I absolutely love the comedic GENIUS behind the “Vegetarian Time Traveler that explains what smushma means that’s 30 seconds off”
Like it’s a really funny joke the first time the 40 seconds off Time Traveler, and since it’s a running joke to hire literally anybody to explain what uncleared levels means (matt) you wouldn’t think that he would appear again, or if he does, it’s probably just the editors having fun.
The second time it happens, you’re thinking, “Damn time travel is crazy, he’s got lettuce on his mouth,” and he tells you that what he’s about to tell you is gonna be really funny in about 20 seconds.
You’ve already laughed at this guy before, now that he’s here again, with a different joke in the same context, it’s really funny now, there’s no way that in 20 seconds it’s gonna be just as funny as what he said, right?
But no. See, in 30 seconds, Simpleflips is about to say (what I think) is the funniest continuity joke in history. He says the words, “Thankfully, we asked a vegetarian what smushma was, but due to their time travel abilities, we’re about 30 seconds off.”
Not only was I not realizing that there’s a reason behind lettuce being in Matt’s mouth, but he was also WRONG about how much time he was off. I felt an uncontrollable laughter IMMEDIATELY leave my body through my mouth and I think I might’ve broken my jaw.
These are the kinds of jokes I live and die for.
He was actually right about the time; Simple started his line about the vegetarian exactly 20 seconds after Matt said the "20 seconds from now" thing, and Matt's bit started exactly 30 seconds before Simple said his line

I still don't understand uncleared levels, and at this point after multiple people have been hired to inform me and countless others I think it's time I do some research. I'll get back to you when I understand the premise. For now, I'll be happy watching you clear a level that has not been cleared before.

Sadly the time traveler was 40 years too early rather than too late, but he was contractually bound to explain uncleared levels anyway, so he explained it to your mother and asked her to relay the message

Dude that Sm64 of the day idea is FIRE. I absolutely love the movement of Sm64 and some days I wanna shmoove with MEANING but not necessarily do a full run like 16 or 70. I'd be so down for this, I could easily see myself putting that into my daily routine.

Too bad we didn’t pull an Epic. I really would’ve liked to grab the last 2 Sleepyflips to fully Limit Break him. The new Dream RHDC Pack update made his leader and passive skills borderline OP even though he’s got the natural vulnerability to status effects. I mean, the whole R&R class really needed a good team to make the leader any good, but the team they gave him has made Sleepyflips totally meta. Simpleflips After Dark was already pretty good, but the synergy with the new Rares is unbelievable. I haven’t seen the meta shift like this since the Flood Escape patch to the Crossover Pack.

@Novarender I know Blurryflips is a common unit to pull, but it's kinda busted both in low-elo ranked matches and throughout the entire singleplayer campaign. You guys get angry at pulling him nowadays but you all know you wouldn't have unlocked Slim-pleFlips in HaC without using Blurry to cheese stage 3, and we all know how busted Slim is for a no-gacha unit

Simple just randomly saying "funk soul brother" out of NOWHERE as a reaction to dying opened a crevasse in my brain to memories I forgot existed and opened my mind's eye who gave him these abilities

this first level is so funny, it's like a box with a million weapons hidden inside it and if you hold it wrong 6 different things pop out of the box to kill you

For the level 14:00 into the video, i don't recall the specifics but the tech involves grabbing the wall you're on immediately after exiting the pipe and then the game doesn't think you've left the ground yet or something
The smushma bit is probably the single best uncleared level explanation to date. I’ve been waiting for a new uncleared and honestly this one killed it dude.

I love that reoccurring gag you have in your Uncleared Levels videos, where you have a joke of making unnecessarily great lengths of work, just to have someone tell what an "Uncleared level" is

I think the idea is better suited to more of a "hack of the week" format, to give them more time in the oven if someone wants to create one, and at the same time to give time for people to play them all as I would imagine having to set time aside to play a mario 64 romhack every day is not something everyone could do

There’s no way your editors get paid enough. They’re really putting in god’s work for all of these vids.
There is already so much going on in this video and then he just casually drops the wild concept of screenshoting typos and only sending them when the typos are corrected. Only Simple could think of something so absurd and hilarious.

That idea about having commissioned levels sounds sick, hope it works out!
In like 5-10 years we're going to see an uptick in general game design and only we few will know that it's because Simple is out here building the foundations for people to more easily be exposed to the ideas of level design, rom hacking, and peer review, and give them the tools and opportunity to improve themselves in these areas. He has taken the core idea behind his hack competitions (being "wouldn't it be cool if more people made rom hacks and if rom hacks were also generally better made?") and created an ecosystem wherein that thought can flourish even without his constant direct involvement. And the madman is still looking to make improvements to it.
What a triumph is that
For the concept project: I like the idea of there being a weekly one that has the contest aspect of it. Dailies for fun sure, but having a week for people to just grind out a level, finding best ways to optimize and such. Could bring some community talk to what would normally be smaller projects that might get missed

I love that right after playing that first course he goes and plays a level called "How the hell do you finish this" exclaiming that he needs a level that isn't a brain buster. To be fair there's no way he'd know that but it tickles my funny bone

I love that you use the Skyward Sword OST when you're out of levels. Skyward Sword is my favorite Zelda game, and it's OST is also one of my greatest favorites too.
For the cat don’t leave ground level, I think if you do run off the ledge and cat dive, then climb back up, you’ll hopefully keep the clear condition.
