I ran into that issue as well. I'm going to do a magic circle, ch4 and follow the rest of the directions. I can never get the circles closed when I start with chain stitches.

@@krista6161 hi, I would recommend to count the magic circle as the first stich. So it would be like mg+ch1+ch2+ch3=4ch. I think it helps to follow the video better. If your way worked too though, I'd also like to know!

@@ariagiali5018hi, I did the magic circle and it worked great. So I did mc and ch 4. Which counted as one of my DC. I do have a question when you get to the last stitch of the heart on any round after the first one how do you end it, just tie it off? That's where I'm stuck.

    • @ariagiali5018

@@krista6161 yes you can just tie it off and it's going to be ok, but just to be sure, before I tie it off I also ch1. It messes up the shape just a little bit at the moment because it makes it less sharp, but I fix it when I hide the ends afterwards by pulling that end a bit more. I don't know if that makes sense.

After your last row continue doing sc around- if you want it to close then you will need to decrease to close. Hope this helps 🥰

What would the formula be if you wanted to increase the size of your heart by 1,2,3 etc rows or more?
I love this tutorial, as a not so new beginner, I found this easy to follow along, but am unsure how to keep going. I’ll be using cotton & wanting to make them into pot holders. Thank you!

Since your new to crochet I would use a bigger hook than your cotton yarn calls for - like a 6.5 and then I would put an edging around it. I also have another video for a heart with tassels and you could just keep the tassels off. Hope this helps ❤️

You can't just double crochet around until you reach the desired size. If you want a bigger heart, you must follow the tutorial as is and check your work. Keep in mind that the more stitches you have, the bigger the heart.
