A great way I’ve got my score up in the past few years is PayPal pay In 3. I had an awful score and am nearing a perfect score pretty much solely from using this on a monthly basis. Couldn’t get a credit card originally and worked whilst my score was really low (not sure how PayPal are with new users though, I’ve been a PayPal customer for a long time.) it’s been super handy though has been a bit of a hit and miss as occasionally it dips the score by a small amount but goes up, watching this video makes it all make a lot more sense though!
Mine has improved slightly using this method ots the only reason i do it. I do it once maybe in a 6 month period not sure if i do more will i be able to a higher score.
I would say I don’t know how I find you on RUclips, but I know better. My husband and I have been in prayer so that we get our credit scores up and our credit record in great shape so that we can purchase our forever home. It was no one but God that led me to *Web backdoors🕳️org* . I thank God for this wisdom. Bless you.
Looking forward to some good insider tips rather than the usual stuff about utilisation, searches and length of credit that you hear every other RUclipsr regurgitate
They set up these credit score rules to make people fail. How is it fair that you suffer because of inaccurate records that someone ELSE is keeping. Not just annoying; it is plain WRONG!
It's really a social credit score. They want you to borrow money to be able to borrow more money. They want to trap you paying them interested forever by giving you a high score.
And it's especially annoying when the company you are paying bills to won't listen to you and gets you in trouble for their mistakes. Every month without fail, I had to ask Three mobile to charge me on the same day I got paid. They told me they changed the payment date for it and every month without fail, they would charge me a couple of days before and complain that my balance was too low, and then my score would drop because they messed up. So my score was being wrecked for something that wasn't even my fault!
Paying bills on time: EDF invoice me and then claim I'm "overdue" after 14 days. Requested confirmation of this from Ts & C's and their legal section, with deafening silence - impacting my score. Lesson: never ever use EDF....
Look at the USA debt 💸 this is different,I never bought anything in credit, only save and buy ,and guess what ? My credit history is not exist ,I can’t get even 650£ debt in my Barclays what I use for 10 years, that’s why you need to make your credit HISTORY to make it visible for them that you takes money and pays them in time
Andy, this video is simply pure gold! I’m trying to build a good credit history as I’d like to get a house in a relatively short time. I have a combined credit limit of roughly £5k and I was wondering wether I should increase my credit limit to show lenders that they could give me more money when it’s time to purchase a house.
So glad it's been helpful. I don't think a higher credit limit will make much difference, unless you think it'll help reduce your credit utilisation rate
It doesn’t work in your favour if you have a high percent of available credit you’re not using and you try and get more. I have decreased my credit limit on my credit card as I don’t use most of it.
from what I can tell if you're disabled your credit score doesn't matter, if you have 999 credit score no one will care if you're unemployed you get rejected for everything
As always, valuable suggestions, which is more doable. Having access to excessive credit cards amount (let's say got 3 credit cards, spending hasn't increased) overall spending percentage dips. Is it advisable to reduce credit limit among them rather canceling (if still using those credit cards) OR not much worth reducing credit limit? Would like to see your take on it. Thanking you in advance 🙏
Sick of my credit score going up and down. I've cancelled two of my four credit cards as they said i wasn't utilizing much credit. I have a decent amount of savings and pay off any credit pretty quickly. So, I say sod em and dont worry about it anymore.
Hi Andy! I was turned down for finance via Barclay's and amazon even though I have an excellent score at the moment. Also I was wondering how to add new bank accounts onto my Experian account and how do Experian find my utilities bills etc as I always pay on time via direct debit. Many thanks Andy.
Hi, really enjoyed the interesting video. Thank you! One question… Some of the service providers are on subscription basis, is there a effect on credit score or have to make them as direct debits for a better effect?
I’m getting a credit card soon to use for general daily expenses for the sake of racking up membership points. My partner will be given a supplementary card so that he can also help with racking up the points. I know for sure that we are both financially disciplined and will be able to pay off the monthly repayments on our credit and purchases. If we almost max out our credit, will our credit score drop, despite paying the credit card off every month without any default? If so, is it worth increasing the credit limit just so our credit utilisation will be at around 30%?
very informative video Andy. Thank you ever so much. I have 2 questions however, There are some unrecognised checks appearing on my experian account and you mentioned that there are Hard Checks and Soft Checks, so my question 1 is how do I know which is hard check and which is soft check? in other words, I understand that Hard Checks are visible to the other potential lenders and Soft Checks are only visible to me, but How do I know which check is visible to the other potential lenders and which check doesnt? Question 2, Is it ok companies to just randomly check your credit score even soft and is it worth calling them and to say leave me alone? :) I would be grateful to get an answer either from you or someone who can answer it for me but if not still grateful for the information I got from the video.
Andy, 1. is opening Credit Card is mandatory to improve credit report ? 2. Does standing order from bank will also improve credit report (where one of the tenant agent doesn't have Direct Debt feature)
Hay Andy, I've just discovered your channel and have been watching a number of your vids as they're good content. Question for you: does having more current accounts bolster your score or is it neutral? I've had my main account for over 15 years and am certainly not getting shot of that, but I do have another account that was set up about 7 years ago but that I've not used for 3 years. Would it be a good idea to use this as "dummy" from which to benefit from a switch or would I be best off leaving it open given the time I've had it? Thanks.
Did all those things, except for switched to Starling a few months back, now being penalised as I have not had my current account for that long, thats the penalty you pay when dumping a bad bank. Any advice on getting around this?
I done all of these things and my credit score has got to a good level but stopped and has stayed the same for a while now, what more can I do to improve it?
