Geekdom101 The fact that DBS went beyond the point taking place within the 5 years that Bulma said since she last seen Goku in Dbz episode 289 proves that it takes place in a separate timeline/continuity altogether, it’s not part of the original anime run.
To be honest, I think the reason they are not going past the end of z is because 10 years is such a long time that they think it is plausible for them to do multiple arcs within. But then again, it is a speculation.
Doesn't Bulma says at the End Of Z, before the torunament and meeting Uub that they haven't saw Goku in like 5 year's? So they are starting to run out of time! They should, maybe after the Moro arc, do a little something that makes maybe Goku questions life or something as so to lead unto why he decides to train UUb. Then after End Of Z they would have all the time in the world to write anything they want!

He already has a reason to train him goku wanted to fight buu one on one but when he fought uub he realized he’s strong but doesn’t know how to controls his power so he’s killing two birds with one stone he finally has someone who can protect the earth in the future (he tried with gohan goten and trunks but that didn’t pan out) and once he’s all trained up uub will give goku that good fight he’s looking for.
I know they’ve been denying it but I still believe the “End of Z” epilogue is going to inevitably be retconned, or at the very least altered so that it fits DBS’ canon
Well you can say the same for one piece as well. Been around for a couple decades and they seem the same with a 2 year timeskip and they mostly look the same.
Long Story Short: They’re gonna keep Dragonball in the 10 year time skip as long as the money is there and they can keep selling you on nostalgia without having to come up with new concepts. As soon as sales begin to dip on toys, games, and merchandise, they’ll move on to something new.

Also, this reminds me of the Street Fighter timeline, SF3 series currently the last of the timeline. Street Fighter IV and V both take place before. They won’t move the timeline beyond 3, so the veterans Guile, Blanka, Sagat, Cammy etc are not canonically fighting again.
IT's pretty damn sad how they're turning the series into another Pokemon and Frieza is just like Team Rocket now unfortunately. You're right Geekdom, the series does have to go past the 10 Year Time-Skip otherwise even audiences in Japan will get tired of the series because it's not moving forward in time. I think the best way to go about rewriting GT or writing over it is for Toriyama to grab the Bull by the horns per say and write much of the story like how he wrote Jaco: The Galactic Patrolman and DB: Minus. Seeing what's happened with the last 3 arcs of Super, Toyotaro may screw things up with any events taking place post End of Z.

If they're worried about invalidating GT, they should just incorporate some of the elements of it into Super, especially Bebi, Super Saiyan 4, and the Shadow Dragons. But yeah, they need to move forward already; they can't stay in the ten year gap forever.
@@tjhicks3600 except it really isn't. Toriyama I had a interview a year or two ago talking about yamoshi the original Super Saiyan who is the spirit that somehow creates the Super Saiyan God. The entire story of this not only contradicts what Super Saiyan God is and how it works in Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball super but also just blatantly doesn't make any sense within the world he's created because when you die regardless of where you were you go to other world. There are no spirits in the Dragonball world that just hang around in the living world. And then there is the S cell thing which not only blatantly contradicts more violent angry Saiyans who I've transformed into Super Saiyans like Vegeta and Broly but also don't really explain how Goku and Gohan took so long to transform to spite their more peaceful and carefree Nature's or why the Saiyans from Universe 6 have never transformed despite being able to do it so easily. Toriyama has admitted in the past that he doesn't look at his previous material to see what he did and didn't do and how certain things are supposed to be which is a admission to laziness on his part when it comes to keeping his continuity straight. Dragon Ball super is littered with plot holes retcons inconsistencies and contrivances way more so than all the other shows put together and no I am not exaggerating on this. Some of these might be issues that are made by the staff at Toei or might have been made by Toyotaro but the fact is that Dragon Ball super from a narrative sentence is the worst out of all four shows
With the introduction of the Gods, they can carry this story after Super and probably into another form of GT story. A lot can happen in 10 years and these fights didn't take years and years to finish

Toriyama said in an interview a few years ago that his “goal for the series is to fill the gap” left by the ten year time skip. I think it’s his call. I think he’s putting a time limit on it in a way. I don’t think he really wants to be involved with dragon ball after super, and I don’t think he wants super to go past the time skip. That’s just my opinion though.

