As as Biker I only really care about the wirelessness, I want my cam to stay with a squared size, no dongles or accessories, while staying dust/waterproof while the audio is recorded wherever I want without cables and reliably. I'm not buying the Action 4 until the DJI MIC 2 is available, so they better hurry up 😅

Hello, I've heard, learnt that the dji mic when the transmitters ar used as a recorder and recorded internally, and later on they are connected to pc - they do not show the files is it true? and could you please tell if the RODE wireless pro has the feature that dji gave of recording internally with the transmitters themselves without the help of any app/software. Can the latest RODE do that function? I've searched, and looked for that all the places, but couldn't find it.
These issue was resolved with a firmware update if it ever occurred. I’m able to pull files off the DJI mic via usb c easily. The rode pro also has internal recording but for best compatibility you want to use the rode app for settings and configuration. The rode pro should be able to connect and retrieve files via usb c no problem

Just the fact that the TASCAM DR-10L doesn’t have USB C and I’ve gotta fiddle with tiny SD card is a disqualification. The DJI Mic 2 offers best solution for a 32bit audio recorder + interface. Even got it to power a Shure SM7B via XLR to 3.5mm. Wait for it 👍🏽

Even with 32-bit in the mix, I'd say it's still the Lark Max now or wait for the DJI II which is what I'm doing. It's very difficult to mess up with 24-bit as it is, so if you're shopping off requirement and value in terms of use, the Rode just isn't the option yet
Can make a big difference BUT it’s very situational and placement is key. You want the mic or lav close to the audio source but you want to avoid plosive. Honestly I run it no lav and just eq in post, stay tuned I’ll drop a video about it soon.
If they want data transfer they will have to redesign the dji mic 2. That unit has usb c on the side whereas rode pro has usb c on the bottom. The rode unit is connected to charging case via the usb c whereas the dji has a magnetic charging bottom. We are either going to see a dji Mic 2 pro or it will remain as is. The mic 2 has a slot for the cable to rest so it isn’t pull out of the input. I suspect quarter one to help their Q1 numbers look good.
You are correct, they’d have to implement a usb c charging case equivalent, connected mic. I like your idea of a DJI Mic 2 Pro! I personally would be happy with the existing design and 32bit float.
I get what you’re saying, you’re not wrong but with hindsight I’d still pick up a Tascam X8 + EM-99B and DJI MIC 2. $1k for all 3 items vs $1k for just Mixpre 3

I haven’t bought the MixPre 3 yet, but probably will. I can get by with the wireless mics I already have. I don’t need to buy a new one every time one gets released with a new feature. But they are nice to have if you can afford them.

Unfortunately there isn’t one. You might consider the SmallRig Wave W1-C, it connects via USB C and has a smallish foot print. I don’t believe you’d be able to utilize it with the cage on

Instead of a locking mechanism, they put a cord grip on the back clip near the hinge. Because of that, they probably aren’t making a change to locking for this model.

I'm waiting to see what the Mic 2 can do. Like you, I don't love the form factor of the Rode mics but I do find that they sound better than DJI mics. Where DJI excels is in usability and handy features (like how easily they work with the Pocket 3). Looking forward to trying it out.
Dude, Thank you so much for this video. We've been sitting on the fence as to whether to buy DJI I or wait for the DJI II. We'd just go with the first gen but we don't want to have to use a dongle on the Pocket 3....and we'd get the creator combo but we need 2 mics. Then sometime early next year we'll get the pocket and then at some point upgrade to the 2. We just don't think we should keep putting out sub-par iphone audio on our channel. If you want wireless lav with 32bit float, wait for the DJI 2 you won’t be disappointed. If you want to use a dynamic mic like Shure SM7B etc tascam or zoom F3 are great. Going to do some testing to see if the DJI Mic 1 and version 2 can push power to a dynamic mic

The tascom I wanted to use for weddings but I don’t know when I start making my way to that field. I do want a wireless 32 bit for content outdoors instead of using my shotgun mic
The first version of DJ Mic was released with DJI Pocket 2 camera (in combo kit). Later, when DJI released DJI Mic to market, they already did a lot of changes that made it not compatible and different from the original one. I hope it won't happen with DJI Mic 2.
In China they celebrate their new year… but they party tooo hard for 2 to 3 months. 😂 Not a lot of people know about this. One of the reasons their releases are just before their new year celebrations. February to march they start working again.
It'll be a pain in the ass but you could buy the creator combo and take advantage of holiday return periods.....or if you or a friend has total tech from BEST BUY they have 2 months to return it. Last option is buy the creator combo and sell the camera but the return option seems like it has less hassle.

Not 100% sure what you mean about the first mic, the one that came with osmo pocket 2 is a no go. You can use the current DJI mic with the receiver plugged in via usb c, little clunky but doable

People are ASSuming there's a delay when it's just as possible that they bumped up the release of the Pocket 3. BTW the Mic 2 clip locks down the cord of a lavelier mic so... you can use any mic. I’m referencing specifically the dual mic kit with charging case which is listed at a spring 2022 launch. It’s 100% delayed whether they intended it to release on 2023 Q4 or 2024 Q1, that’s just tech in general. Also the fact you can’t buy one independently to add more functionality to the Pocket Osmo 3, can’t argue that. I’m familiar with the DJI Mic 2 updated clips and versatility but certain creatives are gonna want that “locking lav feature”

I mic up the instructors for good audio, kinda just standard work flow. DJI mic really provides the best size mic and features for the job it’s discrete, reliable and has internal recording. What wireless mic system are you using?

The ONLY reason I want it is for the bluetooth connection from the transmitter. It is one of very few BT microphones that sounds great.

DJI mic really provides the best size mic and features for the job it’s discrete, reliable and has internal recording.

Yes … confusing as DJI has MIC 2 in their site for sale but a different MIC 2 ? Version 1 … with 2 mics and there’s Mic 2 again with 32 but whatever
You tube is full of videos about the DJI MIC 2 but all of them about the existing one not the up and coming one … just added unnecessary confusion
