ridiculous. I really don't want to send out physical copies of things as (A) people rarely get paper bank statements (B) not everyone has a car with driving license (C) not everyone goes abroad to have a passport (D) not everyone has paper utility bills. Sooooo annoying!

    I am interested in working in finance industry in the future but I have a bad credit history. I know the bad credit will go against me and may prevent me from getting a job. But what if after 5 years you built your credit score. I mean will banks look into your bad credit history even if they are like 5-6 years ago?

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  7 лет назад

      Hi Luke, defaulted and closed accounts are kept on your credit report for six years from the date of the default, or when they were closed. After this time they come off automatically. So anyone searching your report would not see a record of these. While they are under six years old they would stay on the report. If you would like to check your Experian report you can find out more about the options available here www.experian.co.uk/consumer/which-product-is-right-for-me.html Kind regards Neil.

      considering you have had a really bad credit, I have 316 score how long should it take me to get it up to lets say 700 and above. would 2 years be attainable? my credit card was taken off from me and I may have few defaults in the past.

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  7 лет назад

      Hi Luke, your score is calculated from all of the information on your credit report so it would depend on what other information in on your report as to whether it would be possible. The defaulted accounts will come off the report after six years, and as long as there is no other late payments recorded then we would certainly expect your score to increase. Having active accounts that have been run well would also help your score. To find out more about improving scores see www.experian.co.uk/consumer/improve-credit-score.html kind regards Neil

    i didnt understand "keep your balances low".. if i have an overdraft limit.. does that mean i have to stay close to zero? when i listen to the credit score % calculation, i have better chance if i keep a lot by the end of a month cycle.. im confused. am i being encouraged to spend more but not exceed the limit to get more credit points?

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  7 лет назад

      Hi, keeping your balance low just means reducing the amount that you owe on your overdraft and credit cards as much as possible. If you have used most of the credit available to you lenders will be concerned that you are over-committed and will be less likely to offer you further credit. Kind regards Neil.

    How much does electrol thing give in credit score? I need 29 points to be in good which makes zero sense because i have 0 negatives and 3 positives. So i need to get into good fast

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  8 лет назад

      Hi Remy, as your Experian score is calculated from all the information on your report it is not possible to say how much your score will improve when you register. Registering is always a good idea though as lenders will often use the electoral roll to help confirm your ID as well as it helping your Experian Credit Score. You can find more about improving your score here www.experian.co.uk/consumer/improve-credit-score.html Kind regards Neil

      Thanks neil but no one can give me a distinct answer, even when I rang up today and asked why my standing is fair and not excellent when I have zero negatives to report, and im fully verified with all details.
      How much points do you gain a day? I need 29 to get into good, which I still believe is wrong and I should be in excellent.
      Why is my account in "fair" I just dont understand

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  8 лет назад

      Hi Remy, It does depend on what other information is also on your report. If you email your details (name, DOB and address) to uksocialsupport@experian.com we can take a closer look at your score for you. Kind regards Neil

    I have a “Defaulted/Ended” account on my report that reads...
    “Account Settled: 06/08/2014”
    It also states...
    “Last Updated: 20/09/2015”
    Does that mean the defaulted account will disappear from my credit report in August 2020 or September 2021?
    Would appreciate any advice.

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  6 лет назад

      Hi Colin it's 6 years from the date of closure be that by default or settlement not the last updated date.
      So from what you've said it will no longer be on your report from 07/08/2018
      Joe

      Thanks for the reply, Joe!
      The account was settled in 2014, so wouldn’t that then mean it’ll be 2020 before it comes off my report, as opposed to 2018?

    No such thing as a "credit score" and you know it.

    • @ExperianUK
      @ExperianUK  8 лет назад

      Hi, your Experian Credit Score is designed to give you an idea of how lenders may assess how you are doing financially, and is a guideline only. We work closely with UK lenders and have created the Experian credit score based on our detailed knowledge of how they create their own scores, so that the score we give you can be used as a benchmark. Kind regards Neil.

    • @sandgrownmanc6614
      @sandgrownmanc6614 8 лет назад +2

      Yes, it is just your score that lenders don't see that you SELL and is pointless. Yet at every turn you people make out it is something we all have and is DISGUSTING.
      No credit score exists, the end. If only every human knew, you wouldn't like that as you charge way too much money for people to access data such as that which isn't worth wiping one's ass on.
      Why don't you make it clear on your website that it just your own number?? Don't answer, we know.