Excellent video bro...it makes a lot of sense too, because no matter what things that happen in the ten year time skip, like a character dying, it doesn’t really carry much weight because at the end the day, we know everyone ends up just fine...so there’s no real stakes in the end.
The end of Z doesn't really show a lot of detail to where we can't assume those aren't the same characters. Goku held back against Uub, and Vegeta we saw for the first true time Vegeta was not only a family man but had ZERO desire to fight Goku. We have watched Vegeta grow towards his end of Z self. I think it's hard to conceive Goku knew blue and Ultra Instinct but it's possible. He had no reason to use any real power in his fight against Uub. He wouldn't just attack that little boy with UI🤣😂. They're living in total peace times. I think because they got so powerful is why they finally had peace.

It's not like he fought a major VILLIAN or something. It's not a crazy example or limitation of power, to date Super slides right in and have way more detail to work with than GT creators had. True the end of Z pretty much nullifies any current stakes (because the dragon balls, senzu beans and literal divine intervention weren't enough of a tension killer).
I was thinking the exact same thing like a big ass timeskip where vegeta and goku and the original z fighters are seemed as legends in a time period where there's no dragon balls anything like that so deaths mean something where there's a new protagonist saiyan or human i'd prefer saiyan training to be as strong as goku or vegeta one day

Tbh, i love DBZ and DBGT. Dont really have a gripe with DBS either. I just hope DBS being corporate will go forward with newer villains and greater character development of the younger/new Z fighters & Universal heroes.
Super is only 3 years away from the tournament against uub & its weird because in the final episodes vegeta & bulam acted like they hadn't seen goku for years with all they've gone through. They also need to age goten & trunks to what they're supposed to look like

Watching the end episodes of DBZ is a lot strange now knowing Goku has fought Jiren, Beerus, Broly, Hit, attained god form, UI etc. Yet, he’s more excited to fight Uub?
Frieza never trained, but after 4 months he was SSB tier. Now Kid Buu has never trained either. Imagine how strong he’d be after training. In addition, Dai Kaioshin’s god powers are in Kid Buu, so that gives him an additional boost.
Uubs been mentioned, during the tournament of power set up Goku asks someone about fighter's and they reply there is a child with great potential, but he isn't ready. I think they are going to pass the 10 year time skip, however I feel they aren't entirely sure how to do it successfully. We have gone through both Videl and Bulma's pregnancies, Pan has gone from a newborn into a toddler. Uubs been mentioned, so much suggests time is advancing. However I also believe there is a bigger arc at play in Super. Something just doesn't make sense not even for Dragonball. Firstly the established universal rules, why do the heroes get to constantly break them? The tournaments ending also struck me as strange, Zeno wanted all the universes to be revived. I think something big is coming, all through Z there was hints to Buu, all through DB hints about Piccolo. Why would the omni king be allowing these rules to be broken, to set up a contest? He is looking for someone specific. Someone to do something massive.
I think the reason it hasn’t gone pass the 10 year time skip is simply branding. It’s an opportunity to create new merchandise. The series could be called DB Beyond Z or something. The post 10 year time skip will likely involve a re-make/rewriting of the 28th tournament as the first episode similar to how they re-did resurrection F.
I think the fact that most of the characters during those 10 years are recognizable in their appearances and personalities to how they were in the Buu Saga/a lot of video games and merchandise is another reason they stay within that time span. It evokes the familiarity of the end of the manga more than the end of z when everyone's status quo is very different
This is why I can’t get excited or worried when stuff like the TOP and other u universe threatening stuff happens because we know how it ends in the long run so we know everyone is gonna be okay. No hate to Super. But GT does a far better job as a sequel simply on the grounds of we didnt know what was going to happen next. And not just that but they also addressed the over reliance on the Dragon balls.

I’m ready to move past the skip because the older incarcerations of these characters are more interesting to me I would not mind if they just redid GT, minus SS4. Also it would be cool to just put a plateau on power levels and shift the focus to battle tactics or just give villains hacks. Let ultra instinct be the last necessary power boost.

