I never imagined that a Lou Reed song could sound so good! …Standing Ovation!!
she embodies sunshine & wild flowers
Matthew McDermit not the song, the young lady.
Matthew McDermit I agree I hated that music/lyrics back in the 60s and 70s when it was used to destroy from with in. I just look at the girl her talent and what a class act she may become is she leaves that behind. Most of us do with age. I can't see the make up of the folks she's playing to but it could influence what she performs with. Alison Krause's wobbles my knees and curl's my toes. In time she might but not yet😋
Matthew McDermit peace be with you and your loved ones.

We all miss those kind of moments. Blue sky, fresh air, sweet wong, nice people, good beer in a field with a sweet wind carressing our faces. God damn. I'm behind my desk in Belgium... at work... reallity is a hard shit to deal with...

Well hello my friend
Me too absolute beauty
Oh man, this remembers me of the summer of 2019. I was 18 years old, solo backpacking in central europe for 3 weeks. I visited Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava and Zagreb. Every day was an adventure... different cultures, new experiences, good food, good beer, hot sun, always great people and my first summer romance. That was freedom. That was life.
We should not forget to keep living.
That must have been a beautiful experience, one for a lifetime.
:)
@@muniyatelahi2190 oh yes, definitely. I hope to travel again soon :)
@@KalosAgathon good luck with that! Tell us all about it in a travel book if you ever get around writing one. ☺
Dude! You made me remember my experience during the summer of 2018. I had the chance and privilege to do a 4-week intensive German course in Berlin. Best month of my life so far. I can totally relate with the "everyday was an adventure" line, it truly was. New experiences, new culture, new people, good beer by the river at sunset... and I was totally living in the present, everyday. Not even planning for the next few days, nothing. It's a crazy feeling, and so amazing... Beautiful memories. Indeed, that was freedom, that was life!
It's nice to read someone that has felt something similar than you. Thanks for your comment!
@@RodHammett95 living in the present and adventure... yes!
I think that’s an important lesson from travelling. One should try to be a little more adventurous and try to live in the present at home, too.
For me it helps to do long walks and self talks to remind me of that. And of course listening to this song :)
I love her energy at 2:50 and how she laughs and compliments the people shes singing too. What a treasure. Just found her music, but i literally love 90% of all her songs
Check out Strongboi - Strongboi. It's also her and it is realllly gooood. You have link in description.
@@petar1008 wow she is soo different there. Shes even rapping. What a cool song. I love her dancing hahaha

As a lover of the original Lou reed version, I have to admit this is an amazing cover.
This is the best cover i've ever heard of this song
Yea
I side wildly to that
I’m not loving it. It’s interesting that other people who like the original, do like it though. Her voice is great, I’ll say that. But I always thought Lou Reed’s songs suited his voice. They were uneasy tales told from the edge of life. And Lou’s voice, low and deep, slightly off key and peculiar timing, was the kind of voice you’d imagine to be telling these stories. Angelic voices don’t pair well with the song’s story. I think other poet musicians: Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Gareth Liddiard, they are similar. It makes the songs hard to cover. You can’t just grab a guitar & start singing.
But that’s just my opinion. I’m a massive Lou Reed fan so maybe I just can’t accept cover versions.
Why does that mean you have to admit it..?
"Sugar Plum Fairy came and hit the streets-THANK-YOU"
It seems to me that the lyrics have changed forever
Damn, I've been wasting my life not knowing this woman exists.
So you are like 5, 6 years old? She only started like a few years back haha.

She went to my school (Abbott's College Cape Town) and was taught by my drama teacher- I am so proud to see where she is now, always knew she would be famous one day.

This is the most beautiful thing RUclips has presented me with thus far.
the busting into laughter at the end is so adorable
Totally agree!!!!! ❤️
Yes indeed!. She is genuinely cute, and i really love that she does'nt use massive amounts of makeup, or even use makeup to cover those small cute eyebags/puffy eyes :D.. Gives her a genuinely Human and slightly worn/tired look. Love it

If I was Lou Reed ghost I would cry, a lot. Because nothing is better than seeing a young person showing thanks to legacy you gave them.
@Michael
That is lovingly expressed. I feel Lou is very happy every time one of us sees this and discovers he lives on.

The first time I saw this video, years ago, it changed me as a person. This performance sounds like how I’d imagine sunshine sounds.
She has so much light inside her, she's a sun. Looks like a child with and old soul. Nice light and framing in the video to appreciate her, thanks for showing us.

I have seen her live twice in the last 2 years. Since she plays in small venue's, and are the best performances I been at.

Now finally in 2024 we are all living this song. 😢

This is a song about decadence and depravity in the darker corners of the city. Originally sung by a dark-haired man dressed in black, wearing sunglasses, probably in some darkened club.
But here, this sweet young blonde takes it out into the sunlight of a clear day, surrounded by blue skies and cotton clouds, and gives us a bright and almost "cheerful" version of the same song. A truly wonderful version!
Lou the master of beauiful dark songs .... this song does need the edge tho ... perfect day perhaps for her ... or something of coney island baby ..
@Lill Frigg having a bad day eh?

If you thinking taking a walk on the wild side is decadence and depravity then you wasted a life.
pumpupthevolume little James never once gave it away!
She has such a lovely laugh, the song is wonderful but the laughing is what made me smile. What a sweet girl.
The strength, character, and soulfulness of her voice at 3 minutes and 17 seconds is mindbendingly beautiful. She owns the song !
Alice is the most beautiful creature. Your smiles braught little tears of joy to my eyes.
She could bring tears to the eye of a storm
I'm not really a big fan of covers, but this one is gold.
Not being a fan of covers -- does that translate to not needing much change and excitement in your life? (Genuinely curious. ;)
@@mkteku The songs covered typically are the ones that don't need improvement. That's probably why.
@@Dwazedas , covering a song is not about improvement, not really, in my book. More so about interpretation. Re-interpretation. Especially enjoyable when someone who we love reinterprets a song we love, is it not?
Also, there is the "got used to (a version)" thing, so when we hear a new version it is literally foreign -- and what do we do with/to foreign, unknown things? We fear them in some form or other, don't we?
I'd also love it if more artist would do random new versions of their own songs once in a while. Rewrite a part here, add an instrument there, etc.... =D da fu*k not?
(Got reminded of this Lincoln quote too, in the process: "I don't like that man. I need to get to know him better.")
@@mkteku That's not how the average human brain functions: People will choose a song based on recognition, because they are naturally attracted to the least challenging option. Lou Reed's "Walk on the wild side" is a song that you can't "improve" on: You can't "dumb it down" any further.
@@Dwazedas, with a username like yours, why are you talking about average brains? =D
