Despite warnings from TAP I just repaired the gas tank on my 01 YZ 250. There were two hairline cracks on the tank where the shrouds go. Buying a new tank at $300+ was not an option. I watched this video 5 times and read the instructions while on the pot. I will post back after i do some testing. i.e letting the tank sit with some gas in it for a few days. Hope it works

TAP Plastics Poly-Weld should do the trick. However, always test first. Royalex is ABS, not polyethylene. Therefore, flame treatment is probably not recommended. Sand the area and clean it with denatured alcohol prior to gluing.

A heat gun will not work. It is not the heat that changes the polyethylene. It is the chemical reaction happening in that particular part of the flame as it interacts with the plastic that makes the polyethylene able to be glued.

could you use a heat gun instead of a torch to heat treat the polyethylene?

This might sound funny, but would this work for fixing the worn out bottom on a "royalex" whitewater canoe?...
I have some holes worn through, down to the foam core...and I need to "bridge" the foam with a royalex type material. It doesn't necessarily need to stick to the foam core, but it "does" need to stick well, to the outer royalex hull plastic.
This looks like it could be just the ticket...as long as it would stick...
Please reply, if you could help me with any advice...thanks much!

I have a kayak with a rear skid plate almost worn through from lots of lauches and landings on gravel and sand. Can I use this adhesive as buildup material alone, or should I bond poly sheet to get the thickness?

Has anyone tried to repair a green house built with polyethyline plastic with TAP Poly weld adhesive? I am not sure about using the flame treatment on soft plolyethyline? any commetns or suggestions

The adhesive will not wear as well at the polyethylene. It's better to put a fresh piece on the kayak.