Vegeta also "mellowed" down during this timeskip. Goku then disappeared for 5 years as per Bulma's words and then left with Uub. Then again it's been years so my memory regarding this is iffy..
I read a fan fiction that covered that. Goku still got turned into a kid but because he was a child, his body couldn’t handle SSB or UI. After he discovered SSJ4, he still couldn’t access Blue or UI because the primal nature of SSJ4 wasn’t compatible with the calm mind needed for the other two transformations. Vegeta shunned God Ki after he found Beerus ordered Planet Vegeta’s destruction and just wanted to rely on Saiyan power.

People can say what they will about GT, I loved it. Yeah it felt rushed or half assed, but some of my favorite villains and by far my favorite saiyan transformation comes from gt. If you dont think ss4 looks cooler than ssgss then you're lyin to yourself lol. Also, I love how it stays true to saiyan origin. Like toriyama flat out said in an interview he forgot about saiyans and their tails during the buu saga, which is why you dont even get a reference to it for goten or trunks. As much as I love super, i would HATE to seem them invalidate GT

While it is true that Toriyama is known to be forgetful, (and a troll) it's also true that he has little direct or indirect involvement in production and writing , even though he is the author and creator. Dragonball is completely Corporate, which means a lot of other people are managing things for sales and to keep the franchise alive and going.

There are clearly diffrent generations ( literally) of DB Fandom. Those of us that have been watching for 30+ years, those who only watched Z, and the present day fans. The oldest of us just have to face the fact the DB is NOT what we started out and fell in love with. The blood and guts and pain we got pulled into are just gone, times have moved on and we are just not going to get that back. I like Super because I am a die hard lifetime fan. It's fun and interesting for what it is.
I don't mind Super but Z is still my fave then Super and original Dragonball are tied for second with GT in last. Super just needs to make more of the Z fighters relevant again because seeing Goku finishing every Arc as the only person to be able to stand up to the main villain is getting very repetitive after 30 years.
I'm with you. Been watching for 25 years, and this series is certainly not the same series that grabbed me as a kid. From watching little Goku breaking bricks with one finger to intimidate Oolong to watching Gogeta break reality battling Broly. Wherever this show goes, I'm along for the ride. And there was also a Time skip in order to get to GT so they could just pick up from where Goku meets uub and start it from there and they could still get a whole bunch of episodes in before GTS timeline comes up
Said it from day one. They will never dismiss GT as non canon. In fact the further Super goes the more things will be solidified. Got a kick out of the Broly Super stuff after watching people arguing over him not being canon all these years.
Super already contradicts facts from the original Manga (as well as Z retconning OG Dragon ball at times..) so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, but I did hear Toyotaro plans on keeping it (End of Z) more so the same.

Yeah, i respect Toriyama's work, and i tend to feel like Dragon Ball is better when he's involved in it. But, i've always maintained that while Toriyama has cool ideas and GREAT designs, he's a weak writer. Most fans recognize the Majin Buu saga as the weakest of OG Dragon Ball's stories, and Toriyama had the least editorial oversight during that period. He's admitted many times that he does not plan ahead, he makes it all up as he goes along, he forgets details of his own stories leading to retcons, and legions of fans just forget or ignore these facts while they lick his boots and shit on every other contributor to the franchise
He's just the writer of the story. And he deserves praise for his creation. Beyond that, things tend to be better with him guiding the ship, cause he made it, and makes it unique, and keeps it consistent (even if that means it's inconsistent)
I really hope to see Toriyama write another manga, even if it's not Dragonball. I really love stuff like Dr. Slump and Jaco, and I feel like modern Dragonball just doesn't have Toriyama's personal touch. I know it's most likely not going to happen though, and Toriyama's health is far more important then seeing another story from him. Hopefully someone will come along who takes more inspiration from Toriyama's personal style and makes a good story reminiscent of Jaco and Dr. Slump.

