  • It was 1984 when Bob Geldof after seeing a BBC report about a horrible famine in Ethiopia that killed hundreds of thousands of people he decided, along with his partner, musician Midge Ure, created a charity Christmas single together named "Do They Know It's Christmas? "featuring Phil Collins, U2, and Duran Duran along with many other artists, but the proceeds were not enough for the region's plight, with the crisis continuing in Ethiopia and neighboring Sudan also affected by famine, Geldof proposed live aid, marking the beginning of his most memorable project, an ambitious global charity concert aimed at raising more funds and awareness of the plight of many Africans, and changing with music, the fate of a vital part of our world.

Love that that Boy George was the first to suggest a Band Aid concert and yet ultimately didn't play (he was billed to make a guest appearance in Philadelphia) and went on to become one of the charity's biggest critics.

You forgot to mention Alison Moyet dueted with Paul Young, and that both Kiki Dee and George Michael dueted with Elton John.

Ugh … the “return” of Queen. That’s one of the parts of the Queen movie that mixed around with time and events. Queen were actually just on tour before Live Aid, the band never broke up, Freddie didn’t tell the band before the show that he had HIV. Overall good video but don’t take any movie at face value, especially that one.

They moved the USA concert to Philadelphia because initially the New York unions demanded that anyone working at the concert be paid. When they backed down and a venue was confirmed the basket ball team who owned it demanded that their star players be the on stage compares.
The producers thought sod this, approached the mayor of Philadelphia and the rest is history.

    Honestly.
To me, they should make another Live Aid fest, but this time, to donate for the Israeli and Palestinian victims of the Gaza war that's still happening recently.
    What do you think?
