I think if the deers with bones, seeming to represent “death”, were actually living deers like Joe and once they died, and they morphed into their current appearance, it would make sense that Joe is a normal deer rn and once he “dies” he would have the magical appearance the other deers have. This is rly cool
I like that each of the pairs seem to be the life & death that comes with each season. Especially the detail of the autumn death having arrows sticking into them.

Considering the average lifespan of a buck, I’d say either Joe IS magical, or some of that summer magic is rubbing off on Joe.