Great video as always Geekdom101 an I'm so glad that you discuss GT because everyone in the community are undecided either if GT is canon or not and your that Toriyama involvement to GT was minimum but as long as Toriyama name is used it makes money
I feel that for the future of Dragonball to be lit, Goku and Vegeta as characters need to rest. They should be like Toriyama himself. Only imputing when necessary. The new generation characters need to have their development. Trunks, Goten(especially), Pan, Bura or is it Bulla, Uub. So many potentials and dynamism can be done with them including finding new transformations. They could even make super Saiyan 4 a thing half breeds can transform into once they connect deeply to their Saiyan blood (Or something like that). They could finally do more with Gohan as he will enter the stage of being a mentor and as such give him more reasons to want to get stronger in order to protect things at a smaller scale and to train and make stronger the new protectors of the universe. The fun thing about this is... if an enemy is developed so well that none of the new gen characters have a possible or logical way to beat him, slap in Goku or Vegeta to finish the enemy off. Afterall we do know that their strengths are off the charts. Goku and Vegeta ( including characters of their generation) should take passive roles or mentoring roles, And it's okay because it's Dragonball not Son Goku.
You can still make merchandise for other characters, but still have a new continuity going on at the same time. Just look at the Godzilla franchise for example. That series has different continuities that are not linked with each other, but they still make merchandise for other characters from the franchise.
Isn't it technically 5 years? I may be remembering wrong, but I think Goku mentioned how he hadn't seen Vegeta or any of his other friends in 5 years. Either way, I wanna get to EoZ. Not even so much because of drama or tension or predictability (even knowing what happens, it can still be fun getting there), but because I just wanna see the results of Uub's training. I wanna see how everyone changes. I wanna see Pan fighting. I especially wanna see Goten and Trunks grow up already. I think they're older than Cell Saga Gohan at this point, yet they still look like little kids. And Krillin's kid is still being carried around like a baby.
I definitely like super, but it doesn't carry the same feel that Z did. I mean even GT (as bad as it was) still felt more like the original then Super does.

So after the buu arc,there was a 4 year timeskip,then after the BoG arc,a year passed since they used the dragon balls+6 months of training with whis.Then I forgot what episode it was,but bulma summoned shenron and asked goku for a crystal so thats 6 1/2 years.And in dbs broly,the dragon was summoned again so at least 7 1/2 years have passed since the buu arc
I don't think they should go past end of Z, but rather fast forward a few years so that characters like trunks and goten can grow, Goku can change his Gi finally, and they can choose to take the story in different ways rather than keeping it in the short timespan that they have been doing. A 5 year timeskip would hugely benefit the series IMO
Knowing what we know now, it really got me thinking about things like Goku and Vegeta's god ki not being displayed, Beerus and Whis' absence at the End of Z. Then again, the arc didn't show much anyway and that TOEI/Shueisha didn't write themselves into a corner when they do reach this point. Although the most they'll do is re-animate the graphics, like the end of Z having a DBS render.
cathy philips I wonder if maybe they can just make ssj4 super fucking op or something, maybe give it a different name and give it to gohan or something. That might sound dumb but I think it could work. It could be his “ultimate form no Saiyan has ever reached” and it would obviously have to not be called super saiyan but I think that would be dope.

I think the best way to go about rewriting GT or writing over it is for Toriyama to grab the Bull by the horns per say and write much of the story like how he wrote Jaco: The Galactic Patrolman and DB: Minus. Seeing what's happened with the last 3 arcs of Super, Toyotaro may screw things up with any events taking place post End of Z.

The entire story of this not only contradicts what Super Saiyan God is and how it works in Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball super but also just blatantly doesn't make any sense within the world he's created because when you die regardless of where you were you go to other world. There are no spirits in the Dragonball world that just hang around in the living world.
And then there is the S cell thing which not only blatantly contradicts more violent angry Saiyans who I've transformed into Super Saiyans like Vegeta and Broly but also don't really explain how Goku and Gohan took so long to transform to spite their more peaceful and carefree Nature's or why the Saiyans from Universe 6 have never transformed despite being able to do it so easily.
Toriyama has admitted in the past that he doesn't look at his previous material to see what he did and didn't do and how certain things are supposed to be which is a admission to laziness on his part when it comes to keeping his continuity straight. Dragon Ball super is littered with plot holes retcons inconsistencies and contrivances way more so than all the other shows put together and no I am not exaggerating on this. Some of these might be issues that are made by the staff at Toei or might have been made by Toyotaro but the fact is that Dragon Ball super from a narrative sentence is the worst out of all four shows