CREDIT UTILISATION: Let's say I have a £10k credit limit and borrow £5k. As you say, that's 50% credit utilisation. BUT suppose I then pay off the £5k by the due date and leave a zero balance on my account. Does that help or hinder?
I found this video too late, my bank sold me to the idea of a better credit card than the one I had and without knowing the impact I ask to close my previous long timer card ...I wish they and told the consequence...it ruined my credit 😒
What about if you change your name? I've changed my name and ended up with two credit scores. The older one had a dro, the new one has a lower score. I am self employed so which accounts are best to open in relation to my CS?
Questions for point number 2: Does that mean direct debit payments like Spotify, the gym or even an your own ISA are checked for if you pay in full on time? So missing one of these payments may affect your credit score? Point 4: For consistency - making a social media account or a new account with a shopping website, my email, number and address stays the same but sometimes i use my nickname or first letter of my name to protect some of my privacy.. will that affect my score? Or does this only apply to identity specific records like university and job applications?
Andy, I wonder if you can explain how the credit searches. This site shows you all 3 agencies, my questions are: 1) I have noticed 4 soft searches on my file against my name for my previous address which I am not aware of at different times over the last two years, I raised a query with check my file (I have free 30 trial), they said I need to contact the companies directly which I will do, I am wondering if searches are or can be linked to previous address ? 2) the reason I ask is I have not applied for a new credit card with a certain lender this month but my partner has (we both live at the same address), this has now popped up as a soft search - do the agencies search the address, and or anyone ever linked to that address should this be anything to worry about?
I’m a 18 yearold with a first propper bank I have registered to vote i literally have no credit score how do I build this asap so I can buy a phone on credit and get a credit card how many points do I need
So I have a shared account with my husband. And all our bills are on both of our names . But he has an amazing credit score and it is not that I have bad score but the app can't even find me in the system and see my score.Which means the system can't see me as a partner in payments all do I pay more then he does 🙈I'm quite angry and up set. Now I have probably a score like a 14 years old who never owned anything yet What's that and what do I do ?I'm desperate to have a purchase credit card and balance credit card 🙈
I have never had a credit card before and I only need one to get a good credit score by the end of the next year. From my understanding from this video, I need to use under 30% of my limit and pay in full as soon as possible. Is there any card that doesn't charge me any rate if I repay it immediately? Sorry if my question sounds stupid, but I am a newbie.
And you will be charged interest on not paying off the full balance. This is where the CC companies make their money and this is where customers get into trouble. So pay a card off IN FULL AND ON TIME to avoid charges.
Recently moved to the UK and opened a current account. As I am not an UK citizen I am not eligible to vote. You mentioned in 1:15 that I can get this added to my credit file, how can I do this with TransUnion? They keep saying that they can't verify my identity. Should I just email them, or is there a better procedure to get my credit score/report updated/created?
ClearScore (Equifax) is more accurate than CreditKarma (TransUnion), but still better than the useless Experian. I hate having to use q credit score as it feels it controls what I do and have to also keep a credit card. :-/
Hi Andy… Can we apply to The other Credit score agencies to find out our credit score. Went to SCS Sofa’s… The sales guy didn’t notify me which credit agency has rejected us buying the sofa. Please help… Me and my wife are always on time paying all our bills. I can’t still believe we have been declined.
Sadly not, it'll be based on the lender the sofa company uses (rather than the sales man himself). I'd check all three reports though to make sure there's not a glaring error on one which could be the reason.
Can you use the credit card? For direct debit for bills? And from debit card to have set up direct debit to the credit card? This will help or can be bad? This will help to boost faster the credit score? Or can have a bad impact? Thanks
So I had been using klarna a lot last year and early this year. There were a few payments I didn't make on time and I've noticed my credit score has dropped. I don't know if it was klarna or something else that caused this but it most likely does affect your credit score like it would loaning or financing anything else.
@kerr4926 Yep, buy now day later providers like Klarna are dangerous. If you miss payments. In the future, just use traditional credit cards with a long interest-free period. But, keep your spending in check. By not regularly going above the 25% threshold. It shows to these credit rating agency's your too dependent on credit.
The unused credit limit will factor into the overall credit utilisation, so it could help your score. Or it could be lenders think you have access to too much credit and hurt your score!
Don't waste your time opening an account with Experian. They'll do nothing for you rather proving inaccurate information about your credit which I assume they also send to the lenders.
Hi thank you for the video, for lowering credit utilisation. Is it possible to apply for another credit card and spread across evenly on the spending resulting in the lower credit utilisation to 20%?
I’m not sure if you addressed this or not. however I wanted to ask is it advisable to get a credit card with the same bank that you have your current account? Or is it advisable to get a credit card with another bank? Also, how much is a good balance to apply for & how much to use monthly to improve credit to get a mortgage? Thank you in advance
These do not matter at all. It does not play any role in improving your score or increase your afordibiity. What type of credit card you hold, which bank is it with and how much the limit is does not matter, As long as you MANAGE it well and pay off the full balance each month. I am speaking from a place of experience. I used to have more than 5 credit cards and credit limit of over £20k. I was trying to pay off my debt for over 10 years and have read every trick and tip thats out there. So just apply for any credit card with any bank as long as the interest rate is low. Each month pay off the FULL BALANCE or At least minimum payment and you shall see increase in your credit score.
@@massurname7940 Thank you for taking the time to reply & to give me a detailed breakdown. It is much appreciated, I will aim to implement your tips when I do get a credit card & hopefully my credit score will increase. Thanks again
Can I just ask if you apply for a credit card and start paying the balance off In full every month how long does it take for yiur score to improve mines stayed the same for months

