dude... i've had nights like in this video. It's impossible to describe the feeling when you're the only one experiencing this kind of magic in the middle of nowhere with no one around but your best friends high and drunk as fuck, happening to carry their instruments around. 11/10 would recommend again

Love it! With love from southern Michigan! My buddy Brock use to ride the tracks for a few years, they were running from the R&R Bull, they ran through the street and Brock got hit by a car going 50mph. He got fucked up bad but as soon as he got all cast up and a bottle of goodies with refills, he hopped freight to Arizona to stay with some family members till he was better. The stories that he tells me are awesome but some are just heartbreaking. He's back home here in Niles MI cuz he got custody of his daughter so needless to say, he doesn't ride the tracks anymore! Im sending good vibes to everyone who's out there on the tracks, live free, stay safe and healthy dudes & dudetts!
Jolie Holland based the song strongly on the traditional/gospel "Old Time Religion", basically giving it new lyrics. Among those who recorded the older version are Blind Willie McTell, Johnny Cash, Jackie Wilson, Big Maybelle, Merle Haggard, Woody Guthrie, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mahalia Jackson, Alberta Hunter, Blind Boys of Alabama ... the kids are utterly amazing, but its kind of difficult to talk about Original on a traditional. (Even so Jolie penned new lyrics).
this song is amazing. not often that a cover is better than the original, and this cover is 100x better. sarah's voice is phenomenal. who is she? i must know. i am craving more of her material.
Zoka Really really amazing. Obviously you put your talent and knowledge, your love for adventure and all those talented musician and in a return hundreds of thousands people who are going to be your huge fan
I'm not sure if I'm being bias or not but I watched this video first then checked out the original song and I like this one better. Good job girls, and these videos you keep putting out Zoran are great I'd like to see more. If you guys are ever passing through Winnipeg hit me up I'll help out where I can. P.S someone say hi to Doug in T.O for me.

love this song. This nihilistic way of thinking is what lead me to lead a teenage life like that of live fast rebel. I’ll do well to remember that as I continue to ace college, because in the end it’s like they say the worlds almost done and I’m not doing this to do what I can rather to do what I want which is cultivate my food and medicine and take me some of the o’l fashioned LSD.
I want this, in This OG context/concerted-effort, to be played exactly as it is here/hear, as I am being memorialized at the moment of my burial. Thank you! Looks like you shoot yourself, I also ask other people similar questions so for good karma of all of us I am going to tell you everything that there is to it. For video: prosumer level Canon HD camera, Canon DSLR and GoPro (all depending on situation; GoPro was not used in this video). Regarding sound: this was live recording I was not prepared for and didn't know it would happen, so sound was picked with what I always have on me: Sennheiser shotgun mounted on camera and Sennheiser wireless. To tell you the truth, I was panicky because I was sure that neither of these mics will pick up singing properly, but Sarah has such a unique voice that she would probably sound great even if you record her with a cell-phone. As for the devil with violin, Lisa: I knew she would sound good because I recorded her before. The biggest problem was in limited choices of camera angles since my main highly directonal mic was on the camera and changing angles too much could completely ruin audio. For lights I had cheap on-camera LED light and 30 dollar LED bar from hardware store (I just put it on the ground). I was very impressed by these four musicians and hopefully the video does some justice to them. Thanks again!
The craziest part is that these people probably walk around getting judged every single day by old people because of how they look, but they get down with folk skill better than probably anybody those old people have ever met.

Hi! They were friends jamming in the park, not a band. Lisa, the fiddle player, is in a duo called Mama's Broke, and they are very active, with a sizable body of followers. You can find out more at mamasbroke.bandcamp.com/ and at their website mamasbroke.ca
I really don't know, I only now about Lisa's activities. If mama's Broke is ever in your city, and that might happen because they tour a lot, go and see the show. You will not regret it. :)
This is difficult. I'm from Germany. I hope many DIY artists visit us here, but I thinks it's expensive and difficult for artists without a fu...ing Major Deal to visit Europe.
When it comes to Mama's Broke, just contact them and ask if they are planning to come to Germany. They actually played in Europe so many times. They are also passionate travelers and they don't wait for some major deal to tour the world. If you are in touch with them, I am sure sooner or later they will play in Germany. I hope it all works out for you and for them. German audience is very special and they know that. These girls are extremely talented and committed to their music. I bet you will watch them right there, in Germany. All the best!