I think he’s putting a time limit on it in a way. I don’t think he really wants to be involved with dragon ball after super, and I don’t think he wants super to go past the time skip. Excellent video bro...it makes a lot of sense too, because no matter what things that happen in the ten year time skip, like a character dying, it doesn’t really carry much weight because at the end the day, we know everyone ends up just fine...so there’s no real stakes in the end.
The end of Z doesn't really show a lot of detail to where we can't assume those aren't the same characters. Goku held back against Uub, and Vegeta we saw for the first true time Vegeta was not only a family man but had ZERO desire to fight Goku. We have watched Vegeta grow towards his end of Z self.
I think it's hard to conceive Goku knew blue and Ultra Instinct but it's possible. He had no reason to use any real power in his fight against Uub. He wouldn't just attack that little boy with UI🤣😂. They're living in total peace times.
I think because they got so powerful is why they finally had peace.

True the end of Z pretty much nullifies any current stakes (because the dragon balls, senzu beans and literal divine intervention weren't enough of a tension killer).
I was thinking the exact same thing like a big ass timeskip where vegeta and goku and the original z fighters are seemed as legends in a time period where there's no dragon balls anything like that so deaths mean something where there's a new protagonist saiyan or human i'd prefer saiyan training to be as strong as goku or vegeta one day

Frieza never trained, but after 4 months he was SSB tier. Now Kid Buu has never trained either. Imagine how strong he’d be after training. In addition, Dai Kaioshin’s god powers are in Kid Buu, so that gives him an additional boost.

I think the reason it hasn’t gone pass the 10 year time skip is simply branding. It’s an opportunity to create new merchandise. The series could be called DB Beyond Z or something. The post 10 year time skip will likely involve a re-make/rewriting of the 28th tournament as the first episode similar to how they re-did resurrection F.

I think the fact that most of the characters during those 10 years are recognizable in their appearances and personalities to how they were in the Buu Saga/a lot of video games and merchandise is another reason they stay within that time span. It evokes the familiarity of the end of the manga more than the end of z when everyone's status quo is very different
This is why I can’t get excited or worried when stuff like the TOP and other u universe threatening stuff happens because we know how it ends in the long run so we know everyone is gonna be okay.

I read a fan fiction that covered that. Goku still got turned into a kid but because he was a child, his body couldn’t handle SSB or UI. After he discovered SSJ4, he still couldn’t access Blue or UI because the primal nature of SSJ4 wasn’t compatible with the calm mind needed for the other two transformations. Vegeta shunned God Ki after he found Beerus ordered Planet Vegeta’s destruction and just wanted to rely on Saiyan power.

People can say what they will about GT, I loved it. Yeah it felt rushed or half assed, but some of my favorite villains and by far my favorite saiyan transformation comes from gt. Like toriyama flat out said in an interview he forgot about saiyans and their tails during the buu saga, which is why you dont even get a reference to it for goten or trunks. There are clearly diffrent generations ( literally) of DB Fandom. Those of us that have been watching for 30+ years, those who only watched Z, and the present day fans.
The oldest of us just have to face the fact the DB is NOT what we started out and fell in love with.

But, i've always maintained that while Toriyama has cool ideas and GREAT designs, he's a weak writer. Most fans recognize the Majin Buu saga as the weakest of OG Dragon Ball's stories, and Toriyama had the least editorial oversight during that period. He's admitted many times that he does not plan ahead, he makes it all up as he goes along, he forgets details of his own stories leading to retcons, and legions of fans just forget or ignore these facts while they lick his boots and shit on every other contributor to the franchise
He's just the writer of the story. And he deserves praise for his creation. Beyond that, things tend to be better with him guiding the ship, cause he made it, and makes it unique, and keeps it consistent (even if that means it's inconsistent)

I really hope to see Toriyama write another manga, even if it's not Dragonball. I really love stuff like Dr. Slump and Jaco, and I feel like modern Dragonball just doesn't have Toriyama's personal touch. I know it's most likely not going to happen though, and Toriyama's health is far more important then seeing another story from him. Hopefully someone will come along who takes more inspiration from Toriyama's personal style and makes a good story reminiscent of Jaco and Dr. Slump.