I have £39000.00 of available credit across my 6 credit cards. My credit score is excellent ( 976) on CreditExpert. I spend on 1 main card monthly and pay it down in full. Any card that gets spent on will get paid in full when the statement arrives. So too much available credit is a bit of a myth.
i really need some help here im at the end of my witts, i opened a loqbox account and paid the whole year on time, and never missed a payment, when the year was over instead of getting a promised increase they take 89 points away from me and im baffled as to why and they dont want to give me a reason why, i understand it isnt your place to give advice but if anyone could shed some light on this matter id be very greatfull, its got me so depressed to the point im questioning why im even bothering to increase my score anymore
@@davierae1690 it's still down but I have learned that the score is only for you. Lenders don't look at your score they only look at your borrowing history to determine wether or not you are reliable. To pay it back. Apparently your score Always goes down when taking credit and will go up over time. But I'm yet to see an increase
I have just moved out from my parents house. I have one bank account registered at my old address and one registered at my new address. My credit rating is terrible at my new address but great at my parents house thoughts?
You shouldn't have different credit scores based on your address... do you mean it dropped a lot when you moved? A few things could be making an impact. One, did you have to get new bills sorted? Things like energy and insurance direct debits will have required hard credit checks, which will knock your rating. You'll also need to change all the old addresses to the new one, otherwise the inconsistency will hurt your score
@@BeCleverWithYourCash So at my old address the eligibility checkers are saying I'm 8 out of 10. At my new address is giving me a 2 out of 10. Yes, lots of direct debits and one bad debt at the new address and only a 20 year old bank account at the old address. Should I use my old address to secure credit cards etc?
I have been trying to find a way to get a late payment removed from my credit file, there are loads of US videos about this but nothing from this country. Please can you advise? Thanks
Hi Andy thanks for your video, very useful infos. My situation is that just because I have opened a new insurance account my Experian credit score dropped by 50 points! How insane is that? I can’t believe that. I really want to recover it a bit and I have a Barclaycard which honestly I have never used before. I have one question, if I pay the Barclaycard statement in full right by the due date will it help to increase my credit score? Is it something that will drop my score even further at the beginning and then bring it back up though? Thanks in advance!
Hi, my Experian credit score is at 851 and I don't have a credit card but want to get one, Do I have to only look at credit cards for building credit or can I look at others as well
I have a credit card with £2000 limit and was told to only use £100 every month to keep my credit score healthy! What the hell? Does not make any sense. I pay it off in full every month so it shouldn't matter. I don't even need a credit card and only have one to raise my credit score after I purchased a house! Stupid rules.
Hi Andy, This might be a naive question, but I would like to know if fully paying off something could affect the buying protection you get from using a credit card. For example, say I paid for flights (not a package holiday) for a trip in a few months. I paid using a credit card and can pay it off now. However, I want to make sure I can charge back the flight money should covid restrictions prevent me from going and the Non-EU/UK airline takes the piss with a refund. Will fully paying off the flights now limit the buying protection I have? Thank you.
Hi Kyle. The short answer is no. Any purchase made on your credit card is protected under the Consumer Credit Act. It does not matter if the purchase is paid off or not. That is the main reason for having a credit card . It protects you from bad retailers.
I used to keep changing address all the time, i hate staying in one place, and i used to change the electoral register each time i move because i heard being registered to vote is a good thing, i checked my credit score and the length of time on electoral register resets everytime you move, i never realised this before, i thought it stacked up :(
U can not fix your credit report it’s a load of bullshit, I missed out one payment of a bill over 20 years ago & I am still black listed it’s a load of bollocks
How about using your credit as your daily spend method? I use my credit card as my monthly spend budget but pay it off at the end of every month in full. Can doing this negatively impact my credit score in the long run? I’ve been doing this for 5mth now and my score has gone up across all 3 CRA but will it impact my score over a longer period of time?
My husband opened 3 current accounts in short space of time we didn't know a hard search would be made by the banks. Next month it will be a year since he opened the accounts and I've heard equifax remove hard searches after a year. But transunion after 2 years. Were both planning to apply for mortgage will we be rejected because of hard search
Andy is not like other RUclipsrs. He is awesome.

