Around the same time he married the Effervescent Joyous Geeta Bali. A Reigning Female Superstar while he was still struggling to establish himself. Were the pressures and insecurity too much for him? How did he cope with them?

Ever since I was a young boy in Tanzania,
Shammi Kapoor was my favourite & hero.
Used to watch all his films.
Learned to walk like him
Talk like him, Dressed like him.
Most of all, kept my hair like him.
My barber (Hajam) nicknamed me SKP.
Everyone called me SKP.
I was happy go lucky, always singing his songs and his 'nakhras'.
Studying, playing every kind of sports.
But my passion was music and films.
Especially Shammi Kapoor films.
Started playing drums in a band!
Then came Teesri Manzil - Wow!
Saw it more than a dozen times.
Learned all the dialogues and songs!
My favourite film of all time
(Rajkumar came a close 2nd)
My barber started calling me Sona.
And that became my nickname!!
Sona re Sona re....
Left East Africa in 1971 for further studies in the UK - Scotland.
After that lost touch with Hindi films and Shammi Kapoor's career...
Then when I started working and earning some monies - started collecting all vinyl albums of his film soundtracks.
Then VHS of the films; CDs and DVDs.
Then came internet and emails.
Started emailing Shammi when I found his email address.
Very kind man, he replied and I continued.
He always responded - I was overjoyed.
I think I am his No 1 fan in the world.
So when I found your interviews, it was a wonderful moment in my life to watch them. I have even bookmarked them & watch often.
Shammi Kapoor - what an actor; What a man - gave so much pleasure with his persona!
What a dancer, What a beautiful voice.
In those days, there were no choreographers or dressers and such like...
Shammi did them all - and showed what a versatile actor he was!
New actresses were introduced in films opposite him!
Saira Banu, Sharmila Tagore, Rajshree, Kalpana - in films like Junglee, Kashmir Ki Kali, Janwar & Professor.
All Super Hits
And many others.