I feel that for the future of Dragonball to be lit, Goku and Vegeta as characters need to rest. They should be like Toriyama himself. Only imputing when necessary. The new generation characters need to have their development. Trunks, Goten(especially), Pan, Bura or is it Bulla, Uub. So many potentials and dynamism can be done with them including finding new transformations. They could even make super Saiyan 4 a thing half breeds can transform into once they connect deeply to their Saiyan blood (Or something like that). They could finally do more with Gohan as he will enter the stage of being a mentor and as such give him more reasons to want to get stronger in order to protect things at a smaller scale and to train and make stronger the new protectors of the universe.
The fun thing about this is... if an enemy is developed so well that none of the new gen characters have a possible or logical way to beat him, slap in Goku or Vegeta to finish the enemy off. Afterall we do know that their strengths are off the charts.
Goku and Vegeta ( including characters of their generation) should take passive roles or mentoring roles, And it's okay because it's Dragonball not Son Goku.

You can still make merchandise for other characters, but still have a new continuity going on at the same time. Just look at the Godzilla franchise for example. That series has different continuities that are not linked with each other, but they still make merchandise for other characters from the franchise.

Isn't it technically 5 years? I may be remembering wrong, but I think Goku mentioned how he hadn't seen Vegeta or any of his other friends in 5 years.
Either way, I wanna get to EoZ. Not even so much because of drama or tension or predictability (even knowing what happens, it can still be fun getting there), but because I just wanna see the results of Uub's training. I wanna see how everyone changes. I wanna see Pan fighting. I especially wanna see Goten and Trunks grow up already. I think they're older than Cell Saga Gohan at this point, yet they still look like little kids. And Krillin's kid is still being carried around like a baby.
I definitely like super, but it doesn't carry the same feel that Z did. I mean even GT (as bad as it was) still felt more like the original then Super does.
I cant believe I never noticed the corporate Future Trunks pushing before.
I would like to see the next Dragonball series to focus on Goten, Trunks, Marron, Pan, Bra and Uub!

Then that would be way better unlike what it is now. "The start of ruining the 10 year timeskip". No offense Dbs fans, but super being forced in ruins Dragon ball for me. It would be way better post end of Z since we'd have more matured characters and hopefully similar too their GT counterparts (well the Japanese version, not that English version.. Pan....)
So after the buu arc,there was a 4 year timeskip,then after the BoG arc,a year passed since they used the dragon balls+6 months of training with whis.Then I forgot what episode it was,but bulma summoned shenron and asked goku for a crystal so thats 6 1/2 years.And in dbs broly,the dragon was summoned again so at least 7 1/2 years have passed since the buu arc

I don't think they should go past end of Z, but rather fast forward a few years so that characters like trunks and goten can grow, Goku can change his Gi finally, and they can choose to take the story in different ways rather than keeping it in the short timespan that they have been doing. A 5 year timeskip would hugely benefit the series IMO

Me as well, it I always find it weird how they always just let roshi grope their damn wives all of the time.
Knowing what we know now, it really got me thinking about things like Goku and Vegeta's god ki not being displayed, Beerus and Whis' absence at the End of Z. Then again, the arc didn't show much anyway and that TOEI/Shueisha didn't write themselves into a corner when they do reach this point.
Although the most they'll do is re-animate the graphics, like the end of Z having a DBS render.

cathy philips I wonder if maybe they can just make ssj4 super fucking op or something, maybe give it a different name and give it to gohan or something. That might sound dumb but I think it could work. It could be his “ultimate form no Saiyan has ever reached” and it would obviously have to not be called super saiyan but I think that would be dope.
@@halfwayliving They could definitely make it work considering no Saiyan has had a tail since Super Saiyan has been a thing. They could change up the process of attaining the form. I personally love how SSJ4 looks.