Some of the service providers are on subscription basis, is there a effect on credit score or have to make them as direct debits for a better effect?
Generally speaking, subscriptions (like netflix, Spotify) don't affect credit at all and are different from direct debits (water, gas, etc.)

Is there any card that doesn't charge me any rate if I repay it immediately? Sorry if my question sounds stupid, but I am a newbie.
You only get charged interest if you miss your payment due date.

Thanks
Hi Andy, how does Karlna and overdraft affect your credit score? How much effect will it have on your mortgage application?
So I had been using klarna a lot last year and early this year. There were a few payments I didn't make on time and I've noticed my credit score has dropped. I don't know if it was klarna or something else that caused this but it most likely does affect your credit score like it would loaning or financing anything else.
@kerr4926 Yep, buy now day later providers like Klarna are dangerous. If you miss payments. In the future, just use traditional credit cards with a long interest-free period.
But, keep your spending in check. By not regularly going above the 25% threshold. It shows to these credit rating agency's your too dependent on credit.
Your paintings are wonky mate

What do you consider to be a good score?
What happens if you have a credit card and it's never used
The unused credit limit will factor into the overall credit utilisation, so it could help your score. Or it could be lenders think you have access to too much credit and hurt your score!
@@BeCleverWithYourCash I am glad I don't have a card
That's wat I want
Don't waste your time opening an account with Experian. They'll do nothing for you rather proving inaccurate information about your credit which I assume they also send to the lenders.

Credit utilisation should be strictly less than 25% in all cards. Otherwise experian will drop score to
If you allow, credit score controls and dictates how you live your life. Don't fall into that trap.

What is too much of large amount of credite available ?

I’m glad I read this comment this morning. Was just about to open. Low box account. Your comment was 6 months ago, how are you getting on now Adam?
@@BeCleverWithYourCash
So at my old address the eligibility checkers are saying I'm 8 out of 10.

Hi, my Experian credit score is at 851 and I don't have a credit card but want to get one, Do I have to only look at credit cards for building credit or can I look at others as well
No need to build, your score is decent
@@jacintofernandes2907 thanks. I already got a credit builder's card but that's fine
Yeah, that's quite low. You could afford to spend more on it each month, up to £400 or £500 to stay under 25% utilisation. But only if you need to!
Hi Andy,
This might be a naive question, but I would like to know if fully paying off something could affect the buying protection you get from using a credit card.
@@monk3yboy69 Thank you for clarifying this for me.

Hi so if u yes 30 dollars on ur credit card, n pay the 30 dollars right back, does that help your score?
It does and you won't be penalized.

That's incorrect as it would only show on your credit report for 6 years, after this time, there's no record of the missed payment.
